The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the correlations between foliar fungal endophyte communities and effective components accumulations in Salvia miltiorrhiza. Foliar samples of S. miltiorrhiza were collected in 5 different areas. Their fungal endophyte communities and effective component contents were determined by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), respectively. The results showed that, for characteristics of foliar fungal endophyte communities and effective component contents, there were both similarities and differences among the five samples. Correlation analysis of DGGEs' band and 24 effective components revealed a significant correlations (P < 0.01). For examples, 4 bands (15, 18, 23 and 26) were all significantly correlated with the accumulations of caffeic acid, salvianolic acid B, salvianolic acid C and dihydrotanshinone I.

Objective: To investigate mechanism on the restenosis after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) with FSZ (Hirudo, Rhizoma Coptidis, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, Radix Curcumae, Rhizoma Polygonati Odoroti, etc) by studying the protective effects of FSZ on arrhythmia and injury induced by ischemia and reperfusion. Methods:Rats were randomly divided into four groups and administered orally with FSZ. Left coronary artery ligature was used to form ischemia and reperfusion model. Lipid peroxidation (LPO), superoxide dismutase (SOD), cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), area of myocardial infarction, myocyte ultrastructural injury and occurrence of arrhymia were investigated. Results: FSZ could improve the changes in ST segment. In rats treated with FSZ, the levels of SOD were elevated while cAMP, LPO, and the specific viscosity of whole blood or plasma and the aggregation of the platelet were lowered, keep to improving the hemorheological changes. It also could antagonize the myocardial damage by myocardial ischemia or reperfusion reduced the area of myocardial infarction. Especially, Fufangshuizhijing Capsule reduced the area of left ventricular (LV) compared with the control group remarkably. Conclusion: FSZ could obviously antagonize arrhythmia and the injury induced by the ischemia and reperfusion, FSZ may scavenge oxygen free radical, regulate the second messenger, remarkably improve the local circulation to reduce the specific viscosity of whole blood of plasma and the aggregation of the platelet in rats, protect mitochondria safeguard the cardiac myocyte to treat PTCA.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2013;38(4):405-412
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the differentially expressed gene profile in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues with and without pelvic lymph node metastasis by microarray technique and to screen tumor metastasis-related genes.
METHODS:
Cancer tissue samples were collected from 4 cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients with pelvic lymph metastasis and 6 patients without metastasis before the treatment. Differentially expressed gene profile was identified between cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues with and without pelvic lymph node metastasis by NimbleGen microarray. Fluorescent real-time quantitative PCR was employed to validate the accuracy of the microarray by detecting the expression of genes picked from the differentially expressed gene profile. We screened tumor metastasis-related genes through the gene bank, PUBMED and gene ontology analysis.
RESULTS:
With the application of microarray, 329 genes were identified as markedly differentially expressed genes between cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues with and without pelvic lymph node metastasis. Real-time PCR was in accordance with microarray. Forty-four genes associated with tumor metastasis were identified from the differentially expressed gene profile.
CONCLUSION
Gene profile in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues associated with pelvic lymph node metastasis is preliminarily identified, indicating that lymph node metastasis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma is a process involving numerous genes.
