3.Trichofolliculoma: A case report.

The trichofolliculoma is a rare tumor of the hair follicle occuring most often on the head and neck. We have experienced a case of 24-year-old female who had a small, dome-shaped, tan brown firm nodule on the nose. Under the clinical impression of a granuloma, an excisional biopsy of the nodule was done. Microscopically the lesion was composed of a large central cystic hair follicle with many srhall but well differenciated secondary hair follicles branching from the wall. Well developed secondary hair follicles were often grouped and were surrounded by a prominent stroma.

6.Effects on Problem Solving Ability and Learning Satisfaction of Nursing Students of Receiving a Teaching Method Using Standardized Patients - Blood Transfusion.

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to investigate the effects on problem solving ability and learning satisfaction in nursing students using a teaching method with a standardized patient (SP) receiving blood transfusion. METHOD: The research design was a quasi-experimental pre-and-post-test control and experimental group for the methodological comparison study. Participants were 43 (Exp.=22, Cont.=21) nursing students in G city. The experimental group participated in the teaching class using SP. The control group received conventional education using a simple model. Data were collected between June 5 and July 15, 2015, through self-report structured questionnaires and data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. RESULTS: There were significant differences in the level of problem solving ability (t=-2.75, p=.009), and learning satisfaction (t=-2.53, p=.016) between the experimental and control groups. CONCLUSION: The research findings indicate that, the teaching method using an SP is more effective in improving nursing students' problem solving ability and learning satisfaction compared to conventional education using a simple model. In the future it is necessary to develop scenarios of various cases and content, and to test their effectiveness.

8.The Surgical Managements for the Stone in the Hilum of the Submandibular Gland.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Transcervical submandibular gland excision has been commonly used for the treatment of stone in the hilum and intraglandular of SMG because of surgical difficulty. This study introduces a surgical approach without unnecessary submandibular or cervical resection. SUBJECTS AND METHOD: 27 patients who had stones in the hilum and internal area of SMG were treated at our department during the past one year. RESULTS: All stones were removed through intraoral approach without transcervical submandibular gland excision for all patients. For 18 patients with poor surgical field, the sublingual gland was removed before the removal of stone. Although a long term follow-up observation was not carried out, SMG hypertrophy was alleviated as time went by. No recurrence had been found so far. Post-surgical complications such as paralysis of the lingual nerve and the hypoglossal nerve were not found. CONCLUSION: This surgical method is a possible choice for the treatment of stones in the hilum and internal area of submandibular gland.

10.Intermittent central nervous system irradiation and intrathecal chemotherapy for recurrent central nervous system leukemia in children.

Between 1986 and 1990, four children with recurrent CNS leukemia who had previous CNS prophylaxis therapy were treated with intermittent central nervous system irradiation and intrathecal chemotherapy (IIIC). There was no isolated CNS recurrence. One patient died form bone marrow relapse. Three patients are alive without evidence of disease for 3E3/12 year to 3E6/12 year after the diagnosis of recurrence of CNS leukemia. This experience suggests that IIIC may be an effective treatment for preventing the recurrence of CNS leukemia without any serious side effects.
