Objective To improve the diagnosis and tr ea tment level of reno-colic fistula. Methods The clinical data of 6 patients (4 males and 2 females, average age of 37 years) with reno-c olic fistula were analyzed retrospectively.Among them,4 cases had the fistula on the right side and 2,on the left.On etiology,3 cases had nephrolithiasis compli cated with infection;1,nephrolithiasis accompanied by carcinoma of renal pelvis; 1, tuberculosis of kidney; 1,perinephric abscess. There were no typical clinical symptoms in the 6 patients and they underwent retrograde pyelography or antegrad e pyelography for confirmation of diagnosis. Results Sur gical management was carried out in the 6 patients.Among them,1 case underwent n ephrectomy, colectomy and colocolostomy;2,nephrectomy,fistulectomy and repair of the colon;2,pyelolithotomy or ureterolithotomy, fistulectomy and repair of the ki dney and colon;1 case of nephrolithiasis with carcinoma of renal pelvis underwen t exploratory laparotomy and tumor biopsy with no surgery due to severe adhesion of the kidney and colon with the peripheral tissues.Five patients were followed up for 8 months to 9 years (mean,46 months) postoperatively;no surgical complic ation occurred and they had a satisfactory recovery.Only 1 case died of metastas is of tumor 6 months postoperatively. Conclusions Nephro lithiasis complicated with infection is a major cause of reno-colic fistula.Ret rograde pyelography or antegrade pyelography is the most reliable method in the diagnosis of reno-colic fistula. As soon as the diagnosis is made, surgical trea tment should be performed.

BACKGROUND: Long-term utilization of steroid hormone easily induces avascular necrosis of the femoral head (ANFH). Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum possesses bone growth factor and can promote wound healing and tissue repairing, which may has effect on treatment of ANFH. OBJECTIVE: To investigate therapeutic effect of antler powder on ANFH induced by corticosteroids in rats. METHODS: Totally 42 male wistar rats were randomly divided into the blank control, model and high-, moderate- and low-dose treatment groups. Exception those in the blank control group, all rats were intragluteally injected with dexamethasone at 30 mg/kg twice per week for 6 weeks to induce ANFH. Then the rats were treated with antler powder by oral gavage at 200, 400 and 800 mg/kg dosage, once per day for 60 days. Same volume of physiological saline was gavaged in the blank control and model groups. Serum lipid level and bone mineral density (BMD) of femur were measured, pathological change and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were investigated. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Steroid hormone intervention resulted in obviously ANFH in rats. After treatment with antler powder, the degree of necrosis was significant reduced. Compared with the model group, BMD were increased, total cholesterol, triacylglycerol, and low density lipoprotein levels were decreased, and the VEGF expression increased in the treatment groups. The results suggest that antler powder has a positive curative effect on ANFH by promoting bone formation, fat metabolism and increasing VEGF expression.

Journal of Geriatric Cardiology 2009;6(2):99-101
Background and Objective Hyperlipidemia is one of the most potent and best substantiated risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD). Purified Salvia miltiorrhiza extract (PSME) had been shown to have hypolipidemic effect in animal experiments. This study aimed to evaluate its iipids modulating effects in hyperlipidemic patients. Methods In this single-blind, placebo controlled study, lipid profiles of 80 hyperlipidemic patients were checked at same conditions. They were divided into two equal groups randomly (each composing of 40 patients). They were given PSME tablet (800 mg) three times per day, or placebo tablet. All patients were put on NCEP type Ⅱ diet and six weeks later, lipid profiles were checked. Results In PSME group, total cholesterol decreased by 27.32 mg/dl (12.3% reduction), LDL-cholesterol decreased by 23.13 mg/dl (16.8% reduction) and HDL-cholesterol increased by 9.06 mg/dl (11.1%), all were statistically significant. Although triglyceride dropped by 12.12 mg/dl (5.1%) but this was not significant statistically (P=-0.34). There were no significant changes oflipids levels in the placebo group. Conclusions PSME has significant favorable effect on total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and HDL-cholesterol and may be a potential agent for the treatment ofatherogenic dyslipidemia.

Chinese Journal of cardiovascular Rehabilitation Medicine 2016;25(5):457-461
Objective: To analyze relative risk factors of hyperamylasemia after open-heart surgery, and provide basis for clinical prevention and treatment. Methods: A total of 521 adult patients, who received open-heart surgery under general anesthesia and low temperature in our hospital from Jan 1, 2013 to Jun 30, 2013, were selected. The 2ml peripheral venous blood was taken in each patient instant after ICU hospitalization, 24h, 48h and 72h after surgery, then serum was separated and measured for serum amylase level by Somogyi method. According to the measured results of serum amylase level, patients were divided into hyperamylasemia group (serum amylase≥500U/dl, n=76) and non- hyperamylasemia group (serum amylase<500 U/dl, n=445). Single factor and gradual Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze risk factors of hyperamylasemia in patients after open-heart surgery. Results: Gradual Logistic regression analysis indicated that cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) time and hypotension during operation, renal dysfunction and infection after operation were independent risk factors for postoperative hyperamylasemia (OR=1.02~4.12, P<0.05 or <0.01). Conclusion: During perioperative treatment of open-heart surgery, shortening CPB time, avoiding hypotension during surgery, protecting renal function and preventing infection may reduce morbidity of postoperative hyperamylasemia and improve prognosis of patients.
