Korean Journal of Pathology 1986;20(4):475-483
Electron microscopic study of two malignant fibrous histiocytomas confirmed the presence of previously described tumor cells in the literature. In addition, there existed intermediate cells with morphologic features of both myofibroblasts and histiocytes, or both histiocytes and smooth muscle cells. Our result supported the idea that malignant fibrous histiocytoma may be derived from the undifferentiated mesenchymal cells that differentiate primarily along a fibroblastic and histiocytic cells.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1985;19(4):438-441
Breast carcinoma has been infrequently reported in children. About 25 cases have been reported in world literatures since first description in 1913, by Bryan. We present a case of juvenile breast carcinoma in a 17 months old girl with brief review of literatures. Grossly, the submitted specimen is grayish white and measured by 1.3x1.0x0.8 cm in size. It is not encapsulated and its cut surfaces are homogeneous. Microscopic examination showed a neoplastic proliferation of duct cells forming mainly glandular spaces with focal papillary pattern, solid sheets or cribriform pattern. The glandular spaces were filled with collections of PAS-positive eosinophilic secretory materials. The individual cell varied from columnar to polygonal and showed moderate hyperchromatism and variation of nuclear size. Mitoses and necrosis are not found. Tumor cell invasion into the stroma was found.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1996;30(5):463-465
The serous papillary cystadenoma of low malignant potential in the paratesticular tissue is a tumor characterized by its resemblance to ovarian serous papillary tumor of low malignant potential. Several possible origins have been proposed but it is thought to originate from the Mullerian-type epithelium just like ovarian serous tumor of low grade malignancy. Because of the rarity of this tumor, the natural history and treatment have not been established. Herein we report on a serous papillary cystadenoma arising in the paratesticular tissue of a 12 year old . To our knowledge, this is the first reported case in the Korean literature. The size of this cystic tumor in this patient was 0.9x0.9x0.8 cm and had a sponge-like cut surface. The papillary structure was lined by both ciliated and nonciliated secretory cells, the same cellular structure as the salpinx. Areas with just a few mitoses and stratification of epithelial cells were noted, but invasion into the paratesticular tissue was absent, suggesting borderline malignancy. He is doing well after 5 months follow up. Prognosis of this scrotal tumor is thought to be better than the ovarian tumor of similar histology due to a better possibility of early detection.

Although embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma has been frequently reported in genitourinary tract, head and neck, embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the biliary tree is an extremely rarte. It must be considered in differential diagnosis of jaundice in childhood. About 35 cases have been reported in world literatures, since first description on 1875, by Moxon and Wilks. We present a case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the biliary tree in a 25 months old boy with brief review of literatures. Since chief complaints of this case were jaundice and loss of appetite, the first clinical diagnosis was infectious hepatitis. On ultrasound examination, there is a space occupying lesion in right lobe of liver and it was diagnosed as hepatoma. Choledochoduodenostomy with biopsy was done. The operation revealed dilated common bile dut and both hepatic ducts which were filled with light brown jelly like materials and diagnosed as embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma on frozen and permanent senions. In gross and histologic characteristics, this tumor resembles embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma(sarcoma botryoides) in other locations. In spite of chemo-and radiotherapy after operation, the boy was died.

Korean Circulation Journal 1990;20(1):141-147
Adenosine deaminase(ADA) is an enzyme capable of catalysing the pathway from adenosine to inosine. Previous studies have shown that this enzyme may be useful in recognition of a tubeculous etiology of pleural, peritoneal, or meningeal effusions. ADA activity was studied in 42 patients with large amount of pericardial effusion. Patients were subdivided into the following four group : (A) 15 cases of tuberculous effusions : (B) 4 with pyogenic effusions : (C) 15 with idiopathic effusions : (D) 9 with malignant effusions. The results were as follows ; 1) The mean ADA activities assessed in pericardial effusions were 134.0+/-77.6U/L in group A : 93.8+/-43.8 in group B : 38.3+/-23.2 in group C : 27.3+/-20.8 in group D. Comparing the level achieved in group A with all others, the difference is significant at the P<0.001 level. 2) The mean ADA activities assessed in sera were 50.7+/-57.2 U/L in group A : 63.5+/-24.1 in group B : 25.9+/-12.0 in group C : 14.0+/-7.5 in group D. Comparing the level achieved in group A with all others, there is no significant difference. 3) Specificity(0.87) and sensitivity(0.93) of the test for the differential diagnosis of patients with tuberculous effusion from those with idiopathic effusion is high, when a value of more than 50 U/L is considered. In conclusion, the assessment of ADA in pericardial effusions is of great value in the diagnosis of tuberculous pericarditis.

6.University Students' Health Behavior, Depression, and Ego-resilience.
Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2016;25(2):113-122
PURPOSE: The objectives of the study were to examine university students' health behavior, depression, and ego-resilience in order to understand the relationship between these variables, and to identify factors influencing ego-resilience. METHODS: Data were collected from a sample of 302 students attending G University. The data collection period was from October 28, 2015 to December 21, 2015. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with the SPSS Statistics version 23 Program. RESULTS: The number of close friends was weakly correlated with depression and ego-resilience: specifically, the number of close friends had a weak negative correlation with depression, and a weak positive correlation with ego-resilience. Factors significantly influencing the students' ego-resilience were depression, type of residence, frequency of exercise, and gender, with a total explanatory power of 18%. CONCLUSION: These findings indicate that intervention programs to improve ego-resilience should be developed. Research into ego-resilience should be replicated with students from a variety of cultural background and diverse study areas.

7.Effect of College Students' Perceived Stress, Cognitive Response to Stress, and Somatization on Heart Rate Variability
Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 2019;21(3):178-187
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate how college students' perceived stress, cognitive stress, and somatization affect their heart rate variability (HRV). METHODS: This study is a cross-sectional survey research on 191 university students, registered at the G University. The perceived stress scale (PSS) and cognitive stress response scale, were used to assess level of stress. The somatization symptom scale of the Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90), was used to assess level of somatization caused by stress. To assess heart rate variability (HRV), we conducted a five-minute test using a pulse wave analyzer, to analyze short-term HRV. RESULTS: The SCL-90 somatization score had relatively high positive correlation (p<.001) with cognitive stress, but low positive correlation (p<.001) with perceived stress. Cognitive stress response had low negative correlation (p<.001) with 1nSDNN and 1nRMSSD among HRV parameters. Perceived stress was not correlated with HRV. Multiple regression analysis showed that variables of perceived stress, cognitive stress, and somatization symptoms, could not explain HRV. By contrast, one of the HRV indicators, 1nSDNN, was affected by age, gender, and aggressive-hostile thought, the latter being a subscale of the cognitive stress response scale. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that stress evaluation for people in early adulthood will be more effective, if the evaluation examines cognitive stress and heart rate variability.

10.A Case of Monocular Retinal Blot Hemorrhage in a Patient with Raynaud's Phenomenon.
Chan Keum PARK ; Soo Jung LEE ; Jung Min PARK
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2015;56(4):620-626
PURPOSE: To report a case of retinal blot hemorrhage localized to 1 eye accompanied by Raynaud's phenomenon. CASE SUMMARY: A 65-year-old female was referred for vision disorder in the right eye. She had been taking an antihypertensive drug since diagnosed with systemic hypertension 2 years previously. On initial examination, her best corrected visual acuity was 20/25 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye and intraocular pressure was 15 mm Hg in the right eye and 21 mm Hg in the left eye. Fundus examination showed retinal blot hemorrhage across the entire retina and increased retinal vascular tortuosity. No specific finding was found on visual field examination, transthoracic ultrasonography and carotid Doppler ultrasound. The blood test was positive for antinuclear and anticentromere antibodies, thus she was referred to the rheumatologic department. The patient was diagnosed with primary Raynaud's phenomenon because no correlation with other rheumatologic diseases was found. Subsequently, she was scheduled for regular follow-ups with a prescription of circulatory stimulant. Five months later, her best corrected visual acuity was 20/20 in the both eyes and retinal blot hemorrhage in the right eye was significantly decreased based on fundus examination. CONCLUSIONS: In the case of atypical retinal blot hemorrhage without other ophthalmic causes except Raynaud's phenomenon, the change in retinal circulatory autoregulation associated with the mechanism of retinal blot hemorrhage can be presumed. Therefore, a close examination and history taking should be conducted so that Raynaud's phenomenon as a pathological factor is not overlooked.
