Korean Journal of Dermatology 1970;8(1):81-84
Generalized pustular psorissis which is originary described by von Zumbusch in 1910, is the most intense form of the acute exanthematic variant among psoriasis and it is to be occured as a rare disease. We presented a case of generalized pustular psoriasis of a 16 year-old girl, who suddenly developed wide spread pustules during the acute exacerbating course of the psoriasis which had started from the primary plaque on her left anterior chest one month ago. She was free from subjective symptom. As the objective sign, the leukocytosis was only one of the significant laboratory findings. All skin lesions were almost eleared by the oral administration of methotrexate in 3 months.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1970;8(2):91-94
Two cases of cutaneous sporotrichosis, especially one of which was verrucous type in baby aged 4 months, were described. Throush the literatures the verrucous manifestation in baby was not yet reported. It is known that verrucous sporotrichosis is to be developed in individual who has had local and general resistance obtained by the previous cutaneous infection or by the infection of internal organ. But no such evidences were noticed in our case.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1970;8(2):83-85
A case of 24 years old male with perifolliculitis capitis abscedens et suffodiens was reported This is, I presume the first case to be reparted in Korea. Clinically, the skin lesions were characterized by tbe multiple confluented indolent abscesses and hypertrophic scars which were developed on the vertex. On these lesions, there were also noticed complete alopecia and several dilated hair follicle orifices plugged by keratinous materials. The regional lymphnodes were not enlarged and the abscesses were proved bacteriologically sterile.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1977;12(3):367-370
Disc herniation is commonly thought to be disease of young and middle aged adult and the backache during adolescence and childhood frequently mislead the doctor to suspect other conditions such as epiphysitis, spondylolysis, and infection of vertebral column, etc. During the period of 1967~1977, 26 cases of juvenile disc herniation were collected at Catholic Medical College and the authors analysed these cases and the results are as follows. 1. The incidence was 3.4% of all disc herniation. 2. There was no sex predilection. 3. The clinical symptoms do not differ from that of the adult cases, but sensory disturbance and motor weakness appear less frequently. 4. Good result was obtained after the surgical removal of the involved disc. 5. The etiology of the disc herniation in childhood and adolescence is thought to be superimpositon of trauma over the preceding degenerative changes in disc.

8.Changes in Impulse Discharge of Muscular Afferent Fiber Activated by Lactic Acid

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1984;19(4):621-628
In anesthetized cats the effects of lactate-activated muscle spindle upon the group Ia muscular afferent fibers were studied. Laminectomy was done from L5 to Sl spinal cord level. Extracellular recording was done at dorsal root to record the impulse discharge from group Ia muscular afferent fibers. 1) Muscle spindle of Gastrocnemius-Soleus muscle were activated by lactate injection and exhibited increased impulse discharge through group Ia muscular afferent fibers. 2) There was latency of 7-12 seconds before muscle spindle is activated by lactate injection. But the whole response was not dose related. 3) The response pattern after lactate injection was divided into three groups which were excitation, inhibition and inhibition with preceding excitation. 4) Some responses were similar to those of bradykinin, sympathetic stimulation (adrenaline injection) and succinylcholine injection. 5) It was suggested that muscle spindle has characteristics of polymodal receptor which has responses to not only mechanical stimulation but also chemical stimulation.

Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1991;8(1):42-52
Two types of urine dipstick assays, Multistix-SG and Comber-9-Test RL, were compared for compatibility, accuracy, specificity and predictive values of a positive and negative test in 501 patients' urine and artificially prepared specimen. We found that the results of semiquantitative tests of Multistix-SG and Comber-9-Test RL performed were statistically similar in patients' specimen. The urinary leukocyte esterase tests of Comber-9-Test RL assays compared with urine sediment microscopy in regard to compatibility, sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values of a positive and negative test 83.7%, 48.1%, 90.3%, 47.4% and 90.1%, respectively. The urinary nitrite tests of Comber-9-Test RL assays compared with urine culture tests, in regard to compatibility, sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values of a positive and negative test were 90.3%, 19.4%, 84.7%, 53.8% and 94.1, respectively. For the urinary protein, the sulfosalicylic acid method was the most sensitive test for any kinds of protein, and Multistix-SG appeared more sensitive than Comber-9-Test RL for the albuminuria. For the urinary bilirubin and glucose, two dipstick assays were similar in their diagnostic efficiency. Finally in the urinary occult blood tests, Comber-9-Test RL assays was more sensitive than Multistix-SG.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1993;29(3):553-560
Intussusception is the most common cause of acquired intestinal obstructions during infancy and early childhood. Barium reduction and pneumoreduction have been sued widely as nonsugical method of treatment in radiologic department. In the past, attempts at barium reduction of intussusception were contraindicated in the presence of frank intestinal obstruction, shock, fever, dehydration, bowel perforation, peritonitis and longstanding symptoms. At present, however, there is no agreement on the contraindications, except for shock, peritonitis and bowel perforation. Especially, there is no consensus regarding its application on patient presenting with sign of frank intestinal obstruction. The authors analyzed the effect of pneumoreduction in the intussusception with sign of frank intestinal obstruction. Pneumoreduction was attempted in 53 cases of intussusception with sign of frank intestinal obstruction. Reduction was successful in 43 cases(81%). The mean fluroscopic time was 15.1 minutes and mean maximal pressure was 121.8mmHg in successful reduction. As complications, two cases of bowel perforation were observed, but could be treated surgically without any significant problem. In conclusion, pneumoreduction is a useful substitute for barium reduction in the management of pediatric intussusception with sign of frank intestinal obstruction.
