Leiomyoma is a benign tumor, which usually occur at the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract and uterus but rarely occurs on the corpus cavernosum of the penis. We experienced a patient with leiomyomas on the bilateral corpus cavernosa of the penis accompanied with impotence in a 60-year-old man. The patient was treated with complete local excision and has remained well without recurrence for l year, So we report this case with review of literatures.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1996;25(9):1885-1889
The authors report a rare case of gunshot injury to the head by a nail-gun which was treated by stereotactic surgery. In the case, a 23-year-old male patient, presented with semicomatose mentality and decerebrated rigidity. The large nail was located in the 3rd ventricular area in the mid-line with vertical stature. The entry point was identified 1cm anterior to the coronal suture line and just lateral to the sagittal suture line. The foreign body was removed stereotactically with the guidance of gluoroscope. But the died of initial severe brain damage.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1997;26(6):822-829
Conventional radiographs and simple CT scans fail to provide accurate information about the structural integrity of a fracture site. In recent years, special 3-dimensional CT scanning has been progressively developed, and we applied this technique to thoracolumbar compression fractures. Posterolateral spinal fusion with iliac bone graft was attempted in all patients; Comparative pre- and post-operative change in these fractures was then an-alysed, using 3-dimensional CT. The results of this study suggest that this imaging is a useful non-invasive technique to assess compression fracture and determine prognosis.

OBJECTIVE: The surface roughness of orthodontic materials is an essential factor that determines the coefficient of friction and the effectiveness of tooth movement. The aim of this study is to evaluate the surface roughness change of the brackets and wires after experimental sliding quantitatively. METHODS: Before and after experimental sliding tests, the surface roughness of stainless steel brackets, ceramic brackets, stainless steel wires, and beta-titanium (TMA) wires were investigated and compared using atomic force microscopy (AFM). RESULTS: After sliding tests, changes in the surface of the wire were greater than changes in the bracket slot surface. The surface roughness of the stainless steel bracket was not significantly increased after sliding test, whereas the roughness of ceramic brackets was decreased. Both the surface roughness of stainless steel and TMA wires were increased after sliding test. More changes were observed on the ceramic bracket than the stainless steel bracket. CONCLUSIONS: AFM is a valuable research tool when analyzing the surface roughness of the brackets and wires quantitatively.
