The tuberculosis of the stomach is very rare disease and its association with gastric carcinoma is more so. The diagnosis of gastric tuberculosis is usually made on the histological basis not clinical findings. This case of gastric tuberculosis was found incidentally after the subtotal gastrectomy performed under the impression of stomach cancer. There was an ill-defined ulcerative lesion at the lesser curvature. Microscopically, poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma extended to the serosa and typical tuberculous granulomas were found in the lesion of stomach and regional lymph nodes. Acid-fast bacilli were demonstrated by Ziehl-Neelsen stain in the granuloms of the regional lymph nodes, and a case of gastric carcinoma is presented here and briefly reviewed with the literature.

PURPOSE: Although alpha-fetoprotein is one of the most commonly used tumor markers in Korea, most of the radioimmunoassay kits for alpha-fetoprotein have been imported from foreign countries. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of a recently developed domestic immunoradiometric kit for alpha- fetoprotein (Riakey AFP IRMA CTR, Sin-Jin Medics, Seoul, Korea). MATERALS AND METHODS: We evaluated intra- and inter-assay precision, recovery rate, parallelism, and sensitivity of serum alpha-fetoprotein measurement using Riakey AFP IRMA CTR kit. The values of alpha-fetoprotein measured by Riakey AFP IRMA CTR kit were compared with those measured by two foreign commercial kits (alpha-fetoproteina of Radim and alpha-feto.riabead of Abbott). RESULTS: Intra-assay coefficients of variation on three different levels were 5.3% for 18.9 ng/ml, 3.4% for 133 ng/ml and 1.6% for 330 ng/ml. Inter-assay coefficients of variation were 9.7% for 20.9 ng/ml, 3.2% for 137 ng/ml and 4.1% for 330 ng/ml respectively. Recovery rate tests on all three different levels showed within 100+/-10%. Parallelism was also good and the sensitivity was 0.63 ng/ml. There was strong correlation between the measurement of alpha-fetoprotein by Riakey AFP IRMA CTR and that by two foreign commercial kits(r=0.98). CONCLUSION: The first Korean domestic immunoradiometric kit for alpha-fetoprotein, Riakey AFP IRMA CTR, performed well for clinical use.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of optimism on the relationship between grit and learning flow in nursing college students. Methods: Structured self-reported questionnaires were used to measure grit, optimism and learning flow. The study was conducted on 200 nursing students in P, U and J cities between September 1 and September 20, 2020. The data were analyzed using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple linear regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0. Results: Significant relationships were found between learning flow and grit (r=.60, p<.001), between learning flow and optimism (r=.42, p<.001), and between grit and optimism (r=.42, p<.001). Additionally, optimism had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between grit and learning flow (Z=3.11, p<.001). Conclusion These results indicate that interventions to increase the level of grit along with optimism is necessary in order to increase the level of nursing college students’ learning flow.

PURPOSE: This study was done to explore the correlation among mobile phone overuse, mental health and school adaptation, and to identify factors related mobile phone overuse. METHODS: A questionnaire was filled out by 943 elementary school students from 3rd to 6th grade in the cities of Busan and Ulsan. Frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 12.0 program were used to analyze the collected data. RESULTS: Mobile phone overuse in the elementary school students was positively correlated with mental health, and negatively correlated with school adaptation. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed the factors as school grade, gender, depression, anxiety, learning adaptation, adaptation to friends and adaptation rules significantly accounted for 23% of the variance for mobile phone overuse. The most significant factor influencing overuse of mobile phone was school grade. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that early screening and intervention programs for students with low mental health and low school adjustment would be helpful in preventing future mobile phone overuse.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of service orientation on the organizational commitment and management performance of public health center workers. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey design was used. A convenience sample of 280 workers was recruited from six public health centers in J province, South Korea. Data were collected by self-report questionnaires, including general characteristics, service orientation, organizational commitment, and management performance. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical regression using the SPSS 22.0 program. RESULTS: The service orientations explained 34.1%of the variance in organizational commitment and explained 31.4% of the variance in management performance. The service orientation was a significant predictor of organizational commitment and management performance. CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that better strategies for service orientations will be helpful to enhance organizational commitment and management performance in the public health center.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of labor intensity and fatigue on the sleep quality of clinical nurses and provide basic data for preparation of nursing interventions to improve sleep quality. METHODS: Data were collected from 198 nurses in 2 general hospitals with more than 500 beds in D-city. Data analysis was performed using stepwise regression with the SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. RESULTS: The significant factors influencing sleep quality of the clinical nurses were fatigue, absolute labor intensity, and shift type. Explanatory power was 66% in the regression model. CONCLUSION: Findings indicate that nurses with higher level of fatigue, and greater absolute labor intensity which implies extended work hours, had lower sleep quality for all the three shifts. To improve the sleep quality of clinical nurses, an intervention program for fatigue management is needed. In addition, hospitals should establish an internal legal standard to compensate overtime work with breaks. At the same time, as shift work is inevitable for nurses, it is necessary to develop a work system that can minimize the disturbance of daily rhythms.
