2.Research progress on microRNA related to diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2012;21(12):763-766
microRNA (miRNA) is a class of endogenous small non-coding RNA (20-25 nt) which can regulate the expression of protein-coding genes post-transcriptionally and participate in a series of critical biological processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, metabolism, apoptosis,et al.Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common lymphoma subtype.DLBCL is defined as the malignant lymphoma which originates from the B cells, with aggressive clinical behaviors and significant clinical heterogeneity. In recent years, the researches on miRNA in DLBCL have shown that several kinds of miRNA directly involved in the occurrence and development of tumors and there is a correlation between the miRNA expression profiles and molecular subtypes of DLBCL.As a kind of new molecular target,miRNA has a broad prospect in the application both for diagnosis and biotherapy of DLBCL.

6.Experience of Professor Liu Lin Using Sanren Decoction to Treat Pediatric Diseases
Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2016;40(8):610-612
Objective] The article summarizes the experience of using sanren decoction to treat pediatric diseases by Professor Liu Lin, the famous TCM physician of Hubei. [Methods] Through following Professor Liu Lin clinical diagnosis, organize his medical records, summarize the experience and thoughts of using Sanren decoction to treat pediatric diseases, and for some cases. [Results] Professor Liu Lin believes that the physiological and pathological characteristics of children prone to cause hot and humid accumulation, pediatric Chih-Yin is not substantial, with their lungs often delicate and spleens often inadequate, they prone to get hot and humid accumulation after sick, and later appear a variety of symptoms including upper burner, center burner and lower burner. Therefore, the treatment of pediatric disease should take the heat into account, bearing in mind the residence site of heat evil and syndrome differentiation. Professor Liu Lin makes good use of Sanren decoction to treat a variety of pediatric diseases, judging the residence site of heat evil and clinical manifestations, giving the corresponding treatment flexibly. Such as the treatment of bronchitis with almonds as the monarch herb to expectorant cough, treatment of infantile anorexia with White Kou Ren as the monarch herb to activate spleen and remove dampness, treatment of children with nephrotic syndrome with Yiyiren as the monarch herb for penetration of water, treatment of HFMD with the Sanren to regulate Qi of triple burner, according to the symptoms to medicate and always has good clinical effect. [Conclusion] Professor Liu Lin using Sanren decoction to treat pediatric diseases is effective, his thought is worthy of depth study and promotion.
7.Inhibitory effects of Ad-VEGI151 on venous endothelial cell proliferation
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2001;0(09):-
Objective:To study the inhibitory effects of adenovirus mediated vascular endothelial cell growth inhibitor 151(VEGI_(151)) on venous endothelial cell proliferation. Methods: VEGI_(151) gene was cloned into adenovirus vector pCA13 and the product was packaged and amplified with 293A cells. The expressed protein was identified by Western blot. X-gal staining was used to determine the transfection efficiency of the recombinant adenovirus system. The inhibitory effect of Ad-VEGI_(151) on ECV304 cell proliferarion was observed and assessed by violet crystal assay. The protein expression of VEGI_(151) gene in ECV304 cells was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results: Liposome-mediated pCA13-VEGI_(151) and pJM17 cotransfection of 293A cells (through homologous recombination of intracellular plasmid) is a practical and feasible method to obtain high-titre recombinant adenovirus. The constructed Ad-VEGI_(151), with high transfection efficiency, significantly inhibited ECV304 cells proliferation and expressed functional protein in target cells. Conclusion: Ad-VEGI_(151) can express bioactive protein in target cells and can inhibit the proliferation of venous endothelial cells, and this may pave a new way for gene therapy of tumors and neovascular diseases.
8.Advances in the clinical application of virtual liver surgery
Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2012;11(2):108-110
Three-dimensional modeling of the liver using CT scan or MRI data improves surgical planning.Threedimensional simulation of hepatectomy facilitates intraoperative identification of the vascular anatomy and control of the hepatic blood flew, and accurately predicts the volume of liver to be resected and surgical margins.Preoperative virtual hepatectomy might be useful not only to facilitate laparoscopic hepatectomy but also to improve therapeutic efficacy. A virtual navigation system enables users to revert to previously recorded digital imaging data at any time during radiofrequency ablation procedures. The spatial information gained from three-dimensional imaging facilitates an appropriate needle path to the target and projects the intended ablation area in three dimenisions. The safety and efficacy of radiofrequency ablation assisted by this navigation system may substantially improve as it is used in clinical practice. Augmented reality superimposes the preoperative threedimensional liver model onto the real intraoperative view of the patient.Augmented reality provides surgeons with a transparent view of the liver and guides surgeons by providing virtual augmentation of their real surgical tools. These virtally augmented tools are tracked in real-time during the procedure, thereby optimizing therapy.
9.Update on the side effects of antithyroid drugs
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2011;27(6):529-532
Antithyroid drugs(ATD)is the main treatment for hyperthyroidism and its adverse reactions have been much concerned by physicians. Methimazole(MMI)and propylthiouracil(PTU)are the two common antitithyroid drugs used currently. Generally, the ATD are safe and effective, though their clinical adverse reactions are also relatively common. The toxic effects include liver damage and leukocytopenia, antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated pulmonary small-vessel vasculitis, hypoglycemia, allergic reactions, muscle impairment, and so on. They are usually reversible and disappear spontaneously when the drug is discontinued. However, the serious rare side effects can also occur and there may have potentially deadly threatening effects which need to be cautious for the clinicians. MMI is usually preferred over PTU because it has significantly fewer side effects. And unlike the dose-dependent side effects of MMI, there has no significant correlation between adverse reaction and drug dosage in using PTU. Moreover, PTU has more severe hepatotoxity than MMI, even fatal liver impairment and liver failure. The risk of liver damage from PTU is an important concern, particularly in children. For this reason, MMI is the first choice for treating children with hyperthyroidism.
10.THE BLOCKING EFFECT OF GARLIC EXTRACT ON THE IN VITRO CHEMICAL FORMATION OF NITROSAMINES
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
In the present study, it has been found that garlic extract has the ability of blocking the formation of DMN, DEN and DBN in vitro under the conditions simulating those of gastric juice. There are very good dose-response relationships between the dosage of garlic extract and the blocking effect on the formation of DEN and DBN.The concentration of nitrite can be lowered with garlic extract. The dosage of garlic extract and the remains of nitrite show highly significant negative correlations. This may be partial mechanism of blocking effect of garlic extract on the formation of nitrosamines.
