Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of acute intestinal perforation in the patients with colorectal carcinoma. Methods The clinical data of 38 colorectal carcinomas complicated with acute intestinal perforation treated in our hospital during 19 years were analyzed retrospectively. Results Acute intestinal perforation was common in old patients with colorectal carcinoma (mean age 62 years).The primary lesions were mostly located in left-side colon and superior rectum(27/38,71.1%). The perforation in the proximal colon of tumor and cecum accounted for 81.6%(31/38), and in tumor site accounted for 18.4%(7/38). The correct rate of preoperative diagnosis was only 15.8%(6/38). The postoperative complications were common and severe. The perioperative mortality was 42.1%(16/38). All the causes of death were multiple organ function deficiency. There were close relations between perioperative mortality and operation time. The postoperative recurrent rate was 41.2%(7/17). Five-year survival rate was 23.5%(4/17). Conclusion Early diagnosis, early operation and active prevention and treatment of multiple organ function deficiency were key to decrease the mortality of the colorectal carcinoma patients with acute intestinal perforation.

Objective To analyze the prognosis of 225 patients according with clinical staging of esophageal carcinoma treated with non-surgical methods, and investigate the practicality and predictive value of the clinical staging. Methods From March 2001 to July 2007, 225 patients with esophageal carcinoma received 3DCRT treatment. The prescribed doses were ranged from 5000 -7000 cGy with the median dose of 6400 cGy, 25 patients received accelerative radiation of 300 cGy per fraction after conventional radiotherapy of 3000 -4000 cGy, 57 patients received concurrent chemotherapy with or without consolidation chemotherapy. All the patients were divided into subgroups of different T stages, different N stages and different TNM stages. Local control rates, survival rates were observed and Cox regression analysis were performed to search valuable prognostic factors. Results The following-up rate was 99. 6%. The 3-and 5-years following-up number were 116 and 33 patients, respectively. The 1 -,3-,and 5-year local control rates were 77. 2% ,48.2% and 34. 5%, respectively. The 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates were 68.4% ,33.7% and 20. 8%, respectively. The median survival time was 20 months. There were significant difference between survival curves for T1-4 stages, N0-2 stages and Ⅰ - Ⅲ stages with x2 value of 13.07,20. 49 and 17.16, with P value of 0. 004,0. 000 and 0. 000, respectively. For the group of stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ, the 1-,3-,and 5-year survival rates were 89.4% ,56. 1% ,and 37.8% ;69.6% ,32. 4% ,and 18.0%and 47. 2%, 19. 5%, and 13. 0%, respectively. According to the result of Cox regression analysis, the tumor length of CT scan, clinical N stage, short term restlt were most valuable predictive factors.Conclusions The clinical staging of esophageal carcinoma treated with non-surgical methods could predict the prognosis accurately, clinical N stage may have more closely association with prognosis, however, some details of the staging program need more consummate.

Radiation therapy is one of the important comprehensive treatment strategies for thoracic neoplasms,but it also can cause radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD) which can affect the quality of life and even endanger the lives of patients while killing tumor.With the development of comprehensive treatment for cancer,the patients achieve better survival outcomes.And the study reported about RIHD increased as well,which made RIHD became an important complication of thoracic neoplasms' treatment.Though modem radiotherapy techniques and new therapeutic principles have significantly made the incidence of RIHD decreased,the harm of RIHD should not be ignored.In this article,we review the research progress of RIHD.

This paper was designed to study the effects of cellulose, pectin and ag-ar at 10% level on the concentration of serum total cholesterol (TC), trigly-ceride (TG) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in rats. Male adult Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups and fed on basal diet, hypercholesterolemic diet (control diet) and 3 test diets (contain 10% cellulose, pectin or agar respectively) for 6 weeks. ObjectiveTo study the effects and feasibility of balloon dilatation on cricopharyngeal achalasia in children with dysphagia. MethodsOne 21-month-old child was reported. ResultsAfter 14 times dilatation therapy, the video fluoroscopic swallowing study showed that the bolus can pass the cricopharyngeus. The residuals in the epiglottis and piriform sinuses reduced. No bucking and aspiration happened and the cricopharygeus muscle relaxed normally. The gastric tube can be removed and the child got full per-oral nutrition. ConclusionBalloon dilatation is effective to relax the cricopharygeus muscle and improve the swallowing function of children with dysphagia because of cricopharyngeal achalasia.
