ObjectiveTo study the impact of high chromium yeast on type 2 diabetic mice.MethodsA total of 60 Balb/C mice were used in this study.Fifty mice were injected with streptozotocin to induce type 2 diabetes, while the ten mice without injection were in the normal group. The type 2 diabetic mice were divided into 5groups according to their fasting blood sugar levels, including 3 groups receiving high chromium yeast at low [250μg/ (kg· d)],medium [500 μg/ (kg,d)],and high [1000 μg/ (kg· d)] doses,1 group receiving metformin ( positive control),and 1 group receiving normal yeast ( negative control). The yeast or metformin were given through by gastric lavage daily for 15 weeks.Body mass and blood biochemical indexes (fasting blood glucose, glucose tolerance, etc) were determined, and the pathological examination of pancreas was conducted. Results Compared with negative control group, medium dose high chromium yeast group had significantly lower triglyceride ( P =0.043 ),low and medium dose groups had lower total cholesterol ( P =0.006,P =0.003 ),low and high dose groups had higher insulin levels (P =0.011,P =0.002),and high dose group had significantly reduced glycosylated hemoglobin (P =0.027).Pathological examination of pancreatic islets revealed that medium and high dose groups did not develop infiltration of inflammatory cells.ConclusionsHigh chromium yeast may improve type 2 diabetes mellitus.Further studies are needed to confirm the conclusion of this study with an organic chromium control group.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(06):-
AIM To study toxicity of Safflor Yellew (SY) for vascular endothelic cell (VEC) and whether SY has antagonistic effect on platelet activating factor (PAF). METHODS Use light microscopical observation and crystal violet colorimetric method to study morphological and bioactivity change of HVEC and EVC 304 after incubated with PAF, SY, SY+PAF, Ginkolide, and Ginkolide+PAF. RESULTS Cultured with PAF 30 minutes, HVEC had histopathological changes: from fusiform, polygond squamous cell to ellipsoid, circular cell , not binding tightly, but separated by wide gap. As cultured with SY+PAF, cell's morphological changes just as same as PAF's group. And its bioactivity had tendency of decline. Either HVEC was incubated with SY (0.571 g?L -1 ) for 30 minutes or EVC 304 cultured with SY(1 143 g?L -1 ) for 4 hours, their morphology and bioactivity had changes. CONCLUSION SY do not inhibit PAF's injury effect. And high concentration SY has toxicity to cultured endothelic cell.

Objective To evaluate the distribution and drug resistance of bacteria causing neonatal infectious pneumonia in Jiaxing, and to provide a therapy for clinical doctor to make a correct diagnosis, choose reasonable anti-biotics and avoid abuse of antibiotics. Methods Took expectoration from trachea in condition of asepsis to conduct culture and perform drug-sensitive test from 3025 cases. Results Totally 1 156 strains of aerobic bacteria were iso-lated.875 strains were gram negative bacilli(75.7%),269 strains were gram positive cocci(23.3%),and 12 strains were fungi(1.0%).Klebsiella pneumoiae,Escherichia coil,Acinetobacter baumanni,Enterobacter cloacae were com-mon in gram negative bacilli( respectively 178 cases,151 cases,87 cases,113 cases) .The proportion of the Staphylo-coccus aureus was the largest in gram positive cocci(245 cases) .The results showed that gram-negative bacilli were resistant to cefazolin, ampicillin, piperacillin and sensitive to meropenem, imipenem, piperacillin-tazuobatanna and cefoperazone-sulbactam.The drug resistance was severe of ESBL-positive.Staphylococcus aureus was resistant to penicillin, ampicillin, erythrocin, clindamycin and sensitive to linezolid, vancomycin, nitrofurantoin. Conclusion Gram-negative bacilli are the main bacteria in neonatals with infectious pneumonia. The drug resistance is severe. It is important to make a standard management and isolation.

Objective To study the efficacy and safety of tacalcitol combined with monochromatic excimer light (MEL) 308 nm vs MEL 308 nm monotherapy in treating vitiligo. Methods Thirty-eight pa- tients with vitiligo were enrolled in the single-blind clinical trial, using plabebo-treated lesions in the same patient as controls.Contralateral or nearby lesions were randomly selected to be treated by either tacalcitol or placebo. All lesions were treated weekly with MEL 308 nm,for a total of 12 sessions.Patients were ex- amined at monthly intervals. The mean number of sessions and the cumulative dosage for initial and excel- lent repigrnentation were calculated. Results Thirty-five patients were evaluated. The mean?SEM cumu- lative dose and number of MEL exposures for initial repigmentation, respectively, were 4.27?3.59 J/cm~2 and 4.89?3.16 on tacalcitol-treated site,5.36?4.12 J/cm~2 and 5.69?3.29 on placebo-treated site,re- spectively (both P<0.05).For excellent repigrnentation, the cumulative dose and number of exposures were 7.72?5.64 J/cm~2 and 7.79?4.70 respectively on tacalcitol-treated site, and 8.18?4.87 J/cm~2 and 8.4?3.92 respectively on placebo-treated site (both P>0.05).Treatment with tacalcitol resulted in a sig- nificantly higher percentage (71.4% vs 54.3%) of repigmentation than that with placebo. Conclusions Our results show that MEL 308 nm is safe and effective for the treatment of vitiligo.Additionally,concur- rent topical tacalcitol potentiates the efficacy of MEL 308 nm in the treatment of vitiligo;this combination achieves more rapid pigmentation with a lower total MEL dosage.

The oncogenic product of BCR-ABL is an abnormal tyrosine kinase that causes chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). With further research into the pathogenesis of CML, the discovery of compounds that selectively inhibit abnormal BCR-ABL tyrosine kinases is a research focus worthy of attention. The first three generations of BCR-ABL inhibitors are orthosteric inhibitors, which competitively block the binding of ABL protein tyrosine kinase to ATP and prevent it from activating downstream signals. The fourth-generation BCR-ABL inhibitors allosterically inhibit ABL protein tyrosine kinase by binding to the myristoyl pocket, providing greater selectivity and maintaining activity against drug-resistant mutations proteins. Novel drug design strategies such as proteolytic targeting chimera (PROTAC), covalent inhibitors and dual targeting inhibitors also provide new directions for the development of BCR-ABL kinase inhibitors. This paper reviews recent research advances on BCR-ABL kinase inhibitors and discusses drug design strategies for various novel BCR-ABL inhibitors.

The DNA structures could be altered or even damaged by exogeous or endogenous factors during cell proliferation. Failure of effective and timely repair will lead to cell cycle arrest or apoptosis. By taking the advantage of the quick proliferation of cancer cells, DNA damage induction, cell cycle arrest and apoptosis promotion have become important strategies for ant-cancer chemotherapy. Previous reports showed that an array of natural compounds inhibit cancer cell proliferation by inducing DNA damage, which have therapeutic potentials for anti-cancer drug research and development.
