Objective To evaluate the effect of various herniorraphy in treating inguinal hernia. Methods The clinical data of 108 patients who underwent conventional Bassini herniorraphy (BH), tension free herniorraphy (TH), or laparoscopic herniorraphy (LH),respectively were analysed and comparated. Results The operation time in TH was less than that in BH, and in LH was longer than that in TH. The ability recovery, hospita stay and postoperative complication in TH and LH were less than those in BH.All the patients were followed up for at least 1 year.Of them, 1 recurred after BH, but there was no recurrence after TH and LH. The blood neutrophils, serum level of fibrin, C-reactive protein and alpha-1 antitrypsin increased significantly in the patients undergoing herniorraphy, which were significantly higher in the patients underwent TH and LH. Conclusions The curative effect of TH and LH is much better than that of BH in treating ingumal hernia. Application of marlex for herniorraphy might increase inflammation response, but it will not increase the incidence of infection.

Background Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most important microvascular complications of diabetes,which has become one of the leading causes of blindness.Neovascularization is the main pathological manifestations of DR,but its mechanism is unknown.There is a clear need to investigate its pathogenesis which can offer potential therapeutic targets.Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the expression and distribution of visfatin and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in diabetic model rats.Methods This study was approved by Animal Ethic Committee of Inner Mongolia Medical University.Sixty SPF 8-week-old male SpragueDawley rats were randomized into the diabetic group and control group.The rats were housed under a condition that alternated between 12 hours of light and darkness,with free access to rat food and water.Diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of 60 mg/kg (0.60 ml/100 g) of streptozotocin (STZ) and control rats received equivalent volume of buffer.The models were regarded as successful when blood glucose was ≥ 16.7 mmol/L.Rats were sacrificed 12 weeks after the injection of STZ and retinal specimens were prepared to detect the expression of visfatin and VEGF.Total retinal protein was isolated from the retinas of experimental and control eyes,and the expression of visfatin and VEGF was assessed by Western blot.Frozen cross sections of retinas of 5 μm thickness were used to perform double immunofluorescence staining with anti-visfatin and anti-VEGF antibodies.Results Mean body weight of the diabetic rats was (189.02±11.34) g and that of the control rats was (489.57 ± 14.48) g at 12 weeks post-injection,showing a significant difference between them (t =5.236,P =0.003).Mean blood glucose level was (29.25±3.86) mmol/L in the diabetic group and (5.32±1.01) mmol/L in the control group,demonstrating a significant difference (t =11.778,P =0.000).Double immunofluorescence staining showed reduced expression of visfatin and VEGF in the retinal nerve fibrous layer and glial cells in the control rats.A stronger staining for visfatin and VEGF was found in the various layers of the retina in the diabetic rats,with an expression level of visfatin (A value) of 346.26±41.23,which was considerably higher than that of the control group (102.07±65.01) (t =8.291,P =0.000) in 12 weeks after injection.Furthermore,the expression of VEGF in the retina was elevated in the diabetic group compared with the control group (A value) (415.88±92.15 vs.113.06±32.06) (t=10.067,P=0.000).Conclusions Visfatin might contribute to the pathologic progression of diabetic retinal,neovascularization and it might play a synergistic role with VEGF in the pathophysiology of DR.

Objective To elucidate the expression pattern of E-cadherin/catenin adhesion complex and its association with pathologic features in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Methods Fifty-two non-keratinizing NPC specimens with adjacent non-neoplastic mucosa were examined for E-cadherin,?-CATenin,?-CATenin.Results Abnormal expression rate of E-cadherin,?-catenin and ?-catenin in NPCs were 48.1%(25/52),32.7%(17/52) and 34.6%(18/52),respectively,whereas all adjacent non-neoplastic tissues normally expressed these proteins.Difference of expression of E-cadherin,?-catenin and ?-catenin between tumor tissues and non-cancerous tissues was statistically significant(P

BACKGROUND:Ligustrazine has been shown to restore the function of the femoral headviathe revascularization, increased blood flow, theabsorption ofnecroticbone, and bone regeneration. OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of ligustrazine on remodeling of periodontal tissues and the expression of osteoprotegerin in the maintenance phase in rats with orthodontic tooth movement. METHODS:Thirty-two healthy male Wistar rats were included and equaly randomized into four groups. Maxilary left first molar mesialization was performed through traction of 50 g force for 21 days to establish the rat model of tooth movement. 5, 10, 15 mg/L ligustrazine (50 μL) were localy injected into the first molar periosteum in model rats on the day before removing the orthodontic forcing device. Same volume of saline was injected in the control group. The injection was administered every other day. At 1 and 4 weeks after injection, the distance of tooth movement, the recurrence distances and percentage were determined and calculated. The pathological changes in periodontal tissues were observed by immunohistochemistry and hematoxylin-eosin staining. The width ofthe parodontium and number of osteoblasts were observed under an optical microscope. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The recurrence distance inthecontrol group was increased compared withtheexperimental group, while the number of osteoblasts and osteoprotegerin immunoreactivity were decreased. Good width of the parodontium and smal recurrence trend were found in 10mg/L ligustrazine group. These findings indicate that ligustrazine promotes the proliferation of osteoblasts and enhances the expression of osteoprotegerin, which is beneficial to the retention of teeth after orthodontic surgery.

Objective To study the characteristics of plasma adiponectin levels exhibiting in gestation women and newborns, as well as the relationships between adiponectin levels and fetal birth weight. Methods Totally 98 subjects have been considered in this study, in-cluding venous blood samples of 36 healthy non-pregnant women (control group), 31 uncomplicated pregnant women (pregnancies group) and the cord blood samples taken at delivery of their singleton infants born at term (newborns group). The concentrations of adiponectin and insulin were determined by radioimmunoassay technique. And SPSS was used for statistical analyses. Results The adiponectin level in women of late period of gestation (WLPG) (11.10±5.72)g/ml was lower than that of other two groups, and the newborns average cord plasma level of adiponectin was (30.71±12.77) g/ml significantly higher than that of the control group (16.52±6.87) g/ml. The adipone-ctin level for WLPG was correlated with FINS and HOMA-IR (r = -0.411, -0.393, P <0.05). The adiponectin level in cord plasma was positively correlated with birth weight(r = 0.416, P < 0.05). The adiponectin level in WLPG was correlated neither with the adiponec-tin level nor body weights of their newborns. Conclusions The average cord plasma adiponectin level of newboms is significantly higher than that of the control group and WLPG. It is positively correlated with birth weight, which suggests that adiponectin may be involved in reg-ulating fetal growth. The adiponectin level in WLPG is correlated neither with the adiponectin level nor body weights of their newborns.

Objective: To systematically investigate the prevalence of anxiety among healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic, so as to provide the development of evidence-based psychological interventions among healthcare professionals. Methods: The publications pertaining to the prevalence of anxiety among healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic were retrieved in national and international electronic databases from January 1, 2020 through November 30, 2021, including CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed and Web of Science. The quality of publications was evaluated using the United States Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) quality assessment of included cross-sectional studies, and the pooled prevalence of anxiety was estimated among healthcare professionals using the software Open Meta Analyst version 3.0. The publication bias were evaluated with funnel plots and Begg rank correlation test. Results: Totally 598 publications were retrieved, and 36 eligible publications were enrolled in the final analysis, including 33 Chinese publications and 3 English publications. There were 5 high-quality, 29 moderate-quality and 2 low-quality publications. All investigations pertaining to the prevalence of anxiety among healthcare professionals were conducted in 2020. Totally 19 872 healthcare professionals were investigated, and the prevalence of anxiety was 28.8% (95%CI: 24.0%-33.6%). Subgroup analysis showed that the prevalence of anxiety was 31.9% (95%CI: 17.6%-46.2%) among healthcare professionals from western China, 29.6% (95%CI: (17.8%-41.4%) from central China, and 25.3% (95%CI: 20.2%-30.3%) from eastern China. The prevalence of anxiety was 4.9% (95%CI: 3.3%-6.4%) among male healthcare professionals and 22.9% (95%CI: 17.7%-28.0%) among male healthcare professionals, and the prevalence of anxiety was 21.6% (95%CI: 13.2%-29.9%) among nurses, 5.2% (95%CI: 2.8%-7.5%) among doctors and 4.8% (95%CI: 2.2%-7.4%) among other healthcare professionals. The prevalence of mild, moderate and severe anxiety was 18.6% (95%CI: 14.0%-23.2%), 5.5% (95%CI: 4.1%-6.8%) and 1.9% (95%CI: 1.3%-2.5%), respectively. No publication bias was detected as revealed by funnel plots and Begg rank correlation test, and stable meta-analysis results and heterogeneity test were observed. Conclusions The prevalence of anxiety is 28.8% among healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic, and mild anxiety is predominant. A high prevalence rate of anxiety is seen female healthcare professionals and nurses, who should be given a high priority and timely psychological interventions

Objective To observe the effects of electroacupuncture at Ouch Point on proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), Desmin and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) expression in gastrocnemius muscle, and explore the possible mechanisms of the effect. Methods 78 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into model group (n=6), blank group (n=24), self-repair group (n=24) and electroacupuncture group (n=24). Each of the later 3 groups was divided into 1 d, 4 d, 7 d and 14 d subgroups, 6 rats in each subgroup. The model group, self-repair group and electroacupuncture group were modeled by gastrocnemius muscle crush injury combined with eccentric exercise-induced injury. After that, the model group given HE stain, and the other groups were given correspondent approach according to time point and immunohistochemical technology was used to test the expression of PCNA, Desmin and bFGF. Results PCNA expression was higher in the self-repair group than in the blank group at each time point (P<0.01). Desmin expression was lower in the self-repair group than in the blank group 1 d and 14 d after injury (P<0.05), but higher 7 d after injury (P>0.05). bFGF expression was higher in the self-repair group than in the blank group 7 d after injury (P<0.01). PCNA, bFGF and Desmin expression were higher in the electroacupuncture group than in the self-repair group 1 d and 4 d after injury (P<0.05). Conclusion Electroacupuncture at Ouch Point can promote the proliferation of muscle satellite cells, accelerate the myogenic differentiation and shorten the repair process, which may be related to the increased and advanced expression of bFGF.

Background Research showed that the morbidity rate of primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) in Mongolian population is 3.02 times more than Han nationality population.To understand the cause and mechanism of PACG in Mongolia is of an important significance.Objective This study was to investigate the pathogenesis of Mongolian PACG.Methods Thirty-two eyes of 32 PACG patients in Mongolia and 40 eyes of 40 PACG patients of Han peoples were included in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Hospital according to the diagnosis criteria of glaucoma group of Chinese Medical Ophthalmology Association (version 1987),and 13 eyes of 13 normal Mongolia and 17 eyes of 17 normal Han peoples who suffered with ocular truma were recruited as controls.Intraocular pressure(IOP) was measured before surgery.The trabecular meshwork tissue was obtained from all the eyes during the operation.Annexinv-FITC/PI double staining was performed and the apoptosis rate of trabecula cells was tested with flow cytometry.Written informed consent was obtained initial of the study.Results The IOP value in Mongolia PACG group,Han PACG group,Mengolia normal group and Han normal group was (35.97±7.11)mmHg,(38.70± 6.82) mmHg,(14.69 ± 2.91) mmHg and (13.59 ± 2.91) mmHg,respectively,showing a significant difference among the 4 groups(F=106.144,P=0.000),and the IOP was significantly higher in the Mengolia PACG group and Han PACG group than the normal groups(P＜0.05).The apoptosis rate of the cells was (7.14±0.67)％,(5.40±0.69) ％,(5.86±0.91) ％ and(2.29±0.65) ％ in the Mongolia PACG group,Han PACG group,Mongolia normal group and Han normal group,respectively,with a significant difference among them (F =174.888,P =0.000),and apoptosis rate of the Mongolia PACG group was significantly higher than that of the Han PACG group and the Mongolia normal group (P＜0.05).No significant difference was found between the Mongolia PACG group and the Han PACG group or between the Mongolia normal group and Han normal group (P＞0.05).The cell apoptosis rate was increased with the elevation of IOP (b =0.990,F=10.209,P =0.009) with the regression equition Y =2.788 +0.092X.Conclusions The apoptosis rate of trabecula cells in Mongolian is higher than Han people.If these results are associated with the high incidence of Mengolia PACG is worth of study.
