Objective To evaluate the performance of electrolyte module in OLYMPUS AU5421 Automatic Biochemical Analy-zer in K+ ,Na+ ,Cl- detection .Methods Electrolyte module in OLYMPUS AU5421 Automatic Biochemical Analyzer was employed to detect K+ ,Na+ ,Cl- ,and their precision ,accuracy ,linearity range ,cross-contamination and the test results of instruments were compared .The linear regression equation and regression coefficients were calculated according to the methods of Clinical and Labo-ratory Standards Institute(CLSI) EP6-A ,EP9-A2 documents .Results The within-run precisions of K + ,Na+ ,Cl- were 0 .328% , 0 .306% ,0 .343% ,respectively ,and their between-run precisions were 0 .780% ,1 .012% ,0 .985% ,respectively .Their regression coefficients of linear equation were all greater than 0 .999 ,and their cross-contamination rate were 1 .066% ,0 .812% and 0 .858% , respectively .Conclusion Electrolyte module in OLYMPUS AU5421 Automatic Biochemical Analyzer modules has advantages of good precision ,accuracy ,linear range ,and low cross-contamination rate .

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of specific point acupuncture and manipulative adjustment on muscle strength of the knee osteoarthritis. Method: One hundred and five patients were randomly allocated to two groups. Sixty-eight cases in the treatment group were treated by specific point acupuncture and manipulative adjustment on muscle strength of the knee joint. While 37 cases in the control group were treated with specific point acupuncture alone. Result: The total effective rate was significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion: Specific point acupuncture and manipulative adjustment on muscle strength of the knee joint has a satisfactory curative effect on knee osteoarthritis.

Objective To establish written and electronic archives of Schistosoma japonicum antibody indirect hemagglutina-tion(IHA)tests. Methods In the process of schistosomiasis screening by IHA,the written records,electronic records,and se-rum sample bank were combined to make comprehensive archives. Results The S. japonicum antibody IHA test archives can pre-serve the schistosomiasis screening data in the long term and even can trace the source of experiments,and the operation was sim-ple. Conclusion The archives of S. japonicum antibody IHA tests are simple and useful,and worth of popularization.

Objective To analyze the characteristics of bone scintigraphy in 117 cases with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT).Methods Of these 117 cases (50 males and 67 females),there were 116 parathyroid adenomas and 1 parathyroid cancer.Mean age was 61.1(12-86) years old.All had ~(99)Tc~m-methylene diphosphonate (MDP) bone scintigraphy.The bone images could be classified into 4 categories.Category Ⅰ:normal;category Ⅱ:localized abnormal,which could be subcategorized as Ⅱ A with skull and mandible involvement,and Ⅱ B with Ⅱ A characteristics plus metabolic derangement;category Ⅲ:systemic,whole-body incmased tracer uptake;category Ⅳ:systemic plus localized metabolic derangement.Data were analyzed statistically with X~2 and t-test (isolated samples).Results According to the scintigraphic findings,there were 47 cases(40.17%)of category Ⅰ,35 cases(29.91%) category Ⅱ (21/35cases Ⅱ A and 14/35 cases Ⅱ B),30 cases (25.64%) category Ⅲ,and 5 cases (4.27%) category Ⅳ.Combining categories Ⅱ、Ⅲ and Ⅳ together,there were 70 abnormal cases.These patients had history of abnormal bone images such as bone fracture (39 cases,55.71%),calculus (8 cases,11.43%),bone fracture plus calculus(7 cases,10.00%),osteoporosis (51 cases,72.86%) or ostalgia(26 cases,37.14%);however,in the 47 cases of category Ⅰ,only 1 (2.13%),0,0,10(21.28%)and 10 cases (21.28%),respectively,were found.Therefore.these case history characteristics were statistically significant (X~2=11.152,P=0.01).The tumor size,parathyroid hormone (PTH),blood calcium,blood phosphorus in the patients of abnormal PHPT categories Ⅱ to Ⅲ were(14.52±13.72)cm~3,(731.67±618.40)ng/L,(3.05±0.29) mmol/L and (0.71±0.14) mmol/L,respectively.with statistically significant difference compared to category Ⅰ:(0.78±1.33) cm~3,(112.04±62.98)ng/L,(2.56±0.42) mmol/L and (1.03±0.36)mmol/L(t=-5.724,-5.741,-7.274 and -6.451;all P＜0.01).Conclusions (1)Bone scintigraphy was normal in 40% of PHPT patients.(2)The bone images of PHPT could be classified into 4 categories and each could reflect the duration and severity of the disease status on bone.(3)The bone imaging characteristic could be useful for differential diagnostic purposes.

Objective To establish an indicator system for performance assessment of women and children health care institutions,and provide basis for performance management of such institutions.Methods In this study,literature searching,expert discussion,Delphi method,coefficient of variation method,correlation analysis,principal components analysis,factor analysis and cluster analysis were used to establish the indicator system.In addition,expert scoring and CRITIC methods were called into play to calculate the weight coefficient of each index,and to test the validity and reliability of such an indicator system.Results Thanks to the framework of this indicator system,we set up six class 1 indicators,including heahhcare quality,healthcare efficiency,quality and efficiency of public health service,social efficiency,economic benefit,and development potential.Conclusions Scientific studies can help us build a scientific and practical general performance assessment indicator system applicable to women and children care hospitals at all levels.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the proliferation inhibition and the differentiation effects of realgar (As4S4) nano-particles on human acute myeloid leukemia cell line HL-60.

METHODCell viability was determined by MTT and PI-stained cell cycle assays. The realgar induced morphological changes on cells were examined after Wright-Giemsa staining. The cell differentiation was evaluated with NBT and specific cell surface antigen (CD11b and CD14) expression assays.

RESULTHL-60 cells exhibited obvious morphological features of differentiation after the realgar treatment. A 24 h incubation of the cells with 0.25-1.0 micromol x L(-1) realgar caused a great increase in NBT reduction ability. The expressions of CD11b and CD14 were augmented in cells treated with 0.50 micromol x L(-1) realgar for 48 h, and cell cycles were arrested in G1 phase.

CONCLUSIONLow dose realgar induces differentiation in human acute myeloid leukemia cell line HL-60.

Objective To explain the physiological properties of serum leucine aminopeptidase (LAP) and discuss the different levels and clinical meaning of serum LAP during the second and the third trimester of gestation.Methods Rate turbidimetry was used to assay serum LAP activity of 175 pregnant women in the second trimester of gestation, among whom 162 were normal and 13 were intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), and 302 pregnant women in the third trimester of gestation, among whom 215 were normal, 76 were ICP, 6 were pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome and 5 were premature delivery, and 100 healthy or non-pregnant women.Results Serum LAP activity of pregnant women in the group of the second trimester of gestation was (140.43?64.39) U/L, in the group of the third trimester of the gestation was (234.72?93.53) U/L, and in control group was (72.62?15.31) U/L. Objective To determine the methylation level of P15INK4B gene promoter in different types of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and its correlation with its prognosis.Methods Methylation frequency of the P15INK4B gene promoter in 44 cases of MDS were determined by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and pyrosequencing,and its correlation with clinical classification and characteristics of MDS were statistically analyzed.Results Frequency of P15INK4B gene promoter methylation in myelodysplastic syndromes-refractory anemia with excess blasts Ⅱ (MDS-RAEB Ⅱ) patients was (46.89 ± 15.41) ％,significandy higher than that in other types of MDS (P ＜ 0.05),but no difference in promoter methylation frequency was detected among the other types of MDS (P ＞ 0.05) ; frequency of P15INK4B gene promoter methylation was found to be correlated with decline in platelet upon diagnosis (t =9.02,P ＜ 0.01),but showed no significant correlation with drop of hemoglobin or leukopenia (P ＞0.05).As for the correlation between P15INK4B gene promoter methylation and MDS risk stratification,no significant difference was detected between the low-risk and very low-risk groups (P ＞ 0.05),but significant differences were detected among the medium-risk,high-risk,and very high-risk groups (P ＜ 0.05).In addition,frequency of P15INK4B gene promoter methylation was (49.21 ± 8.78)％ in MDS patients that developed leukemia in the following two year,significantly higher than that in MDS patients who didn't (19.64 ± 6.24) ％ (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions P15INK4B gene promoter methylation frequency is a valuable indicator of prognosis of MDS patients.
