1.Evaluation of nutritional status and some correlated factors of children under five in two villages in Tien Giang province
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2005;9(3):176-181
A cross sectional study was carried out on 866 children under 5 years old and all mothers with children under 2 years old in 2 villages of Cai Be district, Tien Giang province (one village often suffered by flooding and one village rarely had flooding). Household KAP interviews using structured questionnaire have been conducted. The weight and height of all children were measured. Results: In two villages, the percentage of malnourished children was still high (21.24%). Simultaneously, obesity in children under five (1.7%) emerged as a new health issue. All these risk factors: educational status of fathers and mothers, practice in feeding (giving the child fluid during 24 hours after birth, feeding during the child experienced diarrheae), starvation of families, knowledge on growth chart, time of first feeding the baby with supplementary food, time of weaning were investigated. There is no statistic significant association of those risk factors with nutritional status of children under five between the two villages

3.Evaluation of nutritional status and some related factors in children under 5 years old at 2 communes of Tien Giang province
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;510(4):95-96
Study on nutritional status of 866 children less than 5 years old who were living in 2 communes of Cai Be district, Tien Giang province. Results: prevalence of malnutrition in children <5 years old at 2 communes was 21.4%, in An Thai Dong commune was 21.2% and in My Trung commune was 21.4%. Malnutrition often was mild, 27.7% malnutrition children were between 12 and 24 months. However, there were overweight and obesity children. Most of mothers had knowledge of nutrition and nursing for their children. 79.69% mother knew that it’s necessary to give more fluid, 79.69% mother continued normal diet when their children suffered from diarrhea. There wasn’t any difference of nutritional status between a flooded commune and a normal commune. It wasn’t found the association of nutritional status and some factors such as nutritional habits, the time to give supplementary foods. It’s needed to strengthen education and communication activities in order to improve the nutritional knowledge and practice of the mothers, to reduce the rate of malnutrition as well as overweight and obesity in children <5 years old.

4.Oil Chemical Composition of Adenosma caeruleum wild Growing in Dakmil
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2003;8(4):127-128
Materials and methods: Wild growing Adenosma caeruleum R.Br. (Scrophulariaceae) was collected at Dak Mil district (Dak Lak province) in July 2002 for oil preparation. The oil analysis was carried out by a combination of capillary gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Results: The essential oil was obtained from the aerial part of the plant at the yield of 0.5% compared with dried materials. 38 chemical compounds were identified. The major components were thymol (24.67%), alpha-humulene (16.44%), thymyl methylether (12.59%), gamma-terpinene (12.26%), beta-caryophyllene (5.82%), beta-bisabolene (5.67%), p-cymene (4.58%), humulene oxide (3.59%) and caryophyllene oxide (2.76%).

5.The study on the efficiency of anti P.aeruginosa immunoglobulin from horses on animal
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;9():0-0
Anti P. aeruginosa immunoglobulin prepared from horses have proved to be effective as a supplement to the conventional methods for early treatment of P. aeruginosa infection on animal. The results showed that anti P. aeruginosa immunoglobulin have protective value: P. aeruginosa number on surface of burn wounds decreased on 3rd day after treatment; protective effect manifested in mice infected intraperitoneally with P. aeruginosa with the doses from 2LD50 to 4LD50. The results in vivo on animal showed that anti P. aeruginosa immunoglobulin should be applicated in clinical trial to demonstrate its efficiency as a part of complete treatment of burn patients, with purulent sepsis complication

6.Study on the antihypertensive problem in ischemic stroke patients with hypertension at the ICU-provincial general hospital of Quang Tri
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;517(8):12-15
We studied 47 ischemic stroke patients with hypertension at the ICU-Quang tri general hospital in the year 2004. These patients were divided into 2 groups: group A consisting of 23 patients whose blood pressure was lowered considerably within 6 early hours and 24 early hours after admission; while the blood pressure of 24 patients of group B was lowered step by step, in a ladder fashion according to the recommendation of WHO. Objective: Clinical comparison (improvement of coma and movement, evidence of cerebral edema) between the 2 groups within 72 hours after hospitalization. Study design: prospective, clinical comparison between 2 disease groups. Results:-Upon admission, the difference of mean Glasgow scores of group A(8.71.1) and group B (8.31.9) is not of statistical significance (p>0.05). At the 24th hour, the mean Glasgow scores of group A and B are 7.5 2.4 and 9.52.6, respectively. By 48 hours, these scores of group A and B are 7.82.4 and 10.62.7, respectively. The mean Glasgow scores of group A and B at the 72nd hour are 7.51.5 and 11.32.5, respectively. It is demonstrated that the mean Glasgow scores at hours 24, 48 and 72 of group B are statistic significant higher than these scores of group A (p<0.01). The clinical improvement of motor paralysis and cerebral edema within 24, 48 and 72 hours after hospital admission is better in group B than in group A, with statistic significance (p<0.01).
