ABSTRACT:Zeqi Decoction is originated from Synopsis of Golden Chamber effective in curing cough and asthma due to phlegm and retained fluid, which has not received enough attention for a long time because of its simple description. Both ac-tion mechanism of this formula and its clinical practical value are revealed by analyzing the mechanism of cough and asthma due to phlegm and retained fluid as well as its clinical manifestation, herbal compatibility and Function characteristics. It is proved that Zeqi Decoction shares the similar function with Shizao Decoction,Kongxian Pill in draining water and removing phlegm. However, apart from mainly efficient in dispelling pathogens like activating yang, relieving retained fluid, lowering the adverse qi to stop cough,Zeqi Decoction is also able to support the healthy qi,making itself suitable to to treat cough and asthma due to phlegm-fluid lying latent in the lung or fluid retained in chest and hypochondrium.

OBJECTIVEThe frequency of the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is increasing worldwide. The cardiovascular anomalies are one of the most frequent clinical manifestations in this syndrome. This study was designed to determine the frequency of 22q11.2 deletions in a prospectively ascertained sample from children with isolated conotruncal defects in China.
METHODSTwenty-four children with isolated conotruncal defects were prospectively enrolled and screened for the presence of 22q11.2 deletions using fluoresence in situ hybridization. The 24 patients consisted of two cases of persistent truncus arteriosus (PTA), five cases of pulmonary atresia/ventricular septal defect (PA/VSD), thirteen cases of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), and four cases of double outlet right ventricle (DORV).
RESULTSOnly 1 of the 24 patients had 22 q11.2 deletions. The frequency of 22q11.2 deletions (4.2%) was lower than that reported by other authors.
CONCLUSIONSAlthough 22q11.2 deletion is common in syndromic conotruncal anomalies, it is rare in isolated conotruncal anomalies.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical value of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in assessing pathologic responses in breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
METHODSForty-five patients with pathologically confirmed breast carcinoma who finished last course of neoadjuvant chemotherapy underwent preoperative breast MRI. All the specimen slices were blindly reviewed by one pathologist. Pathologic response was assessed according Miller & Payne five-point classification, of which grade 5 defined as pathological complete response (pCR) , and grade 5 or 4 defined as major histological response (MHR). DCE-MRI images were blindly reviewed by two radiologists retrospectively on workstation with Functool software. Any non-vessel enhancement in previous tumor bed in any phase of postcontrast acquisition was defined as residual disease. The diagnostic results of two radiologists were correlated to pathological gold standard. Inter-observer consistency was analyzed by Kappa statistics.
RESULTSDCE-MRI for pathological invasive (pINV) residual disease detection in two radiologists had sensitivities of 94.7% and 97.4%, specificities of 42.8% and 57.1%, and accuracy of 86.6% and 91.1%, respectively, while MHR evaluation had sensitivities of 95.5% and 81.8%, specificities of 73.9% and 82.6%, and accuracies of 84.4% and 82.2%, respectively. K values in determine pINV and MHR were 0.728 and 0.778, respectively, showing good inter-observer consistency.
CONCLUSIONDCE-MRI is sensitive in detecting residual breast cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and can be used to predict the postoperative pathologic response.

OBJECTIVETo explore the potential markers of colorectal cancer metastasis and the influence of 5-FU on differentially expressed proteins by using proteomic technology, and to elucidate the mechanism of colorectal cancer metastasis.
METHODSHuman colorectal carcinoma cell lines of different metastatic potential, Lovo and SW480 were conventionally cultured, and the protein was extracted. 50% inhibitory concentration (IC(50)) of 5-FU to these two cell lines was measured by MTT assay. Proteins of these two cell lines after intervention by 5-FU at IC(50) were extracted, then 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis was conducted for the proteins. The differential protein spots were examined by mass spectrometry and analyzed by bioinformatics. Difference of expressed proteins in two cell lines before and after the intervention of 5-FU was validated by Western blot and immunofluorescence.
RESULTSEleven differentially expressed proteins were identified by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry. The hnRNP K protein and PDI were selected to be examined by Western blot and immunofluorescence. Results revealed that the expression of hnRNP K in Lovo was higher than that in SW480, while the expression of PDI was lower in Lovo. After intervention by 5-FU at IC(50), the expression of hnRNP K in Lovo decreased more as compared to SW480, while the expression of PDI in SW480 increased more as compared to Lovo.
CONCLUSIONThere are significant differences in expression of hnRNP K and PDI proteins between Lovo and SW480 cell lines, and the proteins alter regularly after 5-FU intervention.
