2.Discussion on acupuncture for flaccid paralysis from "treating flaccid paralysis by yangming alone".
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2015;35(9):956-959
Theories regarding"treating flaccid paralysis by yangming alone" are summarized, and the treatment effects of "yangming is the sea of five viscera and six organs", "yangming is in charge of smoothing the tendon and muscle, while tendon and muscle is in charge of connecting bones and movement" and "tendon and muscle is the crossing point of yin meridians and yang meridians, which is converged in yangming" are explained. With medical cases from later generations, it is summarized that besides "using yangming alone", "mainly using yang-ming" and "multiple meridians and acupoints" can also be recommend, indicating that focus should be paid not only on yangming, but also on,syndrome differentiation and treatment, and accompanying symptoms should be emphasized to regulate the body. The commonly used acupoints for flaccid paralysis are summarized to guide the clinical treatment and manipulation.

3.Comparative Study by TCD on the Realtime Effect of Scalp Cluster Acupuncture versus Nape Cluster Acupuncture for Vertigo Due to Cerebral Circulation Insufficiency
Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2015;(1):19-21
Objective To compare the realtime effects of scalp cluster acupuncture versus nape cluster acupuncture on the cerebral blood flow in patients with vertigo due to cerebral circulation insufficiency (CCI). Methods Fifty-seven patients with vertigo due to CCI were randomized into a treatment group of 29 cases and a control group of 28 cases. The treatment group was intervened by scalp cluster acupuncture, while the control group was by nape cluster acupuncture. The systolic blood flow velocity (Vs), diastolic blood flow velocity (Vd), and mean blood flow velocity (Vm) of the middle cerebral artery (MCA), internal carotid artery (ICA), basilar artery (BA), posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA), and vertebral artery (VA) were observed before and after intervention by Transcranial Doppler (TCD). Results After intervention, the Vs, Vd, and Vm of MCA, ICA, BA, PICA and VA were significantly changed in the treatment group (P<0.01, P<0.05). The blood velocities of MCA, ICA, VA, and PICA were significantly changed after intervention in the control group (P<0.01). The Vs and Vm of BA were significantly changed in the control group after intervention (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in comparing the blood velocities of the observed arteries between the two groups after intervention (P>0.05). Conclusion Scalp cluster acupuncture and nape cluster acupuncture both can improve the Vs, Vd, and Vm of the low-velocity cerebral arteries.

Chinese Journal of Digestion 2009;29(1):29-33
Objective To establish the nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) model in SD rats and to investigate if endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS) plays a role in the pathogenesis of NAFLD. Methods A total of 36 male SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: normal control group 1(N1,n=8), normal control group 2 (N2,n=8), model group 1(M1,n=10) and model group 2(M2,n=10). The two control groups were fed with normal diets, whereas the two model groups were provided diets enriched in fat (10% lard oil and 2% cholesterol). The rats in N1 and M1 groups were sacrificed at the 12th week, and those in N2 and M2 groups were sacrificed at the 20th week. The serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total protein (TP), triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) were measured. The steatosis, immflamation and fibrosis of the liver were observed with HE and Masson staining. The expressions of GRP78, CHOP and procaspase-12 mRNA were tested using real-time PCR and the activation of procaspase-12 protein was detected by Western blot. Results At the 12th week, the liver index and the serum levels of ALT, AST,ALP,TP,TC,LDL in M1 group were significantly higher than those in N1 group (P<0.01), but HDL level was significantly lower in M1 group than that in N1 group (P<0.01). At the 20th week, the concentrations of TC and LDL in M2 group were significantly increased in comparison with N2 group. The histochemical study revealed that the hepatic steatosis and inflammation in M1 and M2 groups were more serious than those in N1 and N2 goups(P<0.01). The slight fibrosis was seen in M2 group. At the 12th and 20th weeks, the expressions of GRP78,CHOP and procaspase-12 mRNA and protein in M1 and M2 groups did not differ in N1 and N2 groups. Conclusions The fat-rich diet might successfully induce NAFLD in rats and there is no ERS observed in the study, which suggests that ERS may not be involved in the pathogenesis of NAFLD.

Chinese Journal of Infectious Diseases 2010;28(5):273-277
Objective Clinical strains of Shigella dysenteriae isolated from eastern parts of India in 1988, 1995 and 2002 were examined for the presence of class 1, 2 and 3 integrons which closely related with drug resistance and the distribution of resistance gene cassette in order to clarify the influence of integron system on drug resistance of Shigella dysenteriae. Methods Susceptibility to antimicrobial agents was tested by the disk agar diffusion method. Class 1, 2 and 3 integron genes (intI) were screened by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in 16 clinical strains with drug resistance. The variable regions of gene cassette of positive strains were sequenced. Results All 16 isolates were resistant to at least 4 agents including β-lactams, aminoglycosides, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, chloramphenicols and quinolones. Class 1 integron gene was detected in 13 strains and all isolates carried class 2 integron which indicated that strains with two integron structures were detected simultaneously and class 3 integron was not detected. Class 1 integron inserted gene cassette was mainly blaara30 -aadA 1 family, conferring resistance to β-lactamase, spectinomycin and streptomycins isolates carried class 2 integron were mainly dfrAl-satl genes cassettes conferring resistance to methoxybenzyl aminopyrimidine and streptothricin, while dfrA\-sat\-aadA\ genes were present only in 4 isolates. Conclusions These data indicate that class 2 integrons are widespread in Shigella dysenteriae strains, and closely associated with multidrug resistance of Shigella.
