China Pharmacy 2001;12(4):197-199
AIM:To discuss the relationship between molecular biology and modernization of Chinese materia medica(CMM)with the hope that molecular biology may play an important role in promoting modernization of CMM.METHODS:The currentsituation and progress in using the theoy and technique of molecular biology in the research fields of CMM were reviewed. RESULTS:The technique of modern molecular biology, such as, the identification of crude drugs, the culture and production of medicinal plants, the screening of effective components from CMM and the analysis of the mechanisms of the action of CMM, has been applied in the research work of CMM.CONCLUSION: The extensive use of the technique of molecular biology in the research of CMM will greatly promote the modernization of it.The research workers and policy makers in these fields must pay close attention to them.
2.Inhibitive and toxic effects of artesunate on murine bone marrow hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells
Chinese Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics 2004;0(12):-
AIM:To observe the influences of artesunate(AS)on murine bone marrow hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.METHODS:Murine bone marrow hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were cultured in vitro with different concentration of AS.The numbers of erythrocyte colony-forming unit(CFU-E)or burst-forming unit(BFU-E)in liquid or semisolid culture were counted through light microscope.Apoptosis of cultured cells and the changes of mitochondrial membrane potential were detected by flow cytometry(FCM)analysis, meanwhile,DNA ladder gel electrophoresis were conducted.RESULTS:AS could significantly inhibit the formation of CFU-E and BFU-E(P

Chinese Journal of Forensic Medicine 2002;0(06):-
Objectlve To study the significance of injury and posthumous changes to the axonal in brain stem and provide evidence to the forensic discrimination of brainstem injury. Methods Select the cases that died of the primary brainstem injury or other disease randomly, All cases were divided into control group and experimental group, control group and experimental group that were autopsied at the postmortem interval less than 24h or 48h, or longer than 24h or 48h. The brainstem tissue were cut and stained by silver; Two hundred four samples were observed in microscope and selected 9~10 widest axonal to measure its diameter, then analysis the data. Results There is significant difference in axonal diameter of midbrain and mudella between control group (not including those cases died of cardiovascular diseases) and experiment group (P0.05). Conclusion The axonal swelling of the brainstem is closely related with the traumatic injury, so axonal swelling is a finding useful for identification of traumatic brainstem lesions, but death from cardiovascular diseases should be excluded.

Objective To construct an eukaryotic recombinant plasmid with HGFSP, a hybrid gene encoding the antigen epitopes of MSA1, MSA2, RESA and CSP in different developing stages of Plasmodium falciparum(P.f. ). Methods HGFSP was sub-cloned into an eukaryotic expression plasmid pcDNA3 from a prokaryotic recombinant plasmid pSK-HGFSP to construct the eukaryotic recombinant expression plasmid pc-HGFSP. The identified recombinant was then transfected into HepG2 cells with liposome-mediated method. The G418-selected positive cell clones were tested to identify the immunogenicity of HGFSP-expressing antigen. Results It was evidenced that HGFSP was correctly inserted into pcDNA3 by restriction enzymes map analysis. HGFSP-expressing antigen-specific fluorescent response was observed in pc-HGFSP-transfected HepG2 cells. The results of SDS-PAGE and Western-blotting showed that there was a 23 kD protein band, which can be specifically recognized by anti-sera of HGFSP-expressing protein in pc-HGFSP-transfected HepG2 cell lysis. Conclusion Pc-HGFSP, an eukaryotic recombinant plasmid encoding hybrid antigen epitopes of P.f ., was constructed successfully and the antigenicity of pc-HGFSP-expressing protein was confirmed.

Objective To explore whether differences in high school student health exist between urban and suburban areas in Beijing.Metheds To make comparative analysis on the related data collected from the physical examinations conducted in the 19 districts in Beijing for senior high school admission and college admission in 2007.Results Differences in student health(including height, weight, eyesight)exist between urban and suburban areas in Beijing. There is significant difference in eyesight(t=2.321,P=0.033)between urban and suburban junior school graduates in Beijing. There are significant difierences in height(t=2.617,P=0.018)and the incidence of overweight(t=4.650,P=0.000)between urban and suburban boys junior school graduates. There is significant difference in height(t=3.792,P=0.001)between girls. Conclusions The health condition of high school students is being affected by the overloaded study tasks and unhealthy lifestyle.which needs to be intervened.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2014;36(2):117-120
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine on internal and external treatment of acne. Methods 128 patients in Dermatology Department of Xiyuan Hospital CACMS from May 2012 to March 2013 were collected and randomly divided into Chinese medicine group and western medicine group. The patients of Chinese medicine group were divided into invasion of the Lung by Wind-Heat syndrome and damp-heat oflmg and stomach syndrome, respectively taking acne liquid 1 or 2 orally and using the herb mask once a week. The western medicine group took Roxithromycin Capsules orally and smeared 0.3% Viaminate and Vitamin E Cream. The treatment period lasted for 6 weeks, and collected the photograph of the target lesion before and after research every 2 week and evaluated the efficacy.Result The total efficacy rate were 90.77% (59/65) and 74.60% (47/63) for Chinese medicine group and western medicine group respectively, with significant difference between them(x2=11.83,P<0.05).The efficacy rates were 87.50% and 93.94% for invasion of the Lung by Wind-Heat syndrome and damp-heat of lung and stomach syndrome respectively, with no significant difference between them(x2=0.416,P>0.05).The TCM symptom scores after treatment [Chinese medicine group (4.36 ± 2.45),western medicine group (8.62± 2.49)] had significant difference in two groups respectively compared with before treatment[Chinese medicine group(15.33±6.08),western medicine group(14.34±5.29),P<0.05].The difference of TCM symptom scores after treatment between the two groups also had a significant difference (P<0.05).The TCM symptom scores after treatment of invasion of the Lung by Wind-Heat syndrome group and damp-heat of lung and stomach syndrome group were (4.50±3.01) and (4.24±1.83),which had a significant difference compared with before treatment respectively[(15.37±7.03)and(15.29±5.13),P<0.05].Conclusion The TCM internal and external treatment on acne could reduce the number of lesions and improve TCM symptom scores. The effect of treating invasion of the Lung by Wind-Heat syndrome and damp-heat of lung and stomach syndrome with TCM was almost equal.
