The application of MOOCs (massive open online courses) in internal medicine education is feasible with the construction of MOOCs in internal medicine, internet and mobile terminal availability, and the improvement of college student quality. We reviewed the progress of MOOCs in the medical teach-ing. The chapter of coronary heart disease was exemplified to illustrate how to apply MOOCs in internal medicine teaching. The MOOCs was carried out with the following steps: the share of MOOCs courses, self-guided learning, online question and answer section, in-class teaching and exams post MOOCs, which achieved good teaching effect, enhanced students' subjectivity, and promoted the sharing of high-quality medi-cal teaching resources. At the same time, in view of the limited nature of MOOCs in internal medicine, we need to overcome it in the development of teaching practice.

AIM: To evaluate the relationship between the medial rectus cells counts in concomitant exotropia and surgical results. METHODS: A total of 32 pieces of medial rectus muscle were collected for HE staining in this study, of which 18 pieces were from patients with concomitant exotropia and 14 pieces were from healthy individuals. A method of strabismus score was used to assess the operative effect.RESULTS: The difference of strabismus score before and after the operation in the intermittent exotropia group was significantly higher than that in constant exotropic group (P<0.01). Under light microscope, the loosen muscle fibers and the increased stromal components in the cross sectional area of medial rectus were observed in strabismic group. The muscle cells counts was obviously lower in strabismic group than in control group (P<0.01), which was related to the difference of strabismus score before and after the operation (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The decreased medial rectus cells counts induce concomitant exotropia directly. It is the crucial causes of the bad surgical results.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the incidence of the mitochondrial DNA 12SrRNA A1555G and connexin 26 gene (GJB2) in Chinese northwest population with nonsyndromic sensorineural hearing loss, and to explore the relationship between mitochondrial DNA A1555G and mutation of GJB2 gene. METHODS Blood samples were obtained from 221 patients with nonsyndromic sensorineural hearing loss in Northwest of China; Genomic DNA was extracted from the isolated leukocytes ; Screening the mitochondrial A1555G mutation by PCR-Alw26l digestion and sequence analysis, PCR and direct sequencing were used to analyze the coding region of GJB2 gene. RESULTS The homoplasmic A1555G mutation was found in 21 individuals of 221 patients,17 of these 21 patients had been treated with aminoglycosides. Eleven different variants of GJB2 were found in all patients ,the disease-causing mutations of GJB2 were 44 individuals in these patients(44/221), The mutation 235delC is found in 54.54 % of all disease-causing mutations ; Among 21 patients with the A1555G mutation, 11 cases were found polymorphic change in GJB2 gene ,only 1 case had V37I heterozygous mutations ,other 9 cases were not found any nucleotide changes of GJB2 gene. CONCLUSION The mtDNA 12SrRNA A1555G mutation has a high incidence in Chinese northwest population with non-syndromic sensorineural hearing loss. The 235delC mutation in the GJB2 gene is most frequent mutations responsible for non-syndromic hearing impairment in this region .It is unlikely that the GJB2 gene is a major modulatory factor for hearing loss due to the A1555G mutation in Chinese population.

To study the toxicokinetics of bakuchiol, hepatic and renal toxicity in rats after single oral administration of Psoraleae Fructus and combined with Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, in order to provide scientific evidences for clinical safe medication use. A total of 35 SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups: vehicle (distilled water) control group, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma group, positive control (aristolochic acid A) group, Psoraleae Fructus (40 g x kg(-1)) group( both male and female rats), Psoraleae Fructus and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (40 +20) g x kg(-1) group (both male and female rats). HPLC-UV method was used to determine the concentration of bakuchiol in rat plasma at different time points after single oral administration. Plasma alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), plasma creatinine (Cr), N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) and kidney injury molecule 1 (Kim-1) were measured after administration for 24 h. The main toxicokinetics parameters of bakuchiol in rats exert significantly gender difference. When Psoraleae Fructus combination with Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, the total area under the plasma concentration-time curve( AUC), C(max), and plasma clearance (CL) of bakuchiol were increased, respectively; CL, half-life (t½) were decreased, and T(max) were prolonged. The biochemical indicators (including ALT, AST, BUN, Cr and KIM-1 level) in different dose of Psoraleae Fructus groups, were found no statistically significant difference when compared with vehicle control group. The level of NAG in both Psoraleae Fructus and compatibility with Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma groups were significant increased (P < 0.05). There are obvious effects on toxicokinetics of bakuchiol in rats when Psoraleae Fructus combined with Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma. Renal toxicity induced by Psoraleae Fructus at high dose was observed after single oral administration and no liver damage in rats was found.
