The incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries among female ballet dancers is much lower than among female soccer players, there is currently little research examining the landing error scoring system (LESS) of female ballet dancers and female soccer players. The purpose of this study was to investigate the LESS during drop vertical jump on ACL injury risk factors in female ballet dancers and female soccer players. Thirteen professional female ballet dancers and elite female soccer players participated in the study. Independent sample t-test was used to compare the LESS score between the groups with Bonferroni collection. The elite female soccer player group showed significantly higher stance width-wide, foot position-toe out, symmetric initial foot contact, overall impression and total LESS score than those of the professional ballet dancers.

BACKGROUND: We identified virulence genes in uropathogenic E. coli isolates and studied the association between virulence gene and clinical characteristics in order to predict the severity and recurrency. METHODS: 39 Escherichia coli strains from patients with urinary tract infection were clinically and genotypically characterized. The strains were examined genotypically by using the multiplex polymerase chain reaction for presence of 5 urovirulence genes : pyelonephritis-associated pili(pap), S. fimbriae(sfa), afimbrial adhesin(afa), cytotoxic necrotizing factor (cnf), and alpha-hemolysin(hly). The patient's clinical characteristics were determined retrospectively. RESULTS: 17 pap(+), 4 sfa(+), 7 afa(+), 6 cnf(+), and 8 hly(+) strains were identified. And there were 10 genotypes. Among them, genotype pap(+)sfa(-)afa(-)cnf(-) hly(-) was most dominant(36%). But no urovirulence gene was detected in 12 strains(31%). When the data was analyzed, it was apparent that an association among various urovirulence genes exists. sfa gene was frequently associated with cnf gene(p < 0.001). And afa gene was associated cnf and hly gene(p= 0.026, <0.001). An association between cnf gene and hly gene was observed(p=0.002). Positive rates of virulence genes were not different between male and female. In infancy, pap(-)sfa(-)afa(+)cnf(+)hly(+) genotype was dominant. In 2-15 years old age group, pap(-) sfa(-)afa(-)cnf(-)hly(-) genotype was dominant. And in 16- 40 years old age group, pap(+)sfa(-)afa(-)cnf(-)hly(-) was dominant. So, some virulence genotype might be associated with specific age group. Presence of virulence gene or specific genotype was not different among diseases(acute pyelonephritis, cystitis, asymptomatic bacteriuria). So, virulence genes were not associated with severity of urinary tract infection. Virulence genes were not associated with susceptibility of recurrent infection. In neurogenic bladder patients, there were significantly more sfa(+) strains (p=0.019). And all isolates of neurogenic bladder patients were genotype pap(+)sfa(+)afa(-)cnf(+)hly(-)(p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: In this study, We found which genotype is most dominant in uropathogenic Escherichia coli, and that virulence genes do not suggest severity or recurrency of urinary tract infection. In neurogenic bladder patients, some virulence genes were more prevalent.

Malignant tumors of the appendix are rare and are histologically similar to those arising elsewhere in theintestines. The frequency of specific tumor types and the clinical presentation of symptomatic tumors are, however, significantly different. Before surgery, correct diagnosis of a malignant appendiceal tumor is rare; mosttumors are diagnosed by a pathologist while examining an appendectomy specimen. With the advent of high resolutionimaging modalities (ultrasound and helical CT), malignant tumors of the appendix may be more accurately diagnosed;this report describes the imaging findings of malignant appendiceal tumors.

PURPOSE: To describe the usefulness of small bowel enteroclysis using a hemodialysis blood pump. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Over a 16 month period, 135 double contrast small bowel enteroclysis examinations were performed in132 patients using a hemodialysis blood pump. Following intubation of the proximal jejunum, barium at a dilutionof 50% and 0.5% methylcellulose were infused at a constant rate using a hemodialysis blood pump and multiple spotfilms of the small intestine were obtained. Success rate, quality of radiographs, positive findings, fluoroscopitime and complications were evaluated. RESULTS: Only two of 135 examinations (1.5%) failed due to lack ofcooperation by the patient. Rates of good distensability were 97.6% in the proximal portion, 91.2% in the minportion and 52% in the distal portion and rates of good transparency were 96%, 84% and 56% respectively.Transparency and distensability of the small intestine were better in proximal than distal small bowel. Theradiographs showed positive findings in 25% of cases. The mean fluoroscopic time was 21 min, 10 sec(8min,22sec-57min, 30sec). No major complication was found during or after exam ination. CONCLUSION: It spite of thelong fluoroscopic time and invasiveness, double contrast small bowel enteroclysis is useful for the evaluation ofsmall bowel disease. The infusion of barium and methylcellulose using a hemodialysis blood pump give radiographsof good quality.

The aim of this study was to analyze in depth the standardized Clinical dental hygiene curriculum of the Fones School in the United States. We investigated the clinical dental hygiene curriculum in 2015~2016 including title, credit, hours, contents, goals, competencies, and evaluation. We obtained the course syllabus and data related to each subject, for each grade, from the professors and students at the university. The goals and competencies, of the clinical dental hygiene program, which were based on the goals of the Fones School and the mission of the University of Bridgeport, were developed in accordance with the dental hygienist practice standards proposed by the American Dental Hygienists Association. The curriculum consisted of theory to teach proper dental hygiene care procedures and incorporated practical exercises that modeled an actual clinical setting. The students had to document the procedures performed for each client/patient and improve their clinical competency through discussion with the professors. Dental hygiene care should be provided for children, adolescents, adults, elderly, and patients, which includes patients with moderate or severe periodontal status. Students were evaluated by a paper test or case study presentation and their clinical evaluation was based on their clinical competency. In particular, professors evaluated students on a rotational basis, so they could evaluate the level of achievement of clinical competency of all students and find ways to improve any weaknesses. Therefore, the current study suggested that clinical dental hygiene program in Korea could be improved if based on the curriculum of Fones School in the United States.

A central venous port catheter is widely used to administer fluids, chemotherapeutic agents, and parenteral nutrition; however, similar to other invasive procedures, it has numerous potential complications. Among them, distal migration of a fractured central venous port catheter is a rare complication. A 66-year-old man had a central venous port catheter implanted into the right subclavian vein for adjuvant stomach cancer chemotherapy and presented with an ulceration at the chemoport insertion site. While removing the port catheter, it fractured and the distal tip and migrated and impacted the annulus of the right atrium. The impacted port catheter was successfully removed through a femoral vein approach using a radiofrequency ablation catheter and a multi snare.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1999;41(4):665-668
PURPOSE: To compare magnetization transfer ratios (MTR) among various cerebral edemas with different pathophysiologic processes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cerebral edemas seen on MR images in 45 patients were classified as one of three types: vasogenic (n=22; tumor[n=9], contusion[n=3], hemangioma[n=4], hemorrhage[n=4], others[2]); cytotoxic (n=18; all acute infarction), and interstitial edema (n=5). In all cases, both T2-weighted images with and without magnetization transfer were obtained using off-set pulses of 600Hz. MTRs in each cerebral edema were measured and compared. RESULTS: The mean MTRs of vasogenic edema, cytotoxic edema and interstitial edema were 22 +/- 5%, 26 +/- 4 % and 19 +/- 2%, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference among the three types (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: Mean MTR was highest in cytotoxic edema and lowest in interstitial edema, but the differences were not significant.

Primary malignant lymphoma of the uterine cervix is very rare. Lymphomas account for 3.5% of all malignant tumors in the females. Approximately, 25% of all malignant lymphomas arise from extranodal sites, most frequently from gastrointestinal tract and skin. Although the incidence of systemic non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and extranodal NHL has increased in recent decades, only 1 to 1.5% arises from female genital tract. Primary pelvic sites include ovary, which is the most common site, uterine corpus, cervix, vagina, and vulva. Primary cervical lymphomas account for 0.12~0.6% of all extranodal lymphomas. However, there is still no consensus on the management of cervical lymphomas due to low incidence of the disease and limited experience in the literature. We experienced two cases of primary malignant lymphoma of the uterine cervix. A 41-year-old woman, Ann Arbor stage IE, was treated with laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy and both salpingo-oophorectomy and 4 cycles chemotherapy. A second case was a 73-year-old postmenopausal woman, Ann Arbor stage III, received five courses chemotherapy without any surgery. In this article, two cases of uterine cervical lymphoma are presented with a review of the available literature.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1998;39(2):379-378
Ischemic bowel disease is one of the common causes of acute abdomen, which results from insufficient bloodflow to the small bowel and colon caused by arterial or venous occlusion or mesenteric vasoconstriction. Earlydiagnosis by clinical, laboratory, and radiologic findings is often difficult and delay in adequate therapyresults in substantial morbidity and mortality. CT is known to be useful for the evaluation of patients withsuspected bowel ischemia or infarction. This study describes the spectrum of helical CT findings in acute andchronic mesenteric ischemia due to various causes, and explains the value of CT findings for specific diagnosis.
