Generally, PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System) play an important role in the patient care support system of the HIS(Hospital Information System). In the dental PACS, image search and storage is very difficult without standardized DBI(Dental Bitmap Image) file format and view browser because each of the X-Ray instrument and the other image use various image file such as BMP, GIF, TIFF, PCX etc. We proposed the DBI for fast review, classification, storage and transmission of the dental image. It is based on personal computer environment. Using the thumbnail in the DBI, we made image files such as a type of album and operated on PC. We implemented DBI file format that include the DBI viewer and slide show application and other function of fundamental PACS by means of visual C++ and Windows API(Application Programming Interface). This program is consisted of three parts: First, convert the various image file format into DBI file format so as to integrated medical image file format. Second, additional descriptor such as patient name or necessary information to image file and management image file format. Second, additional descriptor such as patient name or necessary information to image file and management image file using patient information or date. Third, execution of the image of the image edit and image enhancement and image copression. Beside this Program Provide GUI interface for user's facility.

With improvement of life quality, the incidence of disease and the concern about preventive care is increasing. With the concern about medicine is changed from therapy medicine to preventive medicine several type of life long health care program is developed. In this study, we developed the life long health management system in order to provide continuity and compressive medical care. The purpose of developed program is to check the performance of regular health examination and specific screen test state result. The family health management system is provided two main function. The first function is save performance state of regular health examination and specific screen test of registered individuals and their family. The next function is to mail the letter of information about the date of next health examination and the result of health examination and specific screen test. By the selection GUI(graphic user interface) environment, we want to make easily usable user interface with Borland Delpie as program language and with Borland Paradox as development tool of the database.

The elevation of present medical service using advanced science contributes to offer medical examination and treatment of good quality under the subject of patient satisfaction as well as patient impression. The dental service field charging some part of public health promotion and public welfare promotion also intends to improve the dental examination and treatment quality utilizing advanced science. The object of this research is the development of dental treatment assisted system (DTAS) using multimedia technology. DTAS can be employed for these object ; harmonious operation of dental examination and treatment, treatment quality improvement, disease notice to patient under the subject of patient satisfaction and patient impression, explanation of some selective treatment course, the verification of treatment necessities and treatment validation, and the improvement of treatment effect through the oral hygiene education in the sense of prevention. This research also serves the development environment, the step to collect educational document, visual information and to structure those, and the examination of DTAS efficiency in clinic.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Carvedilol is a beta- and alpha-receptor blocker, a direct inhibitor of smooth muscle cell proliferation and migration, and it produced a significant suppression of neointimal hyperplasia in our porcine experiment. The purpose of the study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of carvedilol-eluting BiodiVysio stent implantation for de novo lesions. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We performed a prospective randomized trial to compare two types of stents for revascularization in 39 patients [Group I (carvedilol-eluting stent): n=20, 58.3+/-11.1 years, and Group II (control stent): n=19, 59.9+/-8.5 years]. The primary effective end points were major adverse cardiac events (MACE): cardiac death, acute myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularization (TLR), in-stent restenosis and late lumen loss at the one-year clinical and angiographic follow-up. RESULTS: All the stents were successfully deployed and the patients were discharged without experiencing any clinical events. The baseline clinical characteristics, baseline diameter stenosis and minimal luminal diameter were not different between the two groups. The follow-up diameter stenosis and late loss were significantly lower in the group I compared with group II (23.1+/-12.7% vs. 47.3+/-23.6%, p=0.012; and 0.52+/-0.26 mm vs. 1.12+/-0.67 mm; p=0.020, respectively). There were no TLR and MACE in group I; however the differences were not significant [0% (0/20) vs. 10.5% (2/19); p=0.231 and 0% (0/20) vs. 15.8% (3/19), p=0.106, respectively]. CONCLUSION: Carvediloleluting stents appear feasible to use and they may be effective in the prevention of coronary restenosis. These results warrant further confirmation with a large, randomized multi-center trial.
