1. Advances in long non-coding RNA in prostate cancer
Tumor 2014;34(2):187-190
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are RNA transcripts longer than 200 nt without any protein coding ability. LncRNAs perform biological functions through a variety of mechanisms. They have a close association with human tumors, regulating the expression of genes at the epigenetic, transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. LncRNAs are wildly involved in biological and pathological process and play a significant role in the development of cancer. This article reviews the research in the current status of lncRNAs in prostate cancer. Copyright © 2014 by TUMOR.
2.Vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane peeling for treating foveoschisis in high myopia
International Eye Science 2014;(10):1871-1872
AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane ( ILM) peeling for treating foveoschisis in high myopia.
METHODS:Thirty high-myopia patients (30 eyes) with foveoschisis from March 2011 to March 2013 were divided two groups: the treatment group ( 16 eyes ) was treated with vitrectomy combined with ILM peeling, and the control group (14 eyes) was treated only with vitrectomy. The foveoschisis reattachment and and best spectacle-correction were measured preoperatively and 2mo after surgery.
RESULTS: The improvement of foveoschisis reattachment and best spectacle - correction in the treatment group was significantly better than those in the control group (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Vitrectomy combined with ILM peeling is a safe and effective treatment for foveoschisis in high myopia.

5.Manual reduction of children's Monteggia fractures associated with anterior interosseous nerve injury.
China Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2014;27(10):862-865
OBJECTIVETo study clinical results of the manual reduction in treatment.
METHODSFrom October 2010 to April 2013,39 children with Monteggia fracture associated with anterior interosseous nerve injury were treated by manual reduction and fixation on buckling rotation backward, including 17 females and 22 males with an average age of 6.3 years old ranging from 3.2 to 11 years old. Among them, 15 cases were on the right side and 24 cases on the left. The course of disease was 40 minutes to 8 days (averaged 1.5 days). There were 7 cases with skateboard injured, 13 cases with stumble injured, 11 cases with falling injured,8 cases with air bed injured. According to Bado classification, 13 cases were type II, 22 cases were type III, 4 cases were type IV.
RESULTSThe distal forefinger showed exercise normally in 34 cases at 3 weeks after treatment, and the patients restored normal activities at 6 weeks after treatment. All patients were follow-up from 54 days to 6 months (averaged 67 days. According to Mayo elbow functional evaluation standard, the scoring result was 19.62±1.35 in activity, 45.00 ± 0.00 in pain, 9.87 ± 0.80 in stability, 25.00±0.00 in strength, 99.49 ±1.92 in total. The outcome of all patients was excellent and good evaluation results.
CONCLUSIONIf the anterior interosseous nerve injury could be identified early and treated timely, patients could gradually restore reasonable function and recover with satisfactory results. Raising understanding of anterior interosseous nerve injury can effectively reduce misdiagnosis.

Objective To observe the effects of exogenous basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on radiation-induced apoptosis of C17.2 neural stem cells(NSCs) and explore the relationship between bFGF and Hes1,RBP-JK protein. Methods The cell viability was assessed using the MTT assay. After the cells attach to the flasks they were irradiated by the linear accelerator. And 5 min later, different concentrations of bFGF in accordance with the experimental design and cultured cells 48 h.Extracted total protein of each group and Western blot analysis showed the changes of the Hes1,RBP-JK protein. Results Compared with the control group, irradiation group cell growth was inhibited, the OD of 0 ng/ml bFGF group was 0.61±0.81,the OD of 80 ng/ml bFGF group was 1.21±1.01 and the control group was 1.51± 1.13.Compared with the control group, all groups showed statistically significant difference (P< 0.05).Western blot analysis showed that with the increasing concentrations of bFGF,RBP-JK expression gradually decreased, but Hes1 expression gradually increased. Conclusion Exogenous basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) can inhibit apoptosis of C17.2 NSCs.bFGF can regulate Notch signaling pathway downstream proteins Hes1,RBP-JK expression and inhibit neural stem cell apoptosis which were irradiated.

OBJECTIVE To compare the treatment effects of secreory otitis media with artificial eustachian tube insertion and tympanotomy tube insertion. To provide useful information for the treatment of secretory otitis media.METHODS Seventy-one patients(86 ears) with secretory otitis media were randomly divided into tow groups:experimental group(36 cases,44 ears) and control group(35 cases 42 ears). The experimental group was treated by artificial eustachian tube insertion under nasal endoscope.Drugs were injected through the tube into the tympanic cavity everyday after flushing it. The control group were treated by traditional method—the tympanic ventilation tube. All patients were followed up for 6 months.RESULTS The experimental group: 21 ears(47.73%) were cured,19 ears(43.18%) were straightened up,and no effects observed in 4 ears (9.09%).The control group:12 ears(28.57%) cured,17 ears(40.48%) wered straightened up and no effects obsered in 13 ears(30.95%).The efficiency rate of the experimental group(90.91%) was much higher than the control group(69.05%,P

Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(08):-
Objective To investigate the effect of contrast material flow rate and delayed time on intracranial vascular spiral computed tomographic angiography(SCTA) imaging. Methods 30 patients were selected randomly who planed to do brain contrast enhanced CT examination. In all 30 patients a plane dynamic test scanning at suprasellar cistern level was preformed with 20ml contrast material at a flow rate of 2ml/s,3ml/s and 4ml/s respectively.A time-densty cure was originated from data collected with the software of Time-Lapse.Results The summit time of most intense enhancement of arteriovena was significantly shortened when the flow rate was increased from 2ml/s to 3ml/s or 4ml/s,and the summit time was shortened without satistically difference when the flow rate was increased from 3ml/s to 4ml/s.Conclusions The circulation time test with a little volume contrast material can become a routine procedure of SCTA examination to determine the best delayed time. The suitable flow rate of intracranial vascular SCTA is 3ml/s.

Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2000;0(04):-
Objective To explore the effect of ischemia-reperfusion injury on the retinal functions of rats. Methods Seventy Wistar rats were selected, 20 of which were selected randomly and divided into two groups (control group and single-irrigated group). The rats were anesthetized and their anterior chambers of the right eyes were cannulated with a 7-gauge needle connected to a reservoir containing ringers balanced salt solution, which was maintained at the same level of the eye for 1 hour. After that, ERG was recorded in both eyes of all rats. All the left rats were divided randomly into 10 groups and they were treated as the single-irrigated group. Retinal ischemia was induced by raising the reservoir to a height of 150 mm Hg. One hour later except the single ischemia group, all of the groups resumed perfusion after 3,6,12,and 24 hours and 3,5,7,14,and 21 days separately. ERG was recorded in both eyes of all rats. Results There was no difference in the results of ERG between left and right eyes in either the control group or the single-irrigated group. All the waves of ERG vanished in the single-ischemia group after 1 hour. In the ischemia-reperfusion groups, the waves of ERG partly recovered and the amplitude reduced persistently and progressively. Conclusion Ischemia-reperfusion injury may affect the function of the retina persistently and progressively.
