33 cases of the femur neck fractures experienced in the; Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Hanil Hospital were analyzed, and following results were obtained. 1. We obtained good result in 61% and fair result in 31% among the 33 cases when excluding 5 cases who died within 6 months after operation. 2. Good result was obtained in 80% out of 13 cases with the Sliding Compression Hip Screw. 3. We experienced 6 cases of nonunion (21%) and 5 cases of avascular necrosis (18%). Among those cases, 3 were treated with Austin-Moore prosthesis and total hip replacement was performed in 3 cases. 4. ln 4 among 6 cases of nonunion and 4 among 5 cases of avascular necrosis, unacceptable reduction was observed. 5. With pre-and post-operative internal rotation of the affected limb, only 2 cases had posteroinferior tilting of the femoral head. 6. In order to prevent the rotational malposition of the femoral head and relax the tightened soft tissues around the hip that were created by firmly manipulated lag screw, we added about 1/4 circle counter-clock wise rewind to the lag screw during the operation with the Sliding Compression Hip Screw.

Authors applied an acromioplasty, eg., division of coraco-acromial ligament and an excision of lateral 1cm of clavicle to 4 out of 50 cases who complained of persistent shoulder pain following mild trauma in spite of conservative care for several months. We believe that surgical intervention to post-traumatic shoulder pain is worth while.
