3.Localization and Extraction Technique of Magnetic Intraocular Foreign Body: I. Convenient and Accurate Technique of Localization.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1979;20(3):313-316
On supine position the patient fixed at a point on the celling with the intact eye. Under the fluoroscope the tip of lacrimal probe was brought on the sclera, where the foreign body cast its shadow. Two exposures were taken at right angle. one frontally and the other laterally. The location of the foreign body was calculated with reference to the lacrimal probe. If a fluoroscope was not availabe, a lacrimal probe was brought to the estimated point on the sclera and two exposures were taken as above. If there was an error more than 3 mm between the indicator and the foreign body, the second localization was almost indispensable for the successful surgery. Bone free technique of Vogt was applied for very small foreign body in the anterior vitreous cavity. This accurate and convenient technique may be applied in every clinics for preparing the foreign body extraction, because it requires no special apparatus other than a standard X-ray machine and a lacrimal probe.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2016;46(3):375-389
PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to classify nursing management competencies and develop behavioral indicators for nurse managers in hospitals. Also, levels of importance and performance based on developed criteria were to be identified and compared. METHODS: Using expert survey we classified nursing management competencies and behavioral indicators with data from 34 nurse managers and professors. Subsequently, data from a survey of 216 nurse managers in 7 cities was used to analyze the importance-performance comparison of the classified nursing management competencies and behavioral indicators. RESULTS: Forty-two nursing management competencies were identified together with 181 behavioral indicators. The mean score for importance of nursing management competency was higher than the mean score for performance. According to the importance-performance analysis, 5 of the 42 nursing management competencies require further development: vision-building, analysis, change management, human resource development, and self-management competency. CONCLUSION: The classification of nursing management competencies and behavioral indicators for nurse managers in hospitals provides basic data for the development and evaluation of programs designed to increase the competency of nurse managers in hospitals

The aseptic loosening has emerged as one of the most common and serious long term complications, which requires the revision of total hip replacement arthroplasty. We studied the radiologic finding of the aseptic loosening in 79 patients of uncemented total hip replacement arthroplasty which had been performed in our hospital from March 1991 to December 1994. We evaluated the white reaction lines, osteolysis state, translation and migration in postoperative and last follow-up radiographies. The white reactive lines around the femoral stem and the acetabular cup were most frequent in zone IV and zone II. But it was not progressive and need more long term follow-up evaluations to confirm whether these lines are related to loosening or not. In assessment for stable state, the more stable at initial fixations, the better state of long term stability. Some patients have pain without loosening but all patients with loosening have pain. Press fit is the most important factor of the late stability. The osteolysis is not directly proportional to femoral loosening in this study, but it might be due to short follow up time.

The incidence of herniated lumbar disc under the age of 19 years is increasing due to increased sports activity of teenager and development of diagnostic methods. 33 cases of herniated lumbar disc of the teenager was analyzed at Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dong-A College of Medicine from March 1990 to May 1994. The results were obtained as follows: 1) Among 413 patients, 33 patients(7.9%) were teenagers and the sex ratio was 2.3:1 in male to female. 2) Average intervals between the onset of clinical symptoms and the admission were 13.2 months. 3) 20 cases(60.6%) had a definite trauma history, and among these cases, 14 cases(70.0%) were associated with sports activity. 4) The most common level of herniation was L4-5 in 29 cases(64.4%), straight leg raising test was positive in 32 cases(97.0%), sensory change in 13 cases(39.4%), motor weakness in 10 cases(30.3%). 5) Among positive MRI findings(32 cases), 17 cases(53.1%) were the protruded type. 6) Among 23 operative cases, 21 cases had excellent or good results.

8.The Changes of ERG b-wave and Oscillatory Potentials in White Rats according to Dark Adaptation and Stimulus Light Intensity.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1995;36(2):247-252
Authors studied changes of ERG b-wave and oscillatory potentials(OPs) in white rats according to dark adaptation and stimulus light intensity for experimental setting. For this purpose we performed ERG tests on 10 normal white rats(20 eyes) during progressive dark adaptation. ERG b-wave and OPs values increased significantly during the first 30 minutes and then made plateau pattern. Based on this result we concluded that 30 minutes dark adaptation was sufficient for getting stable rat ERGs. After 30 minutes of dark adaptation, ERG b-wave and OPs were measured in response to 0.3J(2.25 cd.s/m2), 0.6J(6.5 cd.s/m2) , 2J(27.5 cd.s/m2) light intensity. In ERG b-wave there was no significant differene between 0.3J and 2J. In OPs between 0.3J and 0.6J, the sum of amplitude was significantly increased(p<0.01), and between 0.6J and 2J this value was insignificantly increased(p>0.05). We concluded that 0.3J(2.25 cd.s/m2) was sufficient in ERG testing. And in OPs at least 0.6J(6.5 cd.s/m2) was needed for proper stimulation.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1993;31(5):800-805
Benign symmetric lipomat, osis is a rare disease of undetermined cause characterized by symmetric deposits of adipose tissue o:n the neck, upper trunk and abdomen. We report three cases of kienign symmetric lipomatosis, one of which is associated with alcoholic liver disease and the patient complained of a diffieulties in neck motion, All of them are about sixty year old men with history of frequent alcohol consumption. In histopathologic findings, the reticular dermis was completcly replaced by mature fat cells and there was a slight increase in vascular and fibrous elements.

10.A Case of Retinal Detachment with Equatorial Scleral Staphyloma.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1992;33(8):808-811
While retinal detachment is not rarely associated with posterior staphyloma and macular hole, very few cases of retinal detachment with equatorial scleral staphyloma are reported until recentily. In the course of retinal detachment surgery, an equatorial staphyloma is found unexpectedly and makes surgical treatment difficult. We experienced a 70 year old woman who had retinal detachment due to a hole at the 1 o'clock equator. During the retinal detachment surgery, a large equatorial staphyloma was noted right over the retinal hole. Scleral surface buckling procedure and graft using the preserved human sclera were performed. After the follow up period of 6 months, retina was still reattached.
