1.Research progress in the application of bone marrow stem cell in ophthalmology
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(6):563-565
Bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) are a type of self-renewing,multipotential stem cell group that mainly locate in bone marrow.Due to their great expansion,seLf-renewing and the potential ability of differentiating into a wide variety of cell types,BMSCs have become ideal target cells of tissue engineering, cell transplantation and gene therapy. The ophthalmology-related BMSCs research is primarily focused on the therapy of the corneal diseases and retinal diseases. The therapy of the retinal diseases include vitreous cavity injection and subretina transplantation. Both of them get some exciting effectiveness. However, less reports of the application of BMSCs in optic nerve diseases are seen up to now.The research about BMSCs provides a new clue for solving the modern ophthalmology diseases. But the research remains still in an animal experiment stage. Many relevant problems need to solve prior to its going into clinical trial. This review sumumarized the development, characteristics and prospect of BMSCs.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(08):-
Objective To explore the changes in serum protein profiles in rats after psychological stress. Methods Twenty-four male Wistar rats were randomly divided into psychological stress group, control group and stressor group. Rats in stressor group received intermittent foot-shock. Instead of foot-shock,the rats in psychological stress group received the stimulating information from stressor group by watching, listening and smelling. Rats in control group were kept in individual cages and received no stimulation. Experiments were performed once every morning for two weeks. Serum samples of rats in both psychological stress group and control group were obtained and the changes in protein profiles were determined and statistically analyzed by Surface Enhanced Laser Desorption Ionization-Time of Flight-Mass Spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) after the experiments. Results Variance analysis showed that the relative contents of proteins with M/Z values of 8870.18,6860.85,8625.13 and 11 413.91Da decreased significantly in rats of psychological stress group as compared with control group (P

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2002;0(04):-
Objective To evaluate the effects of hypogastric artery ligation to treat massive hemorrhage in pelvic fractures with abdominal organ injuries. Methods The pelvic fractures of 16 patients were classified as Tile B type in 10 cases and C type in 6. Among them there were 6 open fractures and 20 sites of abdominal visceral injuries. The capacity of retroperitoneal hematoma, which was ruptured in 6 cases, ranged from 800 ~2 500ml with 1 400ml on average. The bleeding volume in the survivals was 1 500~5 800ml with 2 600ml on average. Ligation of bilateral hypogastric artery was carried out in all patients with intra abdominal injuries within 6h. Of them, skeletal traction was used in 7 cases while pelvic external fixation in 5 cases. Results One death occured dut to consumptive coagulopathy with hematorrhea. Of the 15 survivals, bleeding was controlled in 8 cases, decreased in 5 and uncontrolled in 2. The effective rate was 81.3%(13/16) and the survival rate 93.8%(15/16). Conclusion When emergency celiotomy is performed for abdominal injuries, a rational application of hypogastric artery ligation can play a positive role in control of pelvic hematorrhea.

Objective To investigate the causes, preventive measures and treatment of digestive tract injury during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Methods From January 2000 to December 2007,totally 21 640 patients underwent LC in our hospital, among them,16 had digestive tract injury including injuries in the stomach and duodenum in 14 patients,in the colon in 1,and in the ileum in 1. Results Among the 16 cases,13 were detected during the operation, and thus laparoscopic repair were performed on 3 of the cases, and conversion to open surgery were carried out for the other 10 for repair of the injured tract (7 cases) or major resection of the stomach and Roux-en-Y anastomosis (3 cases). The other 3 patients were confirmed after LC;they received open surgery for repair of the ileum, colostomy or intra-abdominal cavity drainage. In the 16 cases, one patient died of duodenal leakage complicated with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome in 7 days after the operation;the other 15 patients were cured and discharged from hospital without severe complications. Conclusions Most of the digestive tract injury cases during LC are caused by pericholecystic inflammatory adhesion, which leads to insufficient exposure of the surgical field resulting in the tear or perforation of the digestive tract. Proper treatment in early stage is the key to the prognosis of the patients and prevention of severe complications.

Studying effects of 50 Hz sinusoidal electromagnetic fields (SEMFs) with different intensities on peak bone mass (PBM) of rats may provide a theoretical basis for application of electromagnetic clinical field. 30 female SD rats, 6 weeks of age, were randomly divided into three groups: the control group, 0.1 mT electromagnetic field group (EMFs) and 0.6 mT EMFs. The EMFs groups were treated for 3 h/day. After 8 weeks, we examined their bone mineral densities (BMD) , measured their bone biomechanical properties, and made serum levels of osteocalcin (OC), tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b (TRACP 5b), and histomorphometry. It was found that the BMD (P < 0.01), maximum mechanical load (P < 0.01) in the 0.1 mT group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and Yield strength (P < 0.05), the analyses of serum bone turnover markers and histomorphometric parameters were better than those in the control group (P < 0.05). However, the 0.6 mT group did not have significantly difference comparing with that in the control group. This study proved that 50 Hz 0.1 mT SEMFs can increased BMD, bone strength, and bone tissue microstructure. Therefore, 50 Hz 0.1 mT SEMFs can improve peak bone mass of rats.
