The selective low protein dietary in treatment of chronic renal failure aims at objectives in cluding reduction of symptom of hyperuremia and protection of function of rest normal kidney. However, the limitation of daily protein need will lead to lack of essential aminoacide. Use of ketoacid corresponding with aminoacid reduces the nitrogen supply, prevents the bad progress of chronic renal failure and limits the excessive filtration of glomerular, hyperphosphatemia and secondary increased para- thyroid function.

2.Research on dysglycemia on patients with chronic renal failure

Chronic renal failure is a common syndrome with progressive nature. The treatment for this condition is considered difficult. Apart from clinical manifestations of chronic hyperuremia, this condition also associates with other disorders including glucid metabolic disorders. Out of 40 patients who were involved in this study, 57.5% were found to have an increase in blood sugar level and 12.5% have suffered from diabetes. There was no difference in the rate of dysglycemia between males and females. The result of study showed that glucose tolerance disorders associated with the severity of disease, especially during the third and fourth stages that accounted for 45%.

3.Conservative treatment of chronic renal failure by reduced protein diet and supplementation of ketoacids

21 patients (male: 10) with average ages of 53.5 suffering chronic renal disease due to different causes received the reduced protein diet and supplementation of Ketoacids (Ketosteril). The average monitoring duration was 16.6 months.The results have shown that blood creatinine was reduced in 10 patients, was not changed in 6 patients and was increased in 5 patients after 1 months of treatment. The study concluded that the reduced protein diet combined with supplementation of ketoacids played an important role to slow the progression of renal failure and prevent patients from malnutrition.

Patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) experience a significant decrease in their living quality, due to the limitations imposed by the disease as well as the demands of the treatment that they receive. Some side effects contribute to the morbidity of these patients. Among them, erectile dysfunction (ED) is notable. This article reviews recent advances in etiological factor study and treatment of ED in CRF patients, which may guide the clinic practices in a considerable scale.

10.Novel trends in haemodialysis: where are we heading?

The mortality and morbidity of end-stage renal failure patients undergoing conventional thrice weekly in-centre haemodialysis remain alarmingly high despite continuing advances in haemodialysis technologies and improvements in clinical care. Home haemodialysis continues to be under-utilised in many parts of the world despite the reported benefits. Alternative haemodialysis regimens including longer and/or more frequent dialysis (e.g. nocturnal haemodialysis and short daily haemodialysis), haemodiafiltration and the use of high flux dialysers have become more widespread in recent years as nephrologists struggle to improve the dismal survival figures. Whilst most of the encouraging data have come from observational studies, many randomised controlled trials which will provide more robust data are already underway. This review aims to provide a concise update of the recent and novel trends in haemodialysis.
