2.Comparison of Direct-labeling Method of Antibody with 99mTc and 188Re.

PURPOSE: We investigated the direct labeling method of antibody with 99mTc and 188Re and examined the stability and function of these labeled compounds in in vitro and in vivo. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Disulfide bond of nonspecific human IgG was reduced to -SH group by 2-mercaptoethanol. Stannous ion was used to reduce 99mTc and 188Re. The stability of 99mTc-IgG and 188Re-IgG was estimated upto 24 hrs. Biodistribution was evaluated in abscess bearing rats at 4 and 24 hr post-injection of 99mTc or 188Re labeled IgG. RESULTS: The number of -SH group per reduced IgG molecule was 2.34. The labeling yield of 99mTc-IgG and 188Re-IgG were 90% and 95%, respectively. The stability of 99mTc-IgG at 1, 4, 6 and 24 hr was 91%, 83%, 78%, 7% and that of 188Re-IgG, high uptake was found on kidney, blood, stomach and abscess (9.42+/-0.68, 1.43+/-0.24, 0.86+/-0.18, 0.72+/-0.10 %ID/g, respectively). The uptakes at 24 hr were kidney, abscess, stomach, and blood in descending order. In case of 188Re-IgG, high uptake at 4 hr post injection appeared on kidney, blood, abscess and stomach (3.92+/-0.62, 1.32+/-0.08, 0.88+/-0.01, 0.26+/-0.06, respectively). The upatkes at 24 hr were kidney, abscess, blood abd stomach in descending order. The abscess to blood uptake ratio of 99mTc-IgG was 0.5 at 4 hr and 2.02 at 24 hr and that of 188Re-IgG was 0.67 and 1.29. CONCLUSION: 99mTc-IgG and 188Re-IgG and 188Re-IgG canbe labeled efficiently with direct labeling method. However, 99mTc-IgG and 188Re-IgG, labeled with direct method, was unstable. Further study in needed to enhance the stability of the antibody labeling.

4.Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Breast: A Case Report.

An inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is an uncommon type of tumor composed of spindle-shaped myofibroblast admixed with mature plasma and inflammatory cells. It is most common in the lungs and in various organs; however, a few cases of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the breast have been reported in the literature. To date, there are no typical radiologic findings but an ill-defined marginated mass which was a suspicious malignancy has been reported in the literature. Here, we describe the mammographic and ultrasonographic findings of a case of an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the breast with a spiculated margin which was strongly suspect as being a malignancy in a 36-year-old woman.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Computed tomography during arterial portography and computed tomography during hepatic arteriography (CTAP and CTHA), one of the most sensitive method in detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) nodules , is reported to reduce unnecessary operation of HCC. However, it is not clear whet her CT AP and CT HA can reduce early post operative recurrence rate of HCC. We performed this study to find any differences in early postoperative recurrence rate of HCC according to the imaging modalities used for preoperativest aging. METHODS: Ninety-seven patients with HCC who had underg one curative hepat icres ection from Dec.1994 to Mar. 1998 were included (median age = 52 years (26-78), M:F = 85:12). They were classified into 3 groups according to the imaging methods used for preoper ative staging: CTAP & CTHA group (n=56), Lipiodol CT group (n=24), and three phase helical CT group (n=16). No significant inter-group difference was found in preoperative status of the patients or characteristics of HCC. One-year recurrence rates were compared by log-rank test. RESULTS: HCC recurred in 17 of 97 patients (18.7%) within 12 months. A significant difference in 1- year recurrence rate was observed between the groups: helical CT , may be a superior imaging modality for preoperative staging of HCC that can reduce early postoperative recurrence rate.

8.Correlation between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 and the severity of atopic dermatitis in children with allergic or nonallergenic sensitization.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels and the severity of atopic dermatitis (AD), markers of atopy (total IgE, total eosinophil count, and eosinophil cationic protein) in AD children according to allergen sensitization. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was carried out on 160 AD patients aged 1 to 18 years between March 2012 and August 2014. The AD patients (AD group) were subdivided into 2 categories according to the results of the allergic skin prick and Unicap tests: the allergic and nonallergic AD groups. We compared 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels between the AD and control groups. We also investigated relationships between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels, the severity of AD, and markers of AD (total IgE, total eosinophil count, and eosinophil cationic protein) in the allergic and nonallergic AD groups. RESULTS: The average 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels were 30.6+/-11.7 and 23.7+/-10.0 ng/mL, respectively, in the control and AD groups (P<0.001). The average 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels were 19.7+/-8.6 and 27.5+/-9.8 ng/mL, respectively, in the allergic and nonallergic AD groups, with clinical implications (P<0.001). The 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels were not significantly associated with SCORing Atopic Dermatitis index in the allergic (P=0.004, r=-0.092) or nonallergic (P=0.610, r=-0.58) AD groups. The 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels were not significantly associated with the aforementioned markers of atopy in the AD group. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 may play a role in the pathogenesis of AD.
