Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare disease characterized by tissue eosinophilia that can involve different layers of the gut wall and cause various gastrointestinal symptoms. We describe the UGI and CT findings of a case of diffuse eosinophilic gastroenteritis with tumor-like antral obstruction due to thickening of the submu-cosa and muscle layer in a 21-year-old male.

True cysts of the pancreas are rare, and enterogeous (duplication) cysts are extremely rare. We describe a case of enterogenous cyst of the pancreas located in the retroperitoneum, in which homogenous low attenua-tion, multiloculation, internal septation and cyst wall calcification were noted.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of aquatic exercise on pain, fatigue, body composition, physical fitness and psychological variables in women with arthritis. METHOD: With a quasi-experimental design, 37 women who had arthritis were assigned into an experimental group (n=19) or a control group (n=18). Aquatic exercise consisted of one hour of exercise in water, two days per week, for six weeks and a self-help process. Measures included physiologic and psychological variables before and after the exercise. Data was analyzed with the SPSS WIN using descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANCOVA. RESULT: The mean age of the subjects was 59 years in the experimental group and 52 years in the control group. Pretest scores in outcome variables were similar in both groups except BMI and body fat(%). After controlling for age, shoulder flexibility scores in the experimental group improved more than the control group (Rt: F=10.58, p=.003; Lt: F=5.91, p= .02; Waist: F=4.95, p= .03). Depression scores in the experimental group decreased (F=12.96, p= .001), and self efficacy and quality of life improved more than the others (F=5.07, p= .03; F=6.91, p= .01). CONCLUSION: Aquatic exercise can improve waist flexibility and shows consistent findings of improved shoulder flexibility and psychological function in women with arthritis.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate findings in MRI which maybe useful in differential diagnosis of cervical lymph node enlargement. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the MRI findings of cervical lymph node enlargement in surgically proven 13 patients. We analyzed the location, size and shape, signal intensity, margin between node and surrounding structures degree and patterns of contrast enhancement RESULTS: No disease specificity in location and size of lymphadenopathy. was demonstrated in MRI. Most lymph nodes shows isointensity or slightly increased signal intensity to adjacent muscle on T1WI and high signal intensity on T2WI. Most of the cases showed contrast enhancement with metastatic lymph nodes showing ring-like and/or patchy enhancement. Tuberculous lymphadenopathy showed homogeneous or rather thick walled ring-like enhancement and one or multiple central nonenhancing portions of eccentrical location in the node. Relatively homogeneous enhancements were noted on reactive lymphold hyperplasia, Lymphoma and Castleman's disease. CONCLUSION: MR imaging was helpful in differentiation of cervical lymph node enlargements. Tuberculous lymphadenopathy showed characteristic findings of rather spherical shaped, thick walled ring enhancement and multiple eccentrically located central nonenhancing portions.

PURPOSE: The object of this study is to compare the patient satisfaction in the view of scarring, cost, and hospital stay between the conventional suture method and a method using Histoacryl(R) (2-N-butylcyanoacrylate) adhesive for treating facial lacerations in the emergency department. METHODS: This study is a randomized prospective trial, which was conducted from December 2009 to January 2010. The participants include 109 patients who visited the emergency room in Deajon Eulji Medical Center. The ages ranged from 1 to 59 (mean age of 18.7), and all had facial lacerations of less than 3 cm. In order to treat the facial lacerations, an emergency medicine doctor used tissue adhesive (2-N-butylcyanoacrylate, Histoacryl(R)) for 41 patients in the experimental group, and a plastic surgeon performed conventional suturing for 68 patients in the control group. The ER-stay and the primary treatment fee were compared in the two groups, and the scarring was evaluated 10 to 11 months from suturing by using the Modified Hollander Method and the 10-cm scaled VAS (visual analogue scale: score 0=no scar, score 10=very severe scar). RESULTS: The ER stay was 76 minutes for the experimental group and 107 minutes for the control group, showing that statistically significantly less time of 31 minutes was taken in the experimental group. The cost of the experimental group was 40000 won (50.1%) more expensive than the control group, with an average cost of 121900 won for the experimental group and 81200 won for the control group. As for scar evaluation, 10.56 months after suturing, the experimental group showed a better result with a score of 2.6 compared to a score of 3.4 in the control group; however, this difference was not statistically significant (p<0.05). As to a detailed evaluation of scar characteristics, the experimental group had a statistically significantly better result in scar elevation, with a score of 0.6 compared to a score of 1.65 for the control group. CONCLUSION: If appropriate patients are selected, the method using tissue adhesive directly applied by an EM doctor not only decreases ER stay but also creates similar patients satisfaction, with statistically better result in scar elevation, compared to the conventional suture method; thus, ultimately general patient satisfaction is increased.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to describe the essence of the experiences of patients in an ICU, and to understand them from the patients' point of view. METHODS: Participants in this study were six patients in P hospital. Data collection consisted of in-depth interviews and an observation method done from January to April in 2005. The method was analysis using the phenomenological method proposed by Colaizzi(1978). RESULTS: The themes were classified into eight theme clusters. The eight theme clusters were finally grouped into four categories, 'shock', 'pain', 'gratefulness' and 'pleasure of revival'. CONCLUSION: The ICU patients had negative experiences in physical.mental critical situations, but also positive experiences in consolation and nurses and families' encouragement. Therefore, ICU nurses must support patients and their families to minimize the negative experiences and maximize the positive experiences.

PURPOSE: To investigate the outcome of frontalis suspension surgery congenital blepharoptosis with poor levator palpebral muscle function using preserved fascia lata with direct tarsal and frontalis fixation method. METHODS: Twelve congenital ptosis patients (fourteen eyes) who underwent frontalis suspension using preserved fascia lata with direct tarsal and frontalis fixation method between July 1999 and June 2002 with the mean follow-up time of 54.8 months (31 months~78 months) included. And the postoperative results were obtained from medical records retrospectively. RESULTS: The desired lid height was achieved in eight out of twelve patients (71.4%) after surgery. In four patients (4 eyes) (28.6%), adjustment was required due to under-correction within one month postoperatively. At a mean follow-up period of 54.8 months, all twelve patients had good final results with no postoperative complications. CONCLUSIONS: Frontalis suspension using preserved fascia lata with direct tarsal and frontalis fixation method provided cosmetically pleasing results with a low rate of ptosis recurrence and complication related to procedures. This method using preserved facia lata could be considered as alternative to the use of autogenous facia lata for the repair of ptosis.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to explore and understanding the nature of the shift workers' experience in industries requiring 24 hours-a-day service provision and support. For the purpose, the present researcher made a research question, "What are workers' experience in the shift work?" METHODS: In the study, 5 male shift workers, 3 female shift worker and a woman (key informant) whose husband is a shift worker participated. Then profound interviews with the participants were made after their agreement. RESULTS: The researcher classified the significant statements under 6 theme clusters, 1) sense of difference; 2) worries about health; 3) draining of emotion; 4) anxiety; 5) sadness; and 6) being comfortable. CONCLUSIONS: Shift work which is inevitable in modern society may have severe influences on shift workers' physical, mental and psychological aspects by causing their work cycle rhythm to be unbalanced. Finally, the researcher hopes that the results of the study would help understand workers' life and increase social concern and support to the workers.
