Objective To evaluate the efficacy of interventional therapy for advanced pancreatic carcinoma. Methods 33 cases of advanced pancreatic carcinoma accepted interventional therapy from April 2005 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were unoperable and accepted one or more times of celiac and superior mesenteric arterial chemotheraputics perfusion with dosage of 2:1. The embolization was further introduced with the addition of liver invasion. The repetition interval was kept at 6 weeks with no severe complications. Results The one with follow-up CT imagings showed obvious decrease of the lesion size, together with release or disappearance of the sensation of abdominal pain and abdominal distention. The life span prolonged with average survival of 13 months, including the longest of 22 months and the life quality improved. Conclusions The interventional therapy could be the first method of choice in the management of advanced pancreatic carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE To study the possibility of air sterilization with solution of camphor leaves. METHODS Every six adjacent sickrooms that had same volume from 9 different clinical sectors were randomly selected for testing.Air of all sickrooms were sterilized by atomizing with solution of camphor leaves that was rough made by boiling and filtering and by direct irradiating with ultraviolet ray respectively. And then screened the sterilization effect of two methods respectively by air culture. RESULTS After sterilization with 100% solution of camphor leaves, all sickrooms were in line with standard of class Ⅲ(500 CFU/m~3),and 70% sickrooms were in line with class Ⅱ(200CFU/m~3).Both atomizing with solution of camphor leaves and direct irradiating with ultraviolet ray showed obvious effect, the result of air culture indicated that CFU of microorganisms were significant differrent between pre-sterilization and post-sterilization in both methods(P0.25). CONCLUSIONS Camphor leaves are very effective for sterilization and deserve to spread.

Objective To observe the migration ability of different quantity of BMSCs labled with Resovist after transplanted in rat models with Parkinson disease (PD) with 1.5T MR scanner and micro-47 coil, in order to determine the optimal transplanted dosage of BMSCs and observation time in vivo. Methods Forty PD rats were randomly assigned to 5 groups (each n=8) including 1×10~5 BMSCs group, 1.5×10~5 BMSCs group, 2×10~5 BMSCs group, 2.5×10~5 BMSCs group and control group. FFE-T2WI were obtained immediately and 1 week, 4 weeks, 8 weeks after transplantation to measure and compare the volume of hypointense areas of different groups in different time with 1.5T and 47 mm inner diameter micro-coil. At the meantime, rotational behavior was assessed in each group. After MR scanning, the rats were executed and prepared for immunohistochemistry staining at 12 weeks after transplantation. Results Only the extent of the dark region became wider 4 weeks after transplantation in 2×10~5 BMSCs group (P=0.005). The therapeutic efficacy in 2×10~5 BMSCs group was the best confirmed by behaviour studies (P=0.02). Conclusion For the treatment of PD and evaluation of the migratory ability of BMSCs, the optimal transplanted dosage of BMSCs is 2×10~5, while the best observation time is 4 weeks after transplantation.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ESHAP regimen,as a salvage regimen, in treating patients with relapsed or refractory aggressive NHL.Methods 38 patients with relapsed or refrac- tory aggressive NHL were selected to be treated by ESHAP regimen. Results The 38 patients received ES- HAP regimen with a range of 2~6 cycles. The total RR was 55.3 % with complete response(CR)rate of 26.3 %.The major toxicity was myelosuppression with infection, which was tolerable. Conclusion ESHAP regimen is one of safe and effective salvage regimens for the patients with relapsed or refractory aggressive NHL.

OBJECTIVEPrimary to search the rule of pre-operative chemotherapy and suitable duration for it by investigating the changes of calpain content and activity after 5'-deoxy-5-fluorouridine (5'-DFUR) per oral administered pre-operatively in different time. Further to investigate the mechanism of chemotherapy.
METHODSSeventy-three patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumors were divided into 4 groups by the time of 5'-DFUR (600 approximately 1200 mg/d) by oral administration before operation, group A, 3 days, 27 cases; group B, 1 week, 22 cases; group C, 2 weeks, 15 cases; group D, 2 months, 9 cases. And group E, control group, had 24 patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumors at the same term. The patients above all had not received the other chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Western blot and immunoelectron microscopy were employed to detect the expressing levels and activities of calpain in tumor tissues of different groups.
RESULTSElectronic microscopic examination showed gold granula mainly on the membranes of mitochondria of tumor cells to groups after chemotherapy. And the tumor cells of group A were mildly damaged. Besides that, serious injury for tumor cells of group B could be seen, and the phenomena were common in group C. But the damages to tumor cells of group D were mainly about mildness. The results of immunoelectron microscopy revealed that the contents of calpain increased following the time of chemotherapy prolonging, and peaked in group C. Still more, there was no significant difference for the results between group C and group D. The changes of calpain activities observed by western blot had the same tendency as the results from immunoelectron microscopy (r = 0.86, P < 0.0001).
CONCLUSIONS5'-DFUR via oral administered pre-operation could have anti-cancer effect through calpain. And the effect might be strongest in 2 weeks also after chemotherapy.

Objective To investigate the changes of CD4+ CD25+ regulatory T lymphocyte (Treg) and expressions of folkhead helix transcription factor 3 (FoxP3) in intestinal mucosa in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected patients. Methods Twenty-one HIV infected patients and 17 control subjects without HIV infection were included in this study. The expression of FoxP3, which was considered as a specific marker of CD4+ CD25 + Treg, was detected in intestinal mucosa specimens from HIV infected patients by immunohistochemistry. Meanwhile, the in situ expression of CD4+ T lymphocyte was also determined by immunohistochemistry. The data were analyzed by t test. Results The positive labeling index of CD4+ T lymphocyte in intestinal mucosa was significantly lower in HIV infected patients compared to the controls (11. 56%±4. 44% vs 43. 49% ±8. 90% ,t=-11. 86,P<0. 01). The positive labeling index of FoxP3 in intestinal mucosa was also significantly lower in HIV infected patients compared to the controls (0.46% ± 0.20% vs 1. 18% ± 0. 44% ,t= - 5. 98,P<0.01). Conclusion The depletion of CD4+ CD25+ Treg is accompanied with the depletion of CD4 + T lymphocyte and the reduction of FoxP3 expression in intestinal mucosa of HIV infected patients.

A digital tongue image analysis instrument (TIAI) based on computer for Traditional Chinese Medicine is introduced. Some of the key techniques, including the image acquiring condition and method, the evaluation of tongue characters, and the management of tongue image data, are discussed as well. TIAI can provide a non-invasive, quantitative, and objective analysis approach and enhance the theory level and practical ability of the Traditional Chinese tongue diagnosis.
