1.Preliminary study on common molecular markers between endometriosis and ovarian cancer

Objective To determine common molecular markers between endometriosis and ovarian cancer . Methods The specimens from 31 endometriosis patients who underwent laparoscopic excision , 28 other disease patients with normal oarium and 35 ovarian cancer patients who received the ovariectomy were collected. Expressions of transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1), cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), estrogen receptor 1α(ER-1α), progesterone receptor (PR), androgen receptor (AR) and aromatase (CYP19) were detected by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results Compared with those in normal oarium group, the mRNA levels of TGF-β1, VEGF, ER-1α, AR, CYP19 and COX-2 in endometriosis group were increased by 2.05 fold, 2.20 fold, 3.32 fold, 1 . 45 fold , 3 . 19 fold and 3 . 00 fold , respectively , and the mRNA level of PR was reduced by 69 % ( all P< 0.05), while those in ovarian cancer group were increased by 5.61 fold, 7.61 fold, 7.49 fold, 4.79 fold, 7.76 fold and 5.35 fold, respectively, and the mRNA level of PR was reduced by 95 % (all P< 0.05). Conclusion In endometriosis and ovarian cancer tissues, the expression levels of TGF-β1, COX-2, VEGF, ER-1α, AR and CYP19 are increased, and the expression levels of PR are decreased, which maybe suggest both diseases are potentially relevant.
2.Assessment of effectiveness of individual rehabilitation therapy in nonspecific low back pain

Objective To explore the effectiveness of individual rehabilitation therapy in patients with nonspecific low back pain.Methods A total of 50 patients with nonspecific low back pain ( NLBP) between January 2013 and January 2015 were enrolled in this study.Individual rehabilitation therapy was performed based on their different pathogenesis and risk factor of low back pain.Visual analogue score (VAS),Oswestry disability index ( ODI) and Japanese orthopaedic association ( JOA) were used for the assessment of effectiveness of individual rehabilitation therapy.Results Compared with pre-rehabilitation, VAS and ODI scores were significantly decreased at two-week after rehabilitation(P<0.05),and were further decreased at six-week after rehabilitation(P<0.01).The mean score of JOA of 50 patients before rehabilitation was (10.83 ±2.94) score,which was decreased to (24.37±7.55 )score at six-week after rehabilitation(P<0.05),with 12 patients were cured,32 were improved obviously,6 were improved moderately.The rate of efficacy was 100%.Conclusion Individual rehabilitation therapy was an effective option for NLBP,with significant decrease of pain.
3.Effect of compound amino acid 15-peptide 2 injection on levels of tumor markers in serum of postoperative patients with liver cancer surgery

Objective To analysis effect of compound amino acid 15 peptide 2 on levels of tumor markers in serum of postoperative patients with liver cancer.Methods 42 postoperative patients who were diagnosed with liver cancer were collected.All patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, 21 cases in each group.The two groups of patients were given the corresponding parenteral nutrition therapy, after treatment, the serum tumor markers, T lymphocytes, liver function and nitrogen balance related indicators in all patients were detected.Results After treatment, compared with control group, the serum alpha fetal protein(AFP),carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9) and carcino embryonie antigen(CEA) levels were lower in the experimental group (P<0.05); the serum CD3 +T cells, CD4 +T cells and CD4 +/CD8 + ratio levels were lower in the experimental group (P<0.05); the serum alanine amino transferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and total bilirubin(TBIL) levels were lower in the experimental group (P<0.05); the patients in the experimental group changed to positive nitrogen balance(P<0.05).Conclusion The diluted compound amino acid 15-2 injection for intravenous injection,can significantly reduce the level of serum tumor markers in patients with liver cancer, improve the immune function of patients, correct negative nitrogen balance, protect liver function.
4.Double Roots of Mandibular Premolar in Full-mouth Periapical Films.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the incidence of two-rooted mandibular premolar morphology using full-mouth periapical film series in a Chinese population, with particular emphasis on bilateral incidence, so as to provide a clinical anatomical basis for root canal treatment in mandibular premolars.
METHODSA total of 2015 patients who underwent dental treatment and had full mouth periapical radiographs at the Peking University School of Stomatology from April 2011 to April 2012 were enrolled in this study. Three experienced dentists reviewed the patients' periapical films and classified the root morphology of mandibular premolars bilaterally. The incidence of unilateral and bilateral double roots were recorded and calculated, including confirmed and suspected bucco-lingual root types.
RESULTSIn terms of the morphology of two-rooted mandibular first premolars, of the 2015 cases with complete root formation, two-rooted first premolars were detected in 120 cases, with a total number of 159 teeth. According to the number of teeth, the overall incidence of double roots was 4.03% (159/3972). In terms of the morphology of two-rooted mandibular second premolars, of the 2015 cases with complete root formation, two-rooted second premolars were detected in 24 cases, with a total number of 33 teeth. According to the number of teeth, the overall incidence of double roots was 0.85% (33/3880).
CONCLUSIONSThe roots of mandibular premolars display specific morphological patterns. Based on a large sample, we observed and calculated not only the occurrence rate of bucco-lingual and mesio-distal double roots in first and second mandibular premolars, but also the incidence of unilateral or bilateral double roots within the same mandible. These findings could provide useful information on the anatomical structure of mandibular premolars for endodontic, prosthodontic and surgical procedures, and could improve the quality of treatment and reduce complications.

5.Research on the Historical Origin and Development of Four Method s of Flying Through the Air

The method of flying through the air is a qi-promoting and qi-circulating technique commonly used in clinical acupuncture. It includes four methods: the blue dragon wagging its tail, the white tiger shaking its head, the green turtle probing the cave and the red phoenix winging to the source and functions to circulate bodily meridian qi. The method of flying through the air was firstrecorded in Golden needle Fu. Later and modern doctors developed it on the basis of Golden needle Fu. This article straightens up the historical origin and development of four methods of flying through the air.
6.Systematic Evaluation onYupingfeng Granules Combined with Western Medicine in the Treatment of Children with Recurrent Respiratory Tract Infections

ObjectiveTo evaluate clinical efficacy ofYupingfeng Granules combined with western medicine for children with recurrent respiratory tract infection (RRTI).Methods CNKI, VIP, WANFANG DATA, SinoMed, PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched for the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that investigated the clinical and immune effects ofYupingfeng Granules in children with RRTI from inception to October 2015. Two researchers independently screened studies according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracted data and evaluated the methodological quality of included studies. Then Meta analysis was performed through the software RevMan 5.3.Results A total of 8 articles involving 550 patients were included. The results of Meta analysis showed effective rate ofYupingfeng Granules combined with western medicine for children with RRTI [OR=4.16, 95%CI (2.49, 6.95),P<0.000 01], IgA level [MD=0.52, 95%CI (0.26, 0.78),P<0.000 1], IgG level [MD=2.75, 95%CI (1.25, 4.25),P=0.000 3], CD4+ level [MD=6.15, 95%CI (4.76, 7.54),P<0.000 01], CD4+/CD8+ level [MD=0.36, 95%CI (0.25, 0.47),P<0.000 01]. All of the above were superior to single western medicine treatment. There was no statistical significance in levels of IgM and CD8+(P>0.05). ConclusionYupingfeng Granules combined with western medicine can improve effective rate, antibody level and T-cell level in the treatment of children with RRTI. The overall clinical efficacy is better than single western medicine treatment. However, RCTs with large samples, multiple centers and high quality are needed for further verification.
7.Prostate health index in predicting the results of prostate biopsy for prostate cancer: a meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVETo systematically evaluate prostate health index (PHI) in predicting the results of prostate biopsy in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
METHODSWe retrieved the literature relevant to the value of PHI in predicting prostate cancer at prostate biopsy published from the inception to February 2014 in the databanks of PubMed (1966 - 2014), CNKI (1982 - 2014), VIP (1989 - 2014), and Cochrane Library (1999 - 2014). According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and retrieval strategies, we extracted the data, evaluated the quality of the included literature, and performed meta-analysis using the Meta-Disc 1.4 software.
RESULTSTotally, 64 articles were identified, of which 52 were excluded and 12 included with 1 430 cases of prostate cancer and 2 159 normal or BPH controls. There was heterogeneity among the included studies. Based on the random effect model, in predicting the results of prostate biopsy in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, serum PHI exhibited a pooled sensitivity of 55.1% (95% CI: 0.525 - 0.577), a pooled specificity of 71.5% (95% CI: 0.695 - 0.734), a positive likelihood ratio (P-LR) of 2.379 (95% CI: 1.922 - 2.943), a negative likelihood ratio (N-LR) of 0.515 (95% CI: 0.428 - 0.619), a diagnosis odds ratio (DOR) of 5.268 (95% CI: 3.870 - 7.170), a summary receiver operating characteristic curve--area under the curve (SROC AUC) of 0.7578, and a Q * index of 0.6999.
CONCLUSIONSerum PHI plays a role of auxiliary diagnosis in detecting prostate cancer and can be used in the prediction of the results of prostate biopsy.

8. BACE1 inhibitors: From peptide mimics to small molecules

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder. According to the amyloid cascade hypothesis, abnormal accumulation of amyloid peptides(Aβ)in the brain resulting in neuronal toxicity is the main cause of AD. β-secretase1 (BACE1)is a rate-limiting enzyme that hydrolyzes β-amyloid precursor protein(β-APP)to produce amyloid peptides(Aβ). Therefore, BACE1 has been considered to be an attractive therapeutic target for the treatment of AD. Different structural classes of BACE1 inhibitors have been designed and developed since BACE1 was cloned and identificated. This review highlights the core scaffold to summarize the evolution of structure-based design of BACE1 inhibitors.
9.Expression and significance of vasculogenic mimicry and matrix metalloproteinase-2 in prostate cancer

Objective To find out if an unique blood mode-vasculogenic mimicry (VM) exist in prostate cancer and analyze its relationship with prognosis. Methods The age of the patients was 59 to 72 years,with a mean age of (66.7 ± 11.0) years.All had been confirmed as prostate cancer by biopsy.The level of serum PSA was 15.6 to 76.7 μg/L,with a mean level of (34.6 ± 1.7 ) μg/L.A histochemical and immunohistochemical dual staining method for PAS-CD31 and MMP-2 in 96 prostatic adenocarcinomas were conducted to explore if VM exist in prostate cancer,describe its morphology and distribution.The different expression of MMP-2 in VM positive and VM negative tissue were.The clinical data were collected and analyzed to explore the relationship between disease progression and VM. Results Among 96 cases,24 cases were found VM positive,the others were negative.The boundary membrane of VM was PAS positive,which was continuous or incontinuous. A positive correlation between VM density and high Gleason score were found.The tPSA were higher in the VM positive cases than that in VM negatives.The VM positive patients had poorer prognosis than that of the negatives.The MMP-2 expression was found correlated with VM positive (rs =0.60,P < 0.01 ). Conclusions VM exists in the prostate cancer as an independent structure,and it is more common in the high-grade cancer.The progression-free survival of VM positive patients could be worse than the negative.MMP-2 and VM could be the indicators of poor prognosis.
10.Preliminary Study on the Biological Basis of TCM Syndromes Based on Literature Mining

Objective To explore the biological basis of TCM syndromes from a biomolecules network perspective with qi deficiency syndrome as the breakthrough point. Methods A data dictionary of neuro-endocrine-immune (NEI) related genes and qi deficiency syndrome characterization terminology thesaurus were established. Literature about qi deficiency syndrome characterization was retrieved by using Genclip, to excavate the characteristic NEI gene, thereby to explore different bioactive substances of syndromes. Results The analysis of the genetic data, showed qi deficiency related cluster with the relevance of endocrine, signal transduction, hematopoietic cell and immune deficiencies etc. It is confirmed that the intrinsic biological features of TCM syndrome can effectively identify in the NEI level. Conclusion Literature mining method as a new way to discover syndromes biological indicators has certain feasibility, and it is recommended to be further expanded into other studies on syndromes to validate the universality and reliability of this method.
