1.Research progress in hereditary multiple exostoses
Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2016;34(3):232-236
Hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) is an autosomal dominant genetic disease characterized by multiple benign cartilage-capped tumors primarily at the juxta-epiphyseal region of the long bone or on the lfat bones. Because the tumor can interfere with normal epiphysis, it causes bone deformities. The clinical features include short stature, the mechanical axis deviation, and function impairment. Recent studies showed that EXT gene mutation was associated with HEM. The EXT gene was involved in the biosynthesis of heparin sulfate. The gene mutations resulted in abnormal chondrocyte differentiation. This paper reviews the research progress in clinical manifestation, pathogenesis, biochemistry, the genotype-phenotype correlations, and treatment in HME.

Objective To evaluate the short-term efficacy of the use of Y-shaped mesh in the treatment of anterior vaginal wall cystocele and stress urinary incontinence. Methods A total of 34 women diagnosed as having anterior vaginal wall cystocele complicated with stress urinary incontinence underwent intravaginal slingplasty using a Y-shaped mesh from April 2003 to May 2006. Evaluations on symptom improvement and postoperative recurrence rate were made. Results All the patients could spontaneously void urine after catheter removal at 24 hours after operation, with the residual urine less than 100 ml. Follow-up checkups for 3~37 months (mean, 26 months) found no urinary retention, urinary tract infection, bladder dysfunction, or recurrence. Conclusions Use of Y-shaped mesh in the treatment of both anterior vaginal wall cystocele and strees urinary incontinence is feasible.

Objective:To explore the effect of management mode of correspondence of potencyscale on impro-ving the nurses′job satisfaction and patient satisfaction in the department of neurology and analyze the medical eth-ics. Methods:We selected 37 nurses in the department of neurology. From July 2013 to March 2014, they were provided with the traditional management mode, whereas from March 2014 to June 2015 with management mode of correspondence of potencyscale. The questionnaire survey was conducted to measure the job satisfaction of nurses and the satisfaction degree of patients. Results:After the implementation of management mode of correspondence of potencyscale, the research indexes were significantly higher than before. Conclusion:The management mode of correspondence of potencyscale can improve the nursing staff′s work enthusiasm, patient satisfaction, and the quali-ty of care. Meanwhile, it is the specific practice of nursing ethics.

Purpose To exp1ore the expression and c1inica1 significance of epiderma1 growth factor receptor( EGFR)and human epi-derma1 receptor-2(HER-2)in co1orecta1 carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry(IHC)PV-9000 was used to detect the expres-sion of EGFR and HER-2 in 78 cases of co1orecta1 carcinoma. Si1ver in situ hybridization( SISH)was used to detect HER-2 amp1ifica-tion in co1orecta1 carcinoma. Results The positive rates of EGFR in 78 co1orecta1 carcinomas were 69. 23%( 54/78 ). The differ-ences of the expression of EGFR between different depth of invasion group and 1ymph node metastasis group were statistica11y signifi-cant. The differences of the expression of EGFR between different aging group, gender group, tumor size, different histo1ogica1 grading group and Dukes stage were insignificant. The positive rates of HER-2 in 78 cases of co1orecta1 carcinoma were 25. 64%(20/78). The differences of the expression of HER-2 between different depth of invasion group and 1ymph node metastasis group were statistica11y sig-nificant. The differences of the expression of HER-2 between different aging group, gender group, tumor size,histo1ogica1 grading group and Dukes stage were insignificant. The expression of EGFR and HER-2 was positive1y corre1ated. Among the 20 cases of HER-2 protein overexpression,10 cases showed HER-2 gene amp1ification,15 cases showed HER-2 protein overexpression(~)by IHC and 10 cases showed HER-2 gene amp1ification by SISH. The rate of HER-2 gene amp1ification was 66. 67%. 5 cases with 1ow HER-2 protein overexpression( +)and no case showed HER-2 gene amp1ification. Conclusions EGFR and HER-2 are high1y ex-pressed in co1orecta1 carcinoma. EGFR and HER-2 expression is connected to invasion and metastasis process of co1orecta1 carcinoma. The both may be synergy. The corre1ation between HER-2 protein overexpression(~)and HER-2 gene amp1ification is statisti-ca11y significant. Therefore, immunohistochemistry can be regarded as an initia1 screening method for HER-2 gene amp1ification,and then SISH testing shou1d be done as we11 to confirm the resu1t. It is usefu1 for mo1ecu1ar target therapy to detect HER-2 status in co1or-ecta1 carcinoma.

Journal of International Oncology 2011;38(10):725-728
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) not only exhibit a marked tropism for tumors, but also exert antitumorigenic activity or as an emerging vectors to express foreign genes continuously and efficiently within the tumor microenvironment, suppress tumor's growth and metastasis.Conversely,MSCs can accelerate tumor development through promoting tumor stroma remodeling and tumor vascular formation, inhibiting tumor local immune and changing tumor phenotype. The reason for this discrepancy may be attributable to different sources of MSCs,the heterogeneity of MSCs,differences in tumor microenviroment,or another factor that is not yet appreciated.

Objective To study the antimalarial activity of naphthoquine phosphate combined with artemisinine against Plasmodium knowlesi in rhesus monkey. Methods Monkeys were randomly divided into 9 groups(3/group).The monkeys in groups A and B were treated i.g.once daily for 3 days with 6 or 10 mg/kg of naphthoquine phosphate respectively. Those in groups C and D were treated i.g.twice for the 1st day and once for the 2nd and 3rd day with 31.6 or 100 mg/kg of artemisinine respectively. In groups E, F and G, they were treated i.g.only once with the combination of naphthoquine phosphate 10 mg/kg and artemisinine 10, 20 or 25 mg/kg respectively.Groups H and I served as controls which were treated i.g.only once with 10 mg/kg of naphthoquine phosphate and 30 mg/kg of artemisinine respectively.Parasitemia was examined beginning 24 h after drug administration. The observation lasted 105 days when no more parasite was found. Results At 24 h after drug administration, the parasite reduction rate in all groups was higher than 90%.The parasite clearance time for groups E, F and G was(56.0?16.0),(53.3?4.6), and(56.0?8.0) h respectively, more rapid than that of Group H(69.3?4.6) h.There were 1, 3, 3, 2, 2, and 3 monkeys in groups A, B, D, E, F, and G respectively which were cured. No monkeys were cured in groups C, H and I.Conclusion The combination of naphthoquine phosphate and artemisinine is superior to the single component and the optimum proportion in the combination is 1:2.5 in treating P.knowlesi infection in monkeys.

Objective:Effects of oxymatrine on the sodium current were studied .Methods:The whole cell voltage clamp technique was used in isolated ventricular cells of guinea-pig.Results:Oxymatrine (0.1,0.3 and 1 mmol/L) showed inhibition to the sodium current in dose-dependence.Conclusion:These results indicate that inhibition of oxymatrine to the sodium current may be one of mechanisms of its antiarrhythmic action.
