Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(05):-
Objective To explore the damage effect of formaldehyde on DNA in cells of rats. Methods 24 SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups, formaldehyde (10, 20, 30, 40 mg/kg), distilled water and cyclophospho acetic acid (as the positive control) were given i.p. 24 hours after treatment. Comet Assay were used to detect DNA damage in the cells of the liver, kidney and lung. Results The DNA damage induced by formaldehyde was found in cells of the three organs and the significant dose-response relationship was demonstrated also. Conclusion Formaldehyde can induce DNA damage in cells of rats. The result of the present paper indicates once again that formaldehyde has genetic toxicity.
2.High-flow priapism: diagnosis,treatment and long-term follow-up
Chinese Journal of Urology 2001;0(11):-
Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of high-flow priapism. Methods Five cases of high-flow priapism (age range,18-54 years) were included.Their symptom was described as devoid of pain or tenderness, incompletely but constantly rigid of the penis which was able to increase rigidity with sexual stimulation.Blood taken from the corpora cavernosa showed an arterial blood sample in all the cases.Perineal color Doppler ultrasound findings included the presence of patent cavernous arteries and the focal area of high flow turbulence along the cavernous arteries in 4 cases.Contrast medium extravasating from a lacerated cavernous artery into surrounding erectile tissue lacunae was found when performing internal pudendal arteriography in all the cases.Initially, conservative therapy was attempted but was unsuccessful. Therefore superselective embolization of the proximal artery supplying arterial fistula was carried out in the 5 cases. Results After embolization the penile erection disappeared immediately. In 1 case, priapism recurred 12 h after the embolization and the second embolization was successful and the interval of complete detumescence was 5 to 42 d.The sexual function and erectile rigidity were normalized in 2 weeks to 4 months after embolization. The follow-up time was from 11 to 143 months. The sexual function was completely preserved in all the 5 cases with no recurrence of priapism. Conclusions Intracavernal blood gas analysis, color Doppler ultrasound and internal pudendal arteriography were effective means for the diagnosis of priapism. The effect of superselective embolization of the internal pudendal artery was satisfactory.

8.Reversal effect of delavirdine on multidrug resistance-associated protein 2-mediated multidrug resistance
Clinical Medicine of China 2009;25(6):618-622
Objective To study the effect and the possible mechanism of delavirdine on muhidrng resist-ance-aasociated protein 2(MRAP2)-mediated multidrug resistance in LLC/cMOAT cells. Methods MTT assay was used to determine the effects of delavirdine on proliferation of LLC/CMV and LLC/cMOAT cells. The inhibitory effects of vincristine (VCR),cisplatin (DDP),adriamycin (ADM) and etoposide (VP-16) used alone or in combi-nation with delavirdine on the proliferation of LLC/CMV and LLC/cMOAT cells were evaluated by MTT assay. The cell cycle distribution, the apoptosis rate of the cells treated with different concentration of delavirdine and the intra-cellular concentration of ADM were determined by flow cytometry (FCM). Results Delavirdine at the concentration of 4 μmol/L and below showed no significant cytotoxicity to LLC/CMV and LLC/cMOAT cells. The resistance of LLC/cMOAT cells to VCB, VP-16, ADM and DDP were 9.58,1.11,2.98 and 3.96 folds of that of LLC/CMV cells. When 2 μmol/L delavirdine was added, the resistance was 5.21 and 2.55 folds respectively;when 4 μmol/L dela-virdine was edded, the resistance was 7.56 and 3.03 ,while 2,4 μmol/L delavirdine made no significant changes to the chemosensitivity of LLC/CMV cells to VCR and DDP(P>0.05). Cellular cycle analysis demonstrated that 0,6, 12,24 hours after co-cultured with delavirdine the amount of cells at G1 phase increased from(38.92±0.15)% to (56.87±2.23)%,(65.36±2.76)% and (74.77±5.06)%. The cell apoptosis rate increased from 1.77% to 17.45% and 28.52% when treated with delavirdine at 2,4 μmol/L and VCR for 24 h. When treated with 2,4 μmol/L delavirdine, ADM accumulation in LLC/cMOAT cells was enhanced significantly(P<0.05). Conclusion DLV can partially reverse the multidrng resistance of LLC/cMOAT cells, and the reverse effect correlates to the concentration. The possible mechanism may involve the growth arrest at G1, increasing of intracellular drug concen-tration and promoting apoptosis.

BACKGROUND: Traditionally, bee venom can treat rheumatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and so on, but it has strong side effects. So it has been hoped for a long time that the effective angle component could be screened from bee venom, which can be used for the treatment of arthritis perfectly than bee venom.OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether bioactive peptide from bee venom could inhibit infection of arthritis by regulating immunological function so as to probe into a new treatment for RADESIGN: Completely randomized controlled experimental trial based on experimental animalsMETHODS: A municipal key laboratory of animal biology.MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out in the Chongqing Key Laboratory of animal biology from January 2001 to May 2002. Totally 80 rats of clean grade aged 2 to 3 months old with the body mass of 180 to 200 g were provided by Animal Experiment Center of Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA. The experimental animal certification number was SYXK1 (army) 2002 -007. The animals were divided into 3 groups: normal control group( 10 cases), arthritis group( 10 cases), bioactive peptide group(30 cases).METHODS: Adjuvant-induced arthritis animal models were used and bioactive peptide were given to the animals by muscle injection to observe the knuckle volume and knuckle index changes.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The effect of bioactive peptide from bee venom on the change of knuckle volume and knuckle index in adjuvant-induced arthritis ratsRESULTS: Ten days after injection of 0. 15 mg for each rat, the volume of the paw was (4.72 ±0. 58) mL and the knuckle index was (4.47 ±0.46) mL,which there was significant difference compared with the control group (P< 0. 05).CONCLUSION: P-peptide possibly has certain inhibitory effect on the development of the adjuvant-induced arthritis in Wistar rat, and will possibly be a potential therapeutic drug.
10.The clinical features and quality of life study of juvenile idiopathic arthritis
International Journal of Pediatrics 2010;37(3):228-231
Objective To explore the clinical features and long-term prognosis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)in children, as well as particular quality of life associated with the clinical features and therapeutic options. Methods Seventy patients from August 1997 to August 2007 were retrospectively reviewed and survey was conducted using a questionnaire indicating quality of life(CHAQ questionnaires and CHQ questionnaire, adjusted appropriately) either by phone, letter or out-patient follow-up approach. The manner of correlation and logistic regression was used to analyze quality of life associated with the clinical features and therapeutic options. Results (l)The majority (74.3%) of patients were diagnosed as systemic onset JIA. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient of questionnaire is 0.9599, with a higher inernal consistency reliability. The scales validity also had the higher construction. Sixty nine cases with 76.8 percent of the score showed good quality of life. Quality of life in children less than 5 years old was significantly different from those more than 5-year old( P < 0.05). The rank sum test of single-use NSAIDs group and NSAIDs adding other medicine group suggested that the two groups had differences in quality of life( P = 0.026) .The correlation coefficient between the variables of time from onset to formal treatment and quality of life scores was 0.329( P < 0.05), and "walking"as the dependent variable for the regression analysis showed regression coefficient was 0.15( P = 0.016). The variable grip had the significant relationship with the "disease onset to regular treatment, the initial number of joint involvement" respectively. Conclusion Systemic oneset JIA is the most common type of JIA. Most of JIA patients have a good prognosis. The major factors which may cause the decline in the quality of life are age, duration without therapy after the disease onset, and the compliance to medication. To achieve a better prognosis, more aggressive therapy may be needed and individulized.
