1.Mating Type and its Mycological Characteristics of Micrpsporum Gypseum Comples.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1981;19(6):835-846
Granuloma pyogenicum is a benign vascular tumor, usually about 0.5 to 2cm in diameter. It occurs as a single lesion with few exceptions and consists of pedunulated nodule with a dull red or slightly purplish color. We observed a 29-year old man who had multiple satellite recurrences in the scapular region which developed after excision of a single lesion of granuloma pyogenicum. Histapathologic findings showed many newly formed capillaries that had prominant endothelial cells and showed varying degrees of dilation without appearance of epiderrnal collarette sign. The lesions were much improved by X-ray irradiation.

2.Evaluation of Factors for Accurate Diagnosis of Scabies.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1974;12(1):13-20
In order to evaluate the accurate diagnosis of scabies through exatr.inations of all requred. conditions, the author conducted an observation on 769 cases of scabies at the Department of Dermatology, Kyungpook University Hospital from January, 1962 to Octover, 1973, In 1962 the frequency of the disease appeared to be low but it dramatically rose to 20 or 30 times between 1963 and 1966, again showing an increasing tendency from 1971. The ratio of frequency between male and female was 4.2: 1. Seasonal occurrence of scahics was found to be highest in winter. Infectious rate in the family was 83.3% and incubation period vas estimated from 15 days to 2 months. Acarus scabiei or its ova were found in 46.5% of all cases examined and in patients over 16 years of age. Acarus scabiei or ova were chiefly found in vesicles of the finger web but the ova were also found in the subungual fold of the finger, which is an important site of examination.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1975;13(3):237-241
A case of acquired lymphangioma was reported and the literature was reviewed. The patient was 28 yeara old pregnant woman at 7 months gestation who develo- ped multiple white-gray tense vesicles measuring 2-4mm in diameter on bilateral major labia following lymphedema of the lower extremities due to tubercuIous inguinal lymphadenitis.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1975;13(3):193-197
A case of sporotrichosis, developed on left upper eyelid in 2 weeks after double eyelid operation, was presented. Eruptions were distributed along the operation site and similar to pyoderma or keloid. Painless subcutaneous nodule appeared near the lateral angle of eye in 8 months after onset. Sporotrichum schenckii was cultivated from the tissue fluid of the lesion. PAS positive spores were found extra-cellularly and in histiocytes and multi-nucleated giant cells.

In order to appreciate the incidence of scabies, the authors conducted an observation of ll,848 cases of scabies in 152,254 outpatients at Chilgok Catholic Skin Clinic from January 1968 to December 1979 and the following results were obtained; The incidence of scabietic patients was 7.78% among total outpatients and the annual frequency increased progressively from 1972 (3.86%), showed maximal incidence in 1975(12. 35%), and thereafter decreased. In sexual distribution, males predominated over female 1.9: 1. In age distribution, 2nd and 3rd decades occupied 64 of total scabietic patients. The monthly distribution of total scabietic patients was highest in December (10.85%) and lowest in August (4.57%) but no seasonal variation was observed. Over half(54.9%) of 5,273 scabietic patients visited within 2 months after their infection. 1,031 cases(10.27%) of 10, 036 scabietic patients revealed the complications such as infection (5.04%), eczematization (3.37%) and nodule (1.86%).

9.Analysis of Various Renal Functions in the Korean.
Yonsei Medical Journal 1961;2(1):19-26
Various renal functions were studied in 45 young Koreans, 41 males and 4 females. The glomerular filtration rate, the renal plasma and blood flows and the filtration fraction were comparable to those in the occidental. The renal diluting capacity, as judged by the value of positive free water clearance (CH2O), was also comparable to that in the occidental. However, the renal concentrating ability, as judged by values of both the maximum urine osmolality induced by pitressin injection or during dehydration and the maximum negative free water clearance (TcmH2O) during mannitol diuresis, was somewhat low in the Korean. The tubular reabsorptive capacity of glucose (TmG) Was significantly low in the Korean while the tubular secretory capacity of PAH (TmPAH) was not altered. The urea clearance and its ratio with the inulin clearance were generally low. Moreover, the normal osmolar composition of urine indicated that urea is responsible for only 20 to 30%, while salt accounts for nearly 2/3 of the total urine osmolality. In view of the fact that the Korean is chronically maintained on a low or poor protein diet, these results are discussed in the light of this peculiar dietary habit of the Korean. Although the reduction of both the renal concentrating ability and the urea clearance could be reasonably attributed to a low protein intake, the observed low value of Tmc could not be explained thus at present.

10.Flow Cytometric DNA Analysis of Prostate Adenocarcinoma :Correlation with histologic grade and DNA ploidy.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1993;27(1):40-49
Nuclear DNA content of 32 cases of prostate adenocarcinoma diagnosed 1986-1991 was determined by flow cytometry, with the use of paraffin-embedded archival tissue. The present study was done to define the relationship between clinical stage, histopathological grade, and DNA ploidy. Aneuploidy was found in 10(31.3%) cases including 7 cases of near-tetraploidy. Among diploid tumors, 36.4% were localized disease(stage A and B), 13.6% were characterized by invasion outside the prostate(stage C), and 50.0% showed distant metastasis(stage D). Among aneuploid tumors, 10.0% were stage B, 50.0% stage C, and 40.0% stage D. The degree of glandular differentiation was characterized by the Gleason score and the percentage of sampled tissue involved by carcinoma was graded by Dhom's method. Apparent correlation was found between Gleason grade and Dhom grade(P<0.05). All 13 tumors with a Gleason grade I(score of 2 to 5) were diploid. Four of 9 tumors with a Gleason grade II(score of 6 to 7) were aneuploid(near-tetraploidy 33.3%, aneuploidy 11.1%) and 60.0%, of tumors with a Gleason grade III(score of 8 to 10) were aneuploid(near-tetraploidy 40.0%, aneuploidy 20%). The percentage of aneuploid cases increased with advanced clinical stage, but the relationship between aneuploidy versus clinical stage was not significant. However, it can be concluded that DNA ploidy correlates well with Gleason grade(p<0.05), which may have predictive prognostic value for prostate adeno-carcinomas.
