The literature review about bladder management method given to maintain and improve health of neurogenic bladder patients was done. Because the study of neurogeinc bladder patients in nursing field is not enough, I tried to find report the study tendency through literature review. 1. There are five types of neurogenic bladder such as uninhibited neurgenic bladder, reflex neurogenic bladder, automonous neurogenic bladder, sensory paralytic neurogenic bladder, and motor paralytic neurogenic bladder. 2. The accurate assessment of neurogenic bladder is done mainly through urodynamics and especially cystometrogram and urethrogram are used. 3. As the study of therapeutic management, the effect of Desmopressin, bladder autoaugmentation, incision of external urethral sphincter muscle, subarachnoid block and pudendal never block using phenol was studied. 4. For the study of general management, the effect of bladder training program, intermittent catheterization and infection control has been studied but there has not been any obvious study in nursing field. Reviewed the study condition, it is necessary to develop bladder training program in order to increase life quality of neurogenic bladder patients.

PURPOSE: Mortality Provability Model (MPM) II is a model for predicting mortality probability of patients admitted to ICU. This study was done to test the validity of MPM II for critically ill neurological patients and to determine applicability of MPM II in predicting mortality of neurological ICU patients. METHODS: Data were collected from medical records of 187 neurological patients over 18 yr of age who were admitted to the ICU of C University Hospital during the period from January 2008 to May 2009. Collected data were analyzed through chi2 test, t-test, Mann-Whiteny test, goodness of fit test, and ROC curve. RESULTS: As to mortality according to patients' general and clinically related characteristics, mortality was statistically significantly different for ICU stay, hospital stay, APACHE III score, APACHE predicted death rate, GCS, endotracheal intubation, and central venous catheter. Results of Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test were MPM II0 (chi2=0.02, p=.989), MPM II24 (chi2=0.99 p=.805), MPM II48 (chi2=0.91, p=.822), and MPM II72 (chi2=1.57, p=.457), and results of the discrimination test using the ROC curve were MPM II0, .726 (p<.001), MPM II24, .764 (p<.001), MPM II48, .762 (p<.001), and MPM II72, .809 (p<.001). CONCLUSION: MPM II was found to be a valid mortality prediction model for neurological ICU patients.

PURPOSE: This study was designed to identify the impact of uncertainty degree and uncertainty appraisal on cancer patients resilience. METHODS: A sample of 181 patients with cancer was recruited from a hospital in Incheon. Data were collected from May 20 to August 25, 2011. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. RESULTS: The resilience for cancer patients showed a significant relationship with uncertainty degree and uncertainty appraisal. The significant factors influencing resilience were uncertainty degree and uncertainty appraisal, they explained 26.5% of the variance. CONCLUSION: Patients with cancer were adversely affected by uncertaint which led to a negative effect on resilience. The result suggests that intervention programs to reduce the level of uncertainty among patients could improve the resilience of cancer patients.

The study was done by applying a phenomenological study, which is qualitative research methods, in order to understand the meaning of the lived experiences, to confirm and describe the meaning structure, and to prepare nursing interventive strategies centering around the meanings of the inpatients' families in the intensive care units. In the study, the family members were the main important nursing providers for in the inpatients' who were admitted in the neuro-surgical intensive care unit in K-university hospital and who agreed to participate in the study after being given on explanation about the purpose of the study. The data were collected from the seven participants who had feelings of trust and intimacy favorable toward the researcher as they were families of patients who had been cared for by the researcher in the ICU where the researcher has been assigned. The data were collected from April to October, 1999. The participants described their experiences as candidly as possible. The researcher described closely the lived experiences with their own words and the observations of the researcher. A tape recorder was used with the consent of the participants to prevent nursing information and communication. The analysis of the data was made through the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi; as an unit of description, which include the participants'expressions and the researcher's observations, the analysis was used based on the data described from the expressions of the participants and the details of observations of the researcher. The conclusions of the study were as follows: The meanings of the lived experience of the inpatients'families in the ICU was confirmed by indepth interviews and observations including these of the participatants: 1. Psychological impact: confusion, impatience, surprise, insensibility; 2. Physical suffering: fatigue, discomfort, indigestion; 3. Psychological suffering: heartbreaking emotion, anxiety, annoyance, fear, compassion, grief; 4. Economical suffering: economical difficulties; 5. Psychological disagreement: escape from reality, personnel avoidance, grudge, powerlessness, carefulness, transposition of life-tract, abandonment, role-crisis, hope, lack of understanding, regret, feeling of ambivalence(progressive process, medical personnel interest); 6. Psychological dependency; self-reliance groupsupport, family support, religious support; 7. Psychological acceptance; acquaintance, gratitude, reassurance; The study will offer better understanding of experiences therefore, based on the experiences confirmed by the study, it may facilitate more appropriate nursing interventive strategies for health maintenance and to prevent occurrence of possible problems with the inpatients'families in the ICUs.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is well known disease which induces cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and metabolic sequelae. Positive airway pressure (PAP) is considered as standard and primary therapy of choice in OSA. However, compliance continues to be a problem for many patients despite advances in PAP for obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep apnea surgery is a viable option for patients who are intolerant of positive pressure therapy and should be one column in treatment of this disease. This review will present the current state in sleep apnea surgery, including concept of surgery, formulation of surgical planning through a lot of factors which should be considered, as well as introduction of various surgical techniques which have been used world widely, and perioperative cares.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate radiographic results of anterior fusion methods in two-level cervical disc disease : tricortical autograft and plate fixation (ACDF-AP), cage and plate fixation (ACDF-CP), stand-alone cage (ACDF-CA), and corpectomy and plate fixation (ACCF). METHODS: The numbers of patients were 70 with a minimum 6 month follow-up (ACDF-AP : 12, ACDF-CP : 27, ACDF-CA : 15, and ACCF : 16). Dynamic simple X-ray and computed tomography were evaluated preoperatively, postoperatively, 6 month, and at the final follow-up. The fusion and subsidence rates at the final were determined, and global cervical lordosis (GCL), cervical range of motion, fused segment angle (FSA), and fused segment height (FSH) were analyzed. RESULTS: Nonunion was observed in 4 (25%) patients with ACDF-CA, 1 (8%) patient with ACDF-AP, 1 (4%) patient with ACDF-CP. The number of loss of FSH (%) more than 3 mm were 2 patients (16%) in ACDF-AP, 3 patients (11%) in ACDF-CP, 5 patients (33%) in ACDF-CA, and 3 patients (20%) in ACCF. The GCL was decreased with ACDF-CA and increased with others. The FSA was increased with ACDF-AP, ACDF-CP, and ACCF, but ACDF-CA was decreased. At the final follow-up, the FSH was slightly decreased in ACDF-CP, ACDF-AP, and ACCF, but ACDF-CA was more decreased. Graft related complication were minimal. Screw loosening, plate fracture, cage subsidence and migration were not identified. CONCLUSION: ACDF-CP demonstrated a higher fusion rate and less minimal FSH loss than the other fusions in two-level cervical disc disease. The ACDF-AP and ACCF methods had a better outcome than the ACDF-CA with respect to GCL, FSA, and FSH.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of focal verteporfin photodynamic therapy (PDT) in patients diagnosed with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC).METHODS: This study enrolled 52 eyes of 52 patients with chronic CSC who had received verteporfin PDT. The laser spot size of 26 eyes covering only the localized hyperfluorescent area in indocyanine green angiography was classified as focal PDT. The PDT spot size of the other 26 eyes covered the total area of retinal pigment epithelial detachment including the leaking point and was defined as conventional PDT. The central subfield thickness and subfoveal choroidal thickness were measured using Heidelberg Spectralis optical coherence tomography before PDT and at months 1, 3, 6, and 12 after PDT.RESULTS: The mean spot size of the PDT was 1,995 µm in the focal group and 2,995 µm in the conventional group. Central subfield thickness steadily decreased in both groups. The mean baseline subfoveal choroidal thickness for the two groups was 334.95 and 348.35 µm, respectively, with no significant difference (p = 0.602). Subfoveal choroidal thickness decreased significantly to 304.20 µm at 1 month, 284.85 µm at 3 months, 271.60 µm at 6 months, and 265.95 µm at 12 months in the focal group (p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p < 0.001, and p < 0.001, respectively, compared with baseline). In the conventional group, subfoveal choroidal thickness decreased significantly to 318.75, 300, 284, and 272 µm at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months, respectively (p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p < 0.001 and p < 0.001 compared with baseline). There were no significant differences between the two groups in subfoveal choroidal thickness based on PDT spot size at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months (p = 0.633, p = 0.625, p = 0.676, and p =0.755, respectively).CONCLUSIONS: Focal verteporfin PDT for CSC significantly decreased the subretinal fluid and sufoveal choroidal thickness to the same extent as conventional PDT.

This study was to investigate the effects of the body fat % on life styles and self-recognition of health conditions in hotel culinary college students. This survey was conducted using the questionnaires for 144 students (110 males, 34 female) in Hongseung-located college. More exercise time and less frequency of alcoholic beverage they intake, lowered their body fat %. Males did stronger exercise and had lower body fat % than females. The stronger exercise they did, the lower body fat % they had, and were more satisfied with their present weight. Since they had more alcoholic beverage, they smoked more. Less smoking, more abdominal obesity they were. The less satisfaction with their body weights, the higher body fat % they had. The obese less were content with their weights. More recognition of obese shape, higher body fat % they had and abdominal obesity they were. Female had higher body fat % and were more abdominal obesity, did weak action, less smoke and weak exercise than male. Higher body fat % they had, more abdominal obesity they were. The more part time jobs they had, they did not smoke or were not satisfied with their body weights. Female students in culinary arts division had higher body fat % and were dissatisfied with their body weights and did less exercise or subnormal exercises.
