It often happens that a removable partial denture needs to be repaired due to tissue changes in the remaining alveolar ridge, fracture of the denture, or fracture of the abutment tooth. There are several advantages to retrofitting a customized surveyed crown under the existing RPD. Retrofitting a crown to the RPD decreases the economic burden to the patient and avoids the need for several appointments to fabricate a new RPD. It is difficult for artificial teeth used to repair dentures due to fractured natural teeth to have a shape similar to that of natural teeth, and to repair aesthetic artificial teeth, it is necessary to manufacture customized artificial teeth similar to the shape of each patient’s teeth. Recently, CAD/CAM technology has been used to fabricate customized prosthetics on existing RPD to achieve high retention and fitness accuracy, and by manufacturing customized artificial teeth, more aesthetic and harmonious artificial tooth repair is possible. This is a case in which a denture was repaired using a digital method to fabricate a customized prosthesis on an existing partial denture and customized artificial teeth that mirrored the adjacent dentition, saving time and cost, simplifying the process, and achieving aesthetically and functionally satisfactory results.

The use of digital technology in fixed prosthetic treatment using implants enables predictive treatment through diagnosis and virtual surgery by integrating clinical and radiological information of patients. Existing digital scanning methods require several components to be removed, such as removing the healing abutment and connecting the scan body. In the scannable healing abutment developed in consideration of this point, scanning is performed directly on the healing abutment, maintaining soft tissue sealing and simplifying scanning. Digital technology can also be used when obtaining the intermaxillary relationship. Recently, various digital technologies have been reported to acquire the intermaxillary relationship of edentulous patients using surgical guides, patient-specific scanning devices, or scans of the inside of temporary dentures. In this case, the implant-supported fixed prosthesis treatment was performed through scanning the scannable healing abutment and the inner side of the temporary denture to obtain the intermaxillary relationship, thereby simplifying the treatment process and obtaining aesthetically and functionally excellent clinical results.

In order to fabricate stable dentures in patients with severe resorption of residual ridges, various factors must be considered. One of them is the neutral zone, which is defined as the potential region in which the pressure of the tongue outward in the oral cavity and the pressure of the cheeks and lips directed inward from the outside of the oral cavity equalize during functioning. In patients with severe ridge resorption, if the teeth are usually arranged above the residual ridge, the teeth are located on the lingual side rather than the original position. Therefore, the functional space of the tongue is invaded, the tongue is positioned backward, and the sealing of the lingual border is broken, which acts as a factor reducing the maintenance of denture. In addition, it is also important for the stability of dentures to assume an interalveolar crest line connecting the maxillary and mandibular ridge crests, and to arrange the maxillary and mandibular artificial teeth to match the masticatory force to the interalveolar crest line. Therefore, good clinical results were obtained by fabricating dentures for the patient with poor alveolar residual ridge using neutral zone impression and ridge relationship analysis.

Clinical Psychopharmacology and Neuroscience 2021;19(4):721-730
Objective:
The relationship among physical functional decline, low-grade inflammation, and depression remains unclear. The aim of this study was to examine the association between hand grip strength (HGS) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in a large sample with depression.
Methods:
This study used data obtained from a representative Korean sample of 9,402 people who participated in the seventh Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Physical function was assessed using a digital grip strength dynamometer. Depression was identified using a cutoff of 5 on the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and high hs-CPR level was defined as ≥ 3.0 mg/L.
Results:
In older adults (≥ 60 years) with depression, 43.8% of those with high hs-CRP levels had low HGS, compared to 21.8% of those with hs-CRP levels < 3.0 mg/L (p = 0.002). Multivariate analysis revealed that, after adjustments for potentially confounding factors, high hs-CRP was independently associated with lower HGS (B = −2.25; 95% confidence interval = −4.49 to −0.02) in older adults with depression, but not in younger or middle-aged adults with depression.
Conclusion
These findings suggest a significant correlation between physical functional decline and low-grade inflammation in older adults with depression.

Health Communication 2021;16(1):25-33
Background:
: Emergency physicians are increasingly participating in brain-death organ tissue donation (OTD).It is difficult communication to inform family members about suspected brain-death and potential donor. This study sought to explore the experiences and communication of emergency physicians in brain-death OTD.
Methods:
: This is a qualitative study that interviewed 10 experienced emergency physicians with brain-death OTD and analyzed the data by thematic analysis method.
Results:
: The study revealed 20 subthemes and 5 themes; 1) Families who are invited to donate organs make decisions after long periods of consideration by the entire family, 2) It is uncomfortable to recommend organ donation, 3) Explaining and obtaining consent is ‘the hardest job’ for the attending physician, 4) The way the attending physician does ‘the hardest job’ is by explaining, 5) Passively solicit donation.
Conclusion
: The experienced emergency physicians with brain-death OTD were using methods of communication to understand and sympathized with the family members and had abundant experiences. The findings of this study will help inexperienced emergency physicians with brain-death OTD.

Fabrication of complete denture with suction mechanism was introduced to enhance the retention and stability of denture by sealing around the denture border by formingnegative pressure on the inner side of denture base during functional movement such as swallowing or masticating. Mandibular suction dentures reduce denture dislodgingforce during opening by taking preliminary impression without pressure on retromolar pad area in rest position. In this case, fabrication of complete denture using suctionmechanism for an edentulous patient with severe alveolar bone resorption allowed us to clinically enhance retention and stability of denture and improve satisfaction ofpatient. With development of digital dentistry, the 3-dimensional (3D) manufacturing industry using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) has grown dramatically in recent years. Denture fabrication using digital method is also increasing due to the recent development of digital technology in dentistry. The 3D manufacturing process can be categorized into 2 types: subtractive manufacturing (SM) and additive manufacturing (AM). SM, such as milling is based on cutting away from a solid block of materal. AM, such as 3D printing, is based on adding the material layer by layer. AM enables the fabrication of complex structures that are difficult to mill. In this case, additive manufacturing method was applied to the fabrication of the resin-based complete denture to a 80 year-old patient. During the follow-up periods, the denture using digital method has provided satisfactory results esthetically and functionally.

In case of the treatment of maxillary anterior teeth, it should be taken into account the proper morphology, arrangement and color satisfying patient's esthetic demands. For this purpose, facial composition, dentofacial composition, dental composition and dentogingival composition should be considered making diagnosis and treatment plan in an esthetic point of view. In adjustable temporary crown state, careful evaluation and correction of the esthetic and functional aspect were performed, and the definite restoration was reproduced using double scan.
