Puromycin aminonucleoside (PAN) nephropathy was induced in a group of Sprague-Dawley rat by a single dose of intraperitoneal injection to study an ultrastructural alteration of glomerular anionic sites by stain with polyethyleneimine (PEI) as a cationic probe and to examine whether proliferation of podocytes occur by immunohistochemical stain for proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). The experimental rats developed proteinuria three days after PAN injection. Electron microscopic studies of glomeruli showed the loss of epithelial foot processes, formation of cytoplasmic vacuoles, microvillous formation and increased numbers of lyso- somes in the cytoplasm of podocytes. PEI method seems to selectively stain heparan sulfate proteogly-can in basement membrane and has been widely used to evaluate the changes of basement membrane in human disease as well as in experimental work. The anionic sites on the basement membrane with foot process fusion were mostly indistinguishable from those seen in control rats, but focal areas of loss or disarray of anionic sites were noted. The anionic sites were not seen on the basement membrane where the overlying epithelium was detached. It is strongly suggested that proteinuria in PAN nephrosis may be primarily due to a glomerular epithelial lesion, leading to focal disarray of anionic sites or focal defects in the epithelial covering of the basement membrane. The loss of anionic s'ites in the basement mernbrane may be resulted partially from the foot process fusion and mostly from the epithelial detachment. The increased numbers of PCNA positive cells after the injection of PAN is suggestive of possibility of podocytic proliferation or regeneration.

Chronic mucocutaneous randidiasis is a clinical syndrome characte ized by chronic and reccurent superficial candidal infection of the skin, mucous membranes, and nails. This syndrome is frequently associated with immune deficiency or endocrinopathy, especially hypopar; thyroidism. We report a case of chrcinic mucocutaneous candidiasis associated with hypoparathyroidism in a 8- year-old girl.

Annals of Dermatology 1995;7(1):29-33
BACKGROUND: Urticaria pigmentosa(UP) is primarily a disease of children. There have been no clinical studies of UP in Korea. OBJECTIVE: This study was performed to find the clinical characteristics of UP in Korean child-hood patients. METHOD: Twenty-nine cases of urticaria pigmentosa confirmed clinically and histopathologically were analyzed. RESULTS: The maculopapular type was the most common with the usual age of onset before the age of 6 months, and the lesions tended to be distributed in the central portion of the body. Darier sign was positive in 92% of the patients(24/26). No systemic involvements were detected in any of the patients with minimal associated symptoms. Seven patients of the maculopapular type and one patient of the multiple nodular type followed up for more than 2 years showed a tendency to improve or clear by the age of 6 years. CONCLUSION: Neonatal or infantile-onset patients of UP in Korean pediatric population were considered to have a benign clinical course and to require no aggressive therapy.

5.A Case of Craniofacial Dysostosis: Crouzon's Disease.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1976;17(4):567-571
A monstrous faced, 60 years old famale patient was first seen in our clinic on May 1, 1976, complaining of diffuse abdominal pain. Throughout physical examination and x-ray study revealed a craniofacial dysostosis, which is rare in this age group, and other lab. data seemed normal.

Korean Journal of Immunology 1999;21(1):85-92
Serum immunoglobulins from Israeli carp (I. carp) were purified using affinity chromatography. Fish were immunized with purified mouse IgG, and the specific fish antibodies purified from the immune serum on a mouse IgG-immobilized agarose gel. Rabbit anti-carp Ig (Raclg) antibodies were produced following hyperimmunization with mlgG specific I. Carp Ab. SDS-PAGE analysis under reducing condition showed that I. carp Ig (clg) were composed of two u-like heavy chains with about 82 and 50 kD, respectively and one light chain with about 25 kD. On immunoblotting analysis, however, Raclg failed to react with light chain. When both protein A and protein G purified normal clg were compared with mlgG specific clg, no significant structural differences among them were observed. To investigate if there is any homology between other fish Ig molecules, cross-reactivity of Raclg against Ig molecules from 6 different fish sera and mouse control serum was checked on immunoblotting analysis. As a result, Raclg responded to only carp and tilapia Ig molecules, indicating that both tilapia and carp are very closely associated, especially, in the genetic basis of immunoglobulin structure. In flow cytometry study, Raclg appeared to recognize 45.8% of carp Ig+, 14.5% of catfish Ig+ and <5% of tilapia Ig+ cells. The result suggest the heterogeniety between receptor immunoglobulins on B-like lymphocytes and soluble immunoglobulins in serum. It is crucial to obtain pure fish immunoglobulins to produce reagent antibodies as tools for the study of their specific immune response.

8.Distribution of the Bovine Lens Antigen in the Ocular Tissues.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1976;17(1):53-58
Distribution of the antigens of soluble lens protein in the bovine ocular tissues was studied by Ouchterlony's double agar diffusion technique. Guinea pig anti-bovine-lens-serum was prepared by 4 weekly injections of the soluble protein of the bovine lens with complete Freund adjuvant. Three precipitation lines were observed between lens antigen and antiserum after 36 hours diffusion, and two precipitation lines on iris antigen and two precipitation lines on antigen mixture of the pigment epithelium and the choroid were observed after 36 hours diffusion. No precipitation line was observed on cornea antigen, vitreous antigen and retina antigen.
