AIM:To establish an HPLC method for determining geniposide and liquiritin in Zhizi Baipi Decoction(Fructus Gardeniae,Cortex Phellodendri Chinensis,Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae). METHODS: A Kromasil C_(18) Column(4.6 mm?250 mm,5 ?m) was used.The mobile phase was methanol-0.5% glacial acetic acid for gradient elution.The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min,?_1=238 nm(detect the geniposide),?_2=276 nm(detect the liquiritin).The column temperature was at 30 ℃. RESULTS: The linear range of geniposide was within 49.1 ?g/mL-147.4 ?g/mL,r=(0.999 8),the recovery was(99.40%)(n=9).The linear range of liquiritin was within 6.1 ?g/mL-18.4 ?g/mL,r=(0.999 9),the recovery was 99.94%(n=9). CONCLUSION: This method has good reproducibility.It can be used for quality control in the production of Zhizi Baipi Decoction.

Objective To determine and compare the contents of free total organic acids in Pinellia ternata and its processed products.Methods Back potentiometric titration was employed to determine the contents of free total organic acids in Pinellia ternata and its processed products.Results The contents of free total organic acids in three batches of Pinellia ternata and its processed products were determined.The contents of free total organic acids in prepared rhizoma pinelliae was higher than that of the crude drug.The recovery was 95.20% and RSD was 1.81%.Conclusion This method were simple,accurate and can be used to estimate the quality of Pinellia ternata and its processed products(prepared with potash alum and juice of rhizima zingiber or with just potash alum).

Objective To study the methods and efficacy of selective or superselective renal artery embolization for renal neoplasms,abcesses and bleeding. Methods Sixty cases of renal carcinomas and 4 cases of abcesses were all treated with selective renal artery embolization before surgery,and 3 cases of advanced renal carcinomas were treated with selective renal artery embolization alone.Embolization materials for carcinoma and abcesses were mainly gelfoam.Nine cases of renal angiomyolipomas,23 of traumatic renal hemorrhages,1 undergoing extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and 2 nephrolithotomy,all of whom had severe hematuria,were treated with selective or superselective renal segment artery embolization.Embolization materials for hemorrhages were mainly self-blood clots and(or) gelfoam,and the materials for angiomyolipoma were pure alcohol and(or) gelfoam. Results The sizes of carcinomas and abcesses were decreased in all of the 60 cases of renal carcinomas and 4 cases of renal abcesses.The edema around the carcinomas and abcesses became obvious,and bleeding was reduced,which were convenient for operation and prolonged survivals.All the renal bleeding were cured with selective or superselective renal artery embolization except for one traumatic case treated by operation for continuous bleeding.All these cases were followed up for 1 month to 18 years.One case had mild atrophy of kidney and in one case IVU didn't develop.All the others were in good condition. Conclusions Selective or superselective renal artery embolization is a safe,effective approach with less complications and most probability to preserve the diseased kidney. Renal artery embolization as a valuable treatment should be studied and widely applied.

Objective To explore the effect of the autoregressive integrated moving average model?nonlinear auto?regressive neural network(ARIMA?NARNN)model on predicting schistosomiasis infection rates of population. Methods The ARIMA model,NARNN model and ARIMA?NARNN model were established based on monthly schistosomiasis infection rates from Janu?ary 2005 to February 2015 in Jiangsu Province,China. The fitting and prediction performances of the three models were com?pared. Results Compared to the ARIMA model and NARNN model,the mean square error(MSE),mean absolute error (MAE)and mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)of the ARIMA?NARNN model were the least with the values of 0.011 1, 0.090 0 and 0.282 4,respectively. Conclusion The ARIMA?NARNN model could effectively fit and predict schistosomiasis in?fection rates of population,which might have a great application value for the prevention and control of schistosomiasis.

Objective To establish a HPLC method for determination of hypoxanthine and xanthine in Syngnathus.Methods A Lichrosper C_(18) Column was used.The mobile phase was methanol-0.1%HAc.Walvelength was 254nm.Results The linear range of hypoxanthine was within 5.91～94.56?g?mL~(-1),r=0.9999,sample recovery rate was 99.22%,RSD=(1.25)%.The linear range of Xanthine was within 2.04~32.64?g?mL~(-1),r=0.9998,sample recovery rate was 98.05%,RSD=1.21%.Conclusion This method has good repeatability and flexibility.It can be used for quality control in production of Syngnathus.

Objective To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2)and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) in MIA PaCa-2 cells blocked by AS-ODN cultured in hypoxia.Methods Heparanase(Hpa) expression of MIA PaCa-2 cells was blocked by AS-ODN and cultured in hypoxia.The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 mRNA and proteins in cell lysate was evaluated by RT-PCR and Western blot respectively,and the enzymatic activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in supernatants were detected by gelatinase activity assay.Results Hypoxia stimulated mRNA and protein expression of MMP-9 in cultured MIA PaCa-2 cells and elevated at 6h,12 h(P ＜0.05)and 24 h(P ＜ 0.01).When Hpa expression was inhibited by AS-ODN,the expression of MMP-9 mRNA and protein as well as the gelatinase activity in supernatant decreased dramatically at 12 h and 24 h,especially at 24h(P ＜0.01),however,no significant difference of MMP-2 expression and gelatinase activity was observed after AS-ODN transfection.(P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion In hypoxia,MMP-9 expression,either mRNA or protein in cultured MIA PaCa-2 cells,increased gradually accompanied with elevated gelatinase activities.When the heparanase expression was inhibited,the MMP-9 mRNA and protein,as well as the gelatinase B activity in supernatant,were decreased dramatically at 12h and 24h,however,no significantly differences of MMP-2 expression and gelatinase A activity were observed after the AS-ODN transfection.

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of organ dose modulation (ODM) on dose reduction and image quality in CT plain scanning of head. Methods: A total of 100 patients who underwent head CT plain scanning were continuously collected. The patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 50 cases in each group. ODM was applied in orbital region during CT plain scanning in experimental group, while CT plain scanning of head was performed in control group, and the parameters of scanning remained unchanged in both groups. Tube currents on different directions (anterior, posterior, left and right) of the orbital region were recorded, and volume CT dose index (CTDIvol) and dose length product (DLP) were recorded to calculate effective dosage (ED). ROI of the pons and bilateral cerebellar hemispheres were selected for measurement and calculation of objective noise and SNR. The imaging quality was subjectively graded as 1-5 points. Results: In experimental group, the tube current on anterior direction of head CT scanning area was significantly lower than that in control group (t=9.72, P=0.01). There was no statistical difference of CTDIvol, DLP, ED (all P>0.05), nor of objective noise in the pons and bilateral cerebellar hemispheres on posterior cranial fossa level and SNR between the two groups (all P>0.05). Subjective assessment showed all the image quality scores were ≥3 and could meet diagnostic needs in the two groups. No statistical difference of image quality score was found between the two groups (Z=0.25, P=0.31). Conclusion: During CT plain scanning of head, the application of ODM can reduce the tube current in the direct direction (anterior), thereby reduce the radiation dose in the orbital region and obtain image quality that can meet diagnostic requirements, meanwhile protect the sensitive organs.

Objective To study the effects of light at different intensities and an enriched environment (EE) on rats' level of voluntary exercise,and to explore the resulting benefits.Methods Thirty male SpragueDawley rats were tested successively under 4 different experimental conditions:EE + strong light,EE + dim light,open-field environment (OFE)+ strong light and OFE + dim light.Each rat's path in the different conditions was recorded using an automated tracking system.Distance moved (m),velocity (m/s),mobile duration (s),mobile frequency,moving duration (s) and moving frequency were recorded over a one-hour period. ResultsThe EE rats were significantly more active than the OFE rats in both strong and dim light.All rats were more mobile under dim light than under strong light.Conclusion Environment and light intensity are independent factors affecting rats' voluntary exercise levels,and they can exert their influence in synergy.

The results showed that compared with the normal group , the serum levels of transaminase ( ALT , AST ) and endotoxin of the model group were higher ( P < 0 . 01 ); and the degree of liver pathology injury was significantly increased; the TLR4 and NF-кB expression were increased (P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, the serum levels of transaminase (ALT, AST) and endotoxin of the experimental group were lower (P < 0.01), the degree of liver pathology injury was significantly lighter; the TLR4 and NF-кB expression were significantly lower (P < 0.01). It was concluded that the WYJDHY granules has a good role in the prevention and treatment of liver injury of rat model of hepatic failure IETM through the downregulation of liver expression of TLR4 and NF-кB in rat liver tissues , reducing serum levels of endotoxin , which may be one of the mecha-nisms on hepatic failure treatment .
