Purpose: : Nursing students’ academic immersion in their major field is very important in their learning activities. It is necessary to understand the effect of empathy ability and social responsibility on major immersion. This study was conducted to understand the effect of empathy ability and social responsibility of nursing students on their major immersion. Methods: : This is a descriptive research study in which a survey of 238 nursing students was analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: : The results of this study were empathy and social responsibility (r=.472, p<.001), empathy and major Immersion (r=.289, p<.001), social responsibility, and major Immersion (r=.597, p<.001) was statistically positively correlated. The results of the factors affecting nursing students’ major immersion were academic performance (β=-.171, p<.001), internal factor in major selection (β=-.109, p=.030), major satisfaction (β=-.284, p<.001) and social responsibility (β=.452, p<.001) variables explained about 50.1% of the major immersion. Conclusion : Through the research results, it is meaningful that nursing students can increase their immersion in the whole body through improvement of departmental achievements, internal factors in major choice, major satisfaction, and social responsibility. Nevertheless, since this study is the result of a survey of nursing students in one area, there are limitations to the expansion of interpretation.

BACKGROUND: Single pass lead VDD pacing preserves atrioventricular synchrony with a single lead system which incorporates floating atrial electrodes. The objectives of this study were to measure whether different body postures and physical activities cause significant changes of the atrial electrogram amplitudes and to evaluate the effectiveness of its atrial sensing, ventricular sensing and pacing. METHOD: Prospective study was done in 7 patients with high degree AV block and normal sinus node function in whom a single lead VDD pacing system was implanted. The P wave amplitude was been measured in different condition during follow-up period. RESULTS: 1) During follow-up period, the P wave amplitude showed variation with changes in posture and respiration, but there was no consistent increase or decrease in amplitude. The lowest P wave amplitude was above the minimal atrial sensing value of 0.2 mV. 2) The percentage of atrial synchronous ventricular pacing recorded in Holter ECG and during Treadmill exercise test was more than 99%. 3) Atrial oversensing or VA cross sensing were not observed in any of the patients. CONCLUSIONS: Despite floating atrial electrode, the single pass lead VDD pacing maintains reliable atrial sensing and ventricular pacing in different body position and physical activity, so it may offer an excellent alternative in patients with high grade AV block and intact sinus node function.

RESULTS: The level of body image was positive, depression was mild, and sexual function was moderate. There were no significant correlation between depression and sexual function. The subjects who had more positive body image experienced higher sexual function and less depressed mood. CONCLUSION: These findings showed the need for a knowledge development program for nurses regarding women's sexual function. Also, nurses must do counseling with sexual partner's and consider patients' body image when counseling those who complain of sexual dysfunction

A 13-year-old boy developed fever and right leg pain, and multiple acupunctures were done on legs, then visited our ER for high fever, chill and painful swellings in both legs. Bone scan showed multiple hot spots on both distal femur, both proximal tibia, and left distal tibia. MRI revealed subperiosteal abscess in right proximal and left distal tibia and signal changes without abscess in other hot spot sites on bone scan. Surgical drainage of subperiosteal abscess and curettage were performed in the right proximal and the left distal tibia. Percutaneous drillings were done to other hot spot sites. All the lesions were cured after combined antibiotic chemotherapy. Multifocal osteomyelitis in a rapidly growing adolescent has been reported not rarely. It seemed that more attentions should be paid to the possibility of multifocal acute osteomyelitis in an adolescent

PURPOSE: By focusing on immigrant women's problems and considering human rights, resettlement plans and marital-life adaptation, health status is often overlooked. It was examined in this study. METHOD: The participants were 110 immigrant women who lived in Busan. Data were collected from September to November 2007 using a questionnaire. RESULTS: One of five of the women had been hospitalized for a delivery, about 25 % were pregnant, and most (80.9 %) have never had a pap-smear test. The average score for anxiety was 3.0 (+/-2.50) and for depression 2.9 (+/-2.71). Most were in the normal range for blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), blood sugar and urine test. There was a significant difference in level of anxiety according to education (F=3.42, p=.020) and in level of depression according to age (F=4.05, p=.020), number of children (t=-.444, p=.009), financial status (F=3.75, p=.027) and satisfaction with life (F=6.38, p=.002). There were significant differences in BMI according to age (F=7.73, p=.001), native nation (F=18.38, p=.000), period of stay in Korea (F=3.11,p=.049), education (F=3.82,p=.012), number of children (t=-4.26,p=.040). CONCLUSION: Although the health status of the immigrant women was good, procreative care protocols should be developed to support immigrant women who are pregnant.

Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is an acute fulminant opportunistic fungal infection usually seen in diabetic or immunocompromised patients. The fungi that cause mucormycosis inoculate the nasal mucosa and may spread to the paranasal sinuses, orbit, and brain. Our patient initially presented with mild ethmoid sinusitis. At that time, brain MRI and contrast-enhanced MR angiography were grossly normal. However, aggravation of sinusitis with extension to the right orbit and anterior cranial fossa rapidly developed within two months. Moreover, an occlusion of the right internal carotid artery was combined. We report a case of a pathologically-proven rhino-orbital-cerebral mucormycosis with serial follow-up imaging for over one year.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to describe the sexual behavior, health risk related to reproductive health, and characteristics of sexual experience among college students in Korea. METHODS: Six thousands college students were selected through proportional quota sampling based on region, college, and gender. Structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Descriptive statistics and chi-square test were used to describe the data. RESULTS: Thirty eight percent (N=2,285) of the participants reported sexual intercourse. The mean age of first time sexual intercourse was 19.3 years old. Respondents reported the following health risks such as smoking, drinking, not exercising, no regular meal patterns, chronic disease status, and weight loss over 10 kg in the past three months showed significant differences by sexual intercourse experience (p<.01). Among those who had sexual intercourse experiences, 7.1% of them reported having a history of STDs and 11.6% reported a pregnancy or pregnancy of one's partner. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study reflect the current trends of sex behaviors among college students and correlations between health risks related to reproductive health and sexual intercourse experiences. Developing reproductive health education programs based on the findings and providing the programs to college students through a school nurse is suggested.
