Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 2002;32(2):159-161
Arachnoid cyst of the velum interpositum is unusual and causes symptoms similar to those seen with a third ventricular mass. This report describes a case in which the arachnoid cyst occupied the cistern of the velum interpositum and was coincident with multiple cranial neuropathies. The patient was treated by endoscopic fenestration of the cyst. The surgery resulted in decreased in the size of the cyst but aggravation of cranial neuropathies. The patient underwent methylprednisolone pulse therapy and intravenous immunoglobulin administration under the impression of the multiple cranial neuropathies and recovered completely 3 months later. The authors conclude that combined neurological disease that needs medical treatment should be differentiated and priority of the treatment should be determined carefully if arachnoid cyst is associated with unrelated or ambiguous neurological symptoms and signs. Careful considerations of cause and effect may avoid an unnecessary surgical manipulation

Journal of the Korean Child Neurology Society 2001;9(1):152-158
We report a case of cutis verticis gyrata-mental deficiency syndrome associated with generalized epidermal nevus. The clinical features of the patient included severe mental retardation, drug resistant epilepsy, short stature, scaphocephaly and dysmorphic face with scanty scalp hair, hypertelorism, long palpebral fissure, low nasal bridge, hyperplasia of ala nasi, low-set ears with convoluted fold, and partial obstruction of the nasolacrimal ducts. Multiple convoluted folds and furrows on the scalp were extended to eyebrows and nose. Both lateral ventricle with periventricular leukomalacia were dilated markedly and the corpus callosum was hypoplastic on brain MRI. The nature of the yellowish brown colored elevated skin nevi on the whole body was consistent with systemic epidermal nevus by pathological study.

4.Deletion of the Long Arm of Chromosome 6 Associated with Arachnoid Cyst and Brain Atropy.

Journal of the Korean Child Neurology Society 1999;7(2):250-256
Deletions of 6q chromosome are rare. Although 60 cases of deletions of the long arm of chromosome 6 have been reported in the literature, there was no reported case in Korea. We report a 9 year old boy with a deletion 46,XY,del(6)(q16), who presented growth and developmental delay, brachycephaly, minor facial dysmorphism, low-set ear, short 5th finger with clinodactyly, abnormal palmar creases, cryptorchidism and small feet. Brain MRI showed arachnoid cyst on the temporal lobe with mass effect and dilatation of the lateral ventricle which are consistent with brain atropy. Clinical data were analyzed in comparison with patients reported in the literature.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2000;43(7):1243-1245
Although a lot of articles examining concomitant intrauterine and ectopic pregnancy have been presented, we have not found any reports on ectopic implantation of chorionic villi in the vagina with normal intrauterine pregnancy. We experienced a case of chorionic villi on the vaginal wall as a hemorrhagic mass during the second trimester of pregnancy. A pregnant woman (gestational age of 16 weeks and 1 day) visited our hospital due to vaginal bleeding. There was no abnormal finding except vaginal hemorrhagic mass, and the mass revealed a product of conception.

6.Notes on Species of the Laboulbeniales from Yunnan Province of China.
Mycobiology 2000;28(2):110-114
Six species of the genus Laboulbenia were collected from some regions of Yunnan Province, China, in July, 1994. They are as follows; Laboulbenia acupapi Spegazzini was collected on Abacetus submetallicus (Nietner) and Stenolophus iridicolor Redtenbacher. The host of this fungus has been only found on genus Acupalpus in the world so far, but it was newly found on genus Abacetus and Stenolophus. Laboulbenia anoplogenii Thaxter subsp. abaceti Santamaria was collected on Abacetus submetallicus (Nietner). Laboulbenia elaphri Spegazzini was collected on Nebria ochotica Sahlberg, but the host of this fungus has been only found on genus Elaphrus in the world so far. It was newly collected on genus Nebria. Laboulnebia flagellata Peyritsch was collected on Harpalus platynotus Bates and Platynus sculptipes (Bates). Laboulbenia polyphaga Thaxter was collected on Harpalus bungii Chaudoir. Laboulbenia vulgaris Peyritsch was collected on Bembidion misellum Harold and Bembidon scopulium (Kirby).
