Korean Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine 2003;15(1):26-36
OBJECTIVES: To investigate the effects of recognition on the restructuring of the psychosocial well-being of the workers. METHODS: 302 employees were recruited by a stratified random sampling method, from a company located in Seoul, which undergoing an administrative evaluation, in 2001. Subjects were asked to fill out questionnaire sheet on their recognition of the restructuring, and were questions on their psychosocial well-being. A one-way ANOVA and a multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: For the psychological well-being, the levels of social performance and self-confidence were significantly different relation to age, educational attainment, marital status, insecurity recogni-tion, and competency recognition. According to the result of the multiple regression analysis, the insecurity recognition was found to significantly affect the social performance and self-confidence, depression, sleep disturbance and anx-iety, general well-being and vitality, whereas the competency recognition affected the social perfor-mance and self-confidence, sleep disturbance and anxiety, and overall psychosocial well-being. CONCLUSION: The insecurity and competency recognitions against the restructuring were found to be the major factors affecting the workers psychosocial well-being. It is suggested that a decreased worker's insecurity recognition of the restructuring, and the competency recognition for the workers psychosocial health needs require promoting.

7.Clinical Significance of the Renal Angiography.
Korean Journal of Urology 1983;24(5):723-727
Renal angiography is a highly valuable diagnostic procedure for the detection and exact evaluation of various renal disease, especially differentiation of benign and malignant lesions. During the period of January 1978 to December 1983, 39patients who had been taken renal angiography were analysed and following results were obtained. 1. Male to female ratio of performing renal angiography was approximately 1:1 and peak incidence was fifth decade. 2. Indication of renal angiography was renal mass, abnormal I.V.P. and R.G.P., renal bleeding, kidney donor, hypertension, in order of its frequency. 3. The most frequent diagnosis encountered was renal cell carcinoma (15 cases), diagnostic accuracy of renal angiography was 93.3%. 4. Arterial embolization of renal cell carcinoma was tried in 2 cases preoperatively, and it was found that this was a valuable method in reducing blood loss, in performing operation.

8.Dissociated Vertical Deviation after Correction of Infantile Esotropia.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1997;38(8):1451-1457
Dissociated vrtical deviation(DVD) is frequently associated with infantile esotropia. It is hard to find DVD before surgery for esodeviation, and usually found after surgery. We studied the occurrence of DVD in 176 patients who had had horizontal rectus muscle surgery for the correction of infantile esotropia and followed up for 6 months or more. DVD was seen in 78 patients(44.3%), preoperatively in 27 patients(34.6%) and postoperatively in 51 patients(65.4%). Among 51 patients with DVD after surgery, DVD occurred in 24.0% of patients with preoperative angle of esodeviation less than 50 PD and in 44.6% of patients with preoperative angle of esodeviation more than 51 PD(P<0.01). Most of them(25 of 51 patients) developed DVD within 6 months after esodeviation surgery, however, 12 patients were noted to develop even after 2 years. This shows that we need long term follow-up for the detection of DVD. The occurrence of DVD was not influenced by the time of surgery for esodeviation(P>0.05). Inferior oblique overaction(IOOA) was accompanied with DVD in 71.8% and occurred without DVD in 28.6%. This study revealed postoperative DVD developed more in large angle esotropia such as deviation angle greater than 51 PD, and IOOA was frequently accompanied. The result suggests that in large angle infantile esotropia with mild IOOA and DVD or fundus extorsion we may need the preventive correction of DVD and IOOA.

"To evaluate whether different qualifications of a cytologic diagnosis of atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) predict a greater or lesser likelihood of tissue diagnosis of uterine cervix, we compared different cytologic qualifications of ASCUS with the tissue diagnosis. One hundred twenty-two con- secutive Papanicolaou smears showing ASCUS in women who had undergone cervical biopsy within nearest 30 days were collected. The 122 smears were qualified as ""favor reactive (25%), favor low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) (24%), favor squamous intraepithelial lesion (SIL) (16%), favor high grade squa- mous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) (16%), and not otherwise specified (19%). Squamous intraepithelial or invasive lesion was pathologically confirmed by cervical biopsy in 13% of the favor reactive, 27% in favor LSIL, 70% in ""favor SIL, 75% in favor HSIL, and 35% in not otherwise specified smears. There were significant associations between the favor reactive smear and the benign biopsy finding and between the favor SIL smear and the biopsy showing a squamous intraepithelial or more severe lesion. Nevertheless, rnost of favor LSIL smears exhibit reactive process in tissue biopsy. Conclusively, qualified ASCUS stratifies women into different risk groups for SIL. The cytopathologist should make the cytologic diagnosis of ASCUS, favor LSIL circumspectly."

Korean Journal of Nosocomial Infection Control 2003;8(1):13-21
Background: A clinician reported unusually high incidence of A. xylosoxidans isolation from aspirated tissues in outpatient clinic. Methods: A. xylosoxidans isolates from January 2002 to June 2002 were investigated. The infection control nurse reviewed medical records and observed the procedures of tissue aspiration and culture at the clinical microbiology laboratory. Specimens were obtained for investigational cultures from dye, aspiration gun, slide alcohol sponge, tray, sink. water of sink, buffer solution, microscope, computer, and telephone. Results: A. xyloxosidans was isolated from twenty-four patients during 6 months. None of 24 cases had any typical signs or symptoms of infections by A. xylosoxidans. Observation of tissue aspiration and culture procedure revealed that buffer solution was used for prevention of specimen drying after tissue aspiration. Culture of the buffer solution yielded a heavy growth of A. xylosoxidans from four out of ten specimens. A. xylosoxidans was not isolated from any other investigational specimens. Conclusions: This was supposed to represent pseudoepidemic. Contaminated buffer solution was documented as the cause of this pseudoepidemic. The usage of buffer solution was stopped. During the follow-up period of 2 months, no additional A. Xylosoxidans was cultured from aspirated tissues.
