Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by memory loss and cognitive decline. The pathological eatures of Alzheimer's disease are abnormal deposition of amyloid beta-peptides (Aβ), neurofibrillary tangles, cholinergic deficits, and loss of synaptic processes and dendritic spines. Senescence accelerated mouse prone 8 exhibits age-related deficits of learning and memory from an early age, tau protein phosphorylation, neurotransmitter changes, synaptic structure and function disorders, circadian rhythm disorders,as well as gene expression and many other characteristic changes, which are consistent with Alzheimer's disease pathological changes, and can be used as an ideal animal model for Alzheimer's disease prevention drugs development.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2001;17(3):246-248
Objective:To investigate the effects of different shapes of implant on stress distribution in implant-bone interface and to select the most appropriate shape for orthodontic anchorage. Method:3-dimesional finite element analysis method was used to analyze the stress and strain in implant-bone interface of knife-edged threaded, square threaded and smooth type implants. Results: The first, second and third main stress (MPa) of knife-edged threaded implant were 6.67, 1.47 and 0.52 respectively with 7.72 MPa of Von Mises stress;those of square threaded 13.00,2.51,0.57 and 11.8;smooth type 10.50,2.50,0.67 and 12.60,respectively. The variables of alveolar bone at the cervix of knife-edged threaded, square threaded and smooth type implants were (0.11×10-3), (0.13×10-3) and (0.94×10-4) mm respectively. Conclusion: The stress in knife-edged threaded implant-bone interface and alveolar bone deformation at the cervix of the implants is minimal, therefore the implants are more suitable for orthodontic anchorage.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2001;17(3):243-245
Objective:To establish a 3-dimensional finite element model for implant in molar deprived region of mandible. And to lay basis for precise analysis for the biomechanic characteristics of implant anchorage system. Methods:The cross section outline drawn from the molar deprived region of mandible was input into a computer, and ANSYS 5.5 (Swanson Analysis Systems, Inc. Houston, USA) finite element analysis software was used to perform the finite element modeling of the mandible. Results:The cross section outline of the mandible, imitated by a spline curve was smooth and lifelike. This cross section outline was extruded into a three dimensional model. The three dimensional models of the implant and mandible could be smartly meshed to obtain the finite element model of mechanics. Conclusion: An effective 3-dimensional finite element biomechanical analysis model for implant as orthodontic anchorage was established.

OBJECTIVE:To provide references on how to avoid price war in Chinese drug retailing.METHODS:The status quo of Chinese drug retailing was analyzed, meanwhile the cause and effect of price war were discussed.RESULTS & CONCLUSION:The disadvantages of price war outweigh the advantages, which is sure to be replaced by services-based brand strategy.
5.TCM and western medicine research progress of diabetic peripheral neuropathy
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2010;32(6):558-560
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common complication of diabetic mellitus. The treatment is so difficult that doctors have not found reliable methods to cure this disease. The research progress both in TCM and western medicine of this disease were reviewed in terms of aspects of etiology, pathogenesis and differential treatments.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of Shen-wu capsule on learning and memory ability and its mechanism in APP transgenic mice. MethodsThe APP 695V717I transgenic mice were randomly divided into model group, Shen-wu low dose group (0.4g/kg·d) and high dose group (1.2g/kg·d). Normal control adopted the same age and background C57BL/6J mice. The animals were administered intragastrically by the drug or water from 4 month old to 10 month old. Morris water maze and object recognition test were performed to measure the learning and memory ability. The content of β-amyloid (Aβ) in the brain cortex homogenate was detected with RIA,and amyloid plaques were measured with Congo red staining. ResultsIn the Morris water maze test, swimming time and swimming distance of model group were prolonged distinctly(P<0.01). Shen-wu high dose group obviously shortened swimming time(P<0.05). In the object recognition test, the relative time to the new objection in model group was obviously shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05). The relative time to the new objection for Shen-wu high dose group was obviously longer than the model group(P<0.05). The content of soluble Aβ in model group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Shen-wu group decreased the soluble Aβ distinctly(P<0.01). The amyloid plaques were increased in the brain of model mice(P<0.01). Each group of Shen-wu decreased amyloid plaques significantly(P<0.01).ConclusionShen-wu Capsule ameliorated the learning and memory function disorder and decreased Aβ formation in the brain of APP transgenic model mice.

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural on learning-memory and cerebral free radical metabolism in cerebral ischemia and reperfusion model mice. METHODS: The mice were divided into sham operation group, model group, 5-HMF low dose group, 5-HMF high dose group, and dihydroergotamine mesilate positive control group. After administration of the corresponding drugs, all groups except the sham operation group were subjected to construction of cerebral ischemia and reperfusion model. The learning-memory of mice was examined by Morris water maze and step-down tests, and cerebral superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content were determined as well. RESULTS: In model group compared with sham operation group the escape latency and swimming distance were significantly prolonged in Morris water maze test (P

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(06):-
Aim To observe the effect of taurine on learning-memory ability and its mechanism in model mice induced by scopolamine(Scop). Methods Kunming mice were randomly divided into normal control group, Scop model group, taurine groups (0.3, 0.75, 1.875 g?kg -1) and Piracetam group (positive control group). The drugs were continually intra-gastrically administrated for 5 days. On day 5, after intraperitoneal injection of scopolamine, mice were subjected to Morris water maze test. 5 days later, M-cholinregic receptor binding was assayed by radio ligand binding test. Results Compared with model group, significant decrease of swimming time and distance in Morris water maze test was observed in all 3 taurine groups. Taurine at middle dose increased M-cholinergic receptor binding in the brain of model mice. Conclusion Taurine effectively improves learning-memory ability in model mice induced by scopolamine injection. The mechanism relates with the improvement of M-cholinergic receptors of brain.
