Hemangiopericytoma is a rather uncommon neoplasm composed mainly of cells derived from the vascular pericytes of Zimmermann, which are normally found in close apposition to the endothelial cells of capillaries and postcapillary venules. Authors studied a case in which primary hemangiopericytoma located in the left orbit of a 54-year-old woman. Review of the literatures about incidence, clinical symptoms, histological features and biological behavior of the orbital hemangiopericytoma was presented.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical features and to assess the risk factors in the treatment of small-bowel obstructions. METHODS: This retrospective clinical report was based on the medical records of 67 patients who were treated between Jan. 1992 and Dec. 1999 and who had had a history of abdominal surgery due to cancer. RESULTS: The distribution of primary cancer was as follows: stomach cancer 36 (53.7%), colorectal cancer 25 (37.3%), uterine and ovarian cancer 4 (6.0%), and other cancers 2 (3.0%). The mean interval from the primary operation to the development of a small- bowel obstruction was 27 months. Conservative treatment produced a successful outcome in 36 patients (59.0%), but recurrences of obstruction were noted in 18 of those patients. There were 34 operations in 30 patients. The initial success rate of operative treatment was 80% (24/30), obstructions recurred in 6 patients. The causes of obstructions in the surgically treated patients were adhesion (53.3%) and recurrence of cancer (46.7%). The postoperative complication rate was 44.1%, and the mortality rate was 20.0%. The mean survival time of the patients with benign causes of obstruction was significantly longer than that of the patients with malignant causes of obstruction (46 months vs 11 months). CONCLUSION: In the treatment of such patients, conservative treatment should be considered first. However if conservative treatment fails, surgery should be done without hesitation, especially in patients with no definite evidence of recurrence.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to identify latent classes based on major modifiable risk factors for coronary artery disease. METHODS: This was a secondary analysis using data from the electronic medical records of 2,022 patients, who were newly diagnosed with coronary artery disease at a university medical center, from January 2010 to December 2015. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.0 for descriptive analysis and Mplus version 7.4 for latent class analysis. RESULTS: Four latent classes of risk factors for coronary artery disease were identified in the final model: ‘smoking-drinking’, ‘high-risk for dyslipidemia’, ‘high-risk for metabolic syndrome’, and ‘high-risk for diabetes and malnutrition’. The likelihood of these latent classes varied significantly based on socio-demographic characteristics, including age, gender, educational level, and occupation. CONCLUSION: The results showed significant heterogeneity in the pattern of risk factors for coronary artery disease. These findings provide helpful data to develop intervention strategies for the effective prevention of coronary artery disease. Specific characteristics depending on the subpopulation should be considered during the development of interventions.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a facial muscle exercise program including facial massage on the facial muscle function, subjective symptoms related to paralysis and depression in patients with facial palsy. METHODS: This study was a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design. Participants were 70 patients with facial palsy (experimental group 35, control group 35). For the experimental group, the facial muscular exercise program including facial massage was performed 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week for two weeks. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, χ²-test, Fisher's exact test and independent sample t-test with the SPSS 18.0 program. RESULTS: Facial muscular function of the experimental group improved significantly compared to the control group. There was no significant difference in symptoms related to paralysis between the experimental group and control group. The level of depression in the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group. CONCLUSION: Results suggest that a facial muscle exercise program including facial massage is an effective nursing intervention to improve facial muscle function and decrease depression in patients with facial palsy.

The term pseudolymphoma is not specific, and a variety of infl; m atory reactions may simulate clinically and histopat,hologically a cutaneous malignant lymphomas udolymphoma induced by drug therapies, especially anticonvulsants, have been reportecl. These pseidayrnphornas most commonly appear as single lesions. Characteristically, few localized lesions disappear after discontinuing therapy with the offending drug. Multiple and generalized tumors are very rate. We report a case of generalized cutaneous pseudolymphoma assocated with phenytoin therapy in a 52-year old male patient.
