1.A Study Of Surface Roughness Of Composite Resin.
The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 2000;38(1):108-115
This study was designed to compare the effect of polishing on surface roughness of composite resin. We used Z100(3M) composite resin and placed the composite resin in the hole (4mm thick and 4mm in diameter) of vinyl plate and polymerized it under manufacturer's instructions. Samples were divided into 5 groups by polishing methods. Group 1 was control: resin was polymerized under glass plate, Group 2: resin was polymerized without any polishing procedure, Group 3: resin was polymerized with a polishing procedure of abrasive disc, Group 4: bonding agent was applyed in thin layer an polymerized on the polished polymerized resin surface, Group 5: resin was polymerized under transparent celluloid strip. The surface roughness of each specimen was measured with Sufacoder SEF-30D (Kosaka lab. Ltd) under 0.08mm cut off, 0.05mm/s stylus speed, x40 horizontal magnification, x5000 vertical magnification. The results were as follows : 1. Group 1 showed the most smooth surface in this study. 2. Group 3 showed more rough surface than Group 2. Considering the surface roughness, it would be better to make the shape completely before polymerize the resin. To finish and polish after the polymerization of resin makes less smooth surface. 3. When we use the transparent celluloid strip, minimum finishing procedures are recommended. Any polishing procedure could not recover the smooth resin surface of celluloid strip. 4. Application and polymerization of the thin layer of bonding agent on the polished surface showed the minimum surface smoothing effect.

We report a 27-year-old male with rnultiple pruritic papulovesicular eruptions on the whole body without any gluten-sensitive enteric syrnpoms. A skin biopsy specimen showed subepidermal vesicles and papillary microabscesses infiltrated with rnany neutrophils and a few lymphocytes and eosinophils. Direct immunofluorescent study of the perilesional skin revealed linear deposits of immunoglobulin A along the dermo-epidermal junction. The lesion responded rapidly to oral dapsone and topical steroid therapy.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(5):599-605
The study comprises 13 cases of phenytoin induced drug eruption admitted and treated at Seoul National University Hospital during a 6-year period (1981-1986). The summaries are as follows : 1. The skin lesions were usually pruritic morbilliform maculopapular eruptions on face, trunk, extremites, including palms and soles. However, erythema multiform was observed in one case. 2. Hiistopathologically, the dermis showed perivascular accumulation of mononuclear cells with occasional eosinophils. In some cases, the epidermis showed vacuolar alteration of basaI layer, necrotic keratinocyte with dermal perivascular mononuclear cell infiltrations. 3. The frequencies of the associated features were as follows : fever(61.5%), lymphadenopathy(23.1%), leukocytosis(45.5%), esinophilia(72.7%), and liver function abnormalities(63.6%)

OBJECTIVE: The purposes of this article are to present 5 cases of intracranial meningioma with leptomeningeal dissemination (LD) and investigate the characteristics of this disease. METHODS: We present a retrospective case series of 5 females at our institutions (age ranged 21-72 years, mean 54.6 years) diagnosed with LD of an intracranial meningioma after surgery between 1998 and 2013. A database search revealed 45 cases with LD of meningioma in the English literature. Characteristic features were analyzed and compared. RESULTS: The incidence rate at our institutions of LD of meningioma was 0.9% (5/534). World Health Organization (WHO) grade was distributed as follows: I : 2, II : 2, and III : 1. Time to LD ranged from 2.5 months to 6.9 years; the patient with WHO grade III had the shortest interval to LD. The patient with an intraventricular meningioma (WHO grade II) had the second shortest interval to LD (1.7 years), and simultaneously revealed both LD and extraneuronal metastases. Four of 5 patients showed a disease progression, with the survival ranging from 1 month to 3.8 years after LD. Based on the literature, the initial tumor was an intraventricular meningioma in 9 patients, and their time to LD was shorter on average (mean 1.9 years). Histologically, 26 of 45 (58%) were initially diagnosed with a WHO grade II or III meningioma, and 6 of 19 patients (32%) with WHO grade I revealed malignant transformation. CONCLUSION: This study shows that intraventricular location and histologically aggressive features seem to increase the chance of LD of meningioma.
