BACKGROUND:Light-cured resin is a new kind of material with beautiful color, high strength, wide range of applications, easy-to-use and inexpensive features. Patients are wil ing to accept it because of less or no grinding of the teeth.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of light-cured resin to fil the interdental space between maxil ary anterior teeth.
METHODS:A total of 32 patients aged 21-52 years were enrol ed, 107 teeth with 75 oversized maxil ary spaces, including 15 males and 17 females. One space between bilateral central incisors was found in 14 cases;three spaces between bilateral central incisors, left lateral incisor, and left canine were found in three cases;three spaces between bilateral central incisors, right lateral incisor, and right canine were found in two cases;four spaces between left central incisor, left lateral incisor, left canine, right central incisor, and right lateral incisor were found in three cases;three spaces between bilateral central incisors and lateral incisors were found in six cases;four spaces between left central incisor, left lateral incisor, right central incisor, right lateral incisor, and right canine were found in four cases. Al the oversized maxil ary spaces were fil ed with light-cured resin. Then, crown morphology, adaptation, color, degree of wear and loosening were observed during fol ow-up.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After 3-year fol ow-up, 17 of 32 cases were successful in tooth repair:the crown morphology and tooth adaptation were good, and there was no prosthesis loosening or detachment and discoloration. The tooth space was repaired basical y in another nine cases:the crown morphology and tooth adaptation were not good enough, no prosthesis loosening or detachment was found, but there were some defects at the gingival margin and contact surface of teeth as wel as mild discoloration. Tooth repair failed in the other six cases with worse crown morphology and adaptation, prosthesis loosening or detachment, and severe discoloration, which need to be repaired again.

Objective To study the role and mechanism of A2AR activation in tau hyperphosphorylation after brain injury.Methods SD rats were cultured with no specific pathogen level.SH-SY5Y was cultured.The rats were treated with CGS21680 solution and DMSO and SH-SY5Y respectively.The CGS21680 solution and sb216763, H-89, or Only add ZM241385, the control group plus DMSO, compared with each group tau hyperphosphorylation.Results The phosphorylation level of tau protein in SH-SY5Y cells was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).The phosphorylation level of tau protein in the primary hippocampal neurons of rats was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).The levels of tau protein phosphorylation in group 2 and group 3 were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05).The expression of tau in group 4 and group 5 was statistically significant (P<0.05)There was no significant difference in phosphorylation level between the two groups.Conclusion A2AR activation can activate kinase A and GSK-3β after brain injury, leading to tau hyperphosphorylation.

Objective To find the chemical elements whose contents are abnormal in the soil of the high prevalence areas of birth defects in Shanxi Province. Methods 131 soil samples were collected from the high and low prevalence areas of birth defects respectively in 2005, the contents of 16 elements were determined with inductively coupled plasma (ICP)machine. The data were analyzed with regression and nonparametric tests. Results The total content of elements in the soil of the high prevalence areas was significantly higher than that of the low prevalence area. Compared with the low prevalence area, in a high prevalence area, the content of Mo, As, Pb, Ni, V and Se in soil was abnormal, Mo, As, Ni and Pb showed a significant relationship to the prevalence rate of birth defects, in another high prevalence area, the content of Sn, Se, Mo, Zn, Sr, Pb, Ni, Fe, V, Ca, Cu, Al, Mg and Na was abnormal, Pb, Mg, Ca, Al and Zn showed a significant relationship to the prevalence rate of birth defects. Conclusion Maybe the abnormal content of Mo, As, Ni, Pb, Mg, Ca, Al and Zn in the soil is one of the risk factors for birth defects.

Objective:To explore the predictive role of learning burnout on positive and negative mental in college students.Methods:By convenience sampling method,786 college students were selected.They were as-sessed with the Learning Burnout Scale of Undergraduates (LBUS;including three factors:dejection,improper be-havior and reduced personal accomplishment)to investigate the learning burnout,the Mental Health Continuum Short Form (adult version)(MHC-SF;reflecting positive mental health states:languishing,moderately mentally healthy and flourishing)to investigate positive mental health,and the General Health Questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28;dividing negative mental health levels:pathological one or not)to investigate negative mental health.Results:The total scores and three factors scores of LBUS were negatively correlated with MHC-SF scores (r = -0.48 --0.14,Ps <0.01).The total scores and sub-scores of dejection and improper behavior were positively correlated with GHQ-28 scores (r =0.14 -0.41,Ps <0.01 ).The results of discriminate analysis showed that the learning burnout could predict the positive mental health,the correct prediction rates of three mental health symptoms,lan- guishing,moderately mentally healthy and flourishing were 63.2%,51.2%,and 64.1%,respectively.The total forecast was at a rate of 56.4%,and three factors of learning burnout had the contribution to predict positive psy-chological health.Logistic regression analysis showed that learning burnout of undergraduates could positively pre-dict negative psychological health,the pathological and non-pathological rate of correct prediction were 67.5% and 55.9%,and the total correct prediction rate was 62.0%.Depression could positively predict negative mental health (OR =1.11).Conclusion:Learning burnout could effectively predict both positive and negative mental health in college students.

Objective:To explore the effect of remote ischemic post-conditioning (RIPoC) on oxidation/reduction response, energy metabolism and inlfammatory reaction of ischemic myocardial tissue in rats with ischemic reperfusion (IR) injury.
Methods:IR model was established by 30 min left anterior descending (LAD) artery occlusion followed by 120 min reperfusion, conditioning was defined as 3 cycles of 30 seconds ischemia followed by 30 seconds reperfusion in adult rats. The rats were divided into 5 groups:①ischemic pre-conditioning (IPC) group, the rats received the conditioning prior to IR treatment,②ischemic post-conditioning (IPoC) group, the rats received 30 min LAD occlusion followed by conditioning at the beginning of 120 min reperfusion, ③ remote ischemic post-conditioning(RIPoC) group, the rats received 30 min LAD occlusion, followed by femoral artery conditioning at the beginning of 120 min reperfusion, ④ IR group, ⑤ Sham group. n=8 in each group.Ischemic myocardial tissue was collected at the end of experiment, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was assayed by xanthine oxidase method,malondialdehyde (MDA) content was examined by thiobarbituric acid method, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity was determined by chemistry colorimetric method, adenosine triphosphate(ATP)amount was measured by bioluminescence method;expressions of myocardial stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), mitochondrial function related genes Ndufa2, Ndufa4, Cox4il and Cox7a2 were evaluated by real time quantitative PCR.
Results:In IPC, IPoC and RIPoC groups, the ischemic myocardial tissue had increased SOD activity and ATP amount, decreased MDA content and MPO activity; induced expressions of SDF-1, VEGF, mitochondrial function related genes Ndufa2, Ndufa4, Cox4il and Cox7a2.
Conclusion:RIPoC may increase anti-oxidation/reduction response, protect energy metabolism and reduce inlfammatory reaction in ischemic myocardial tissue, the effect was similar to pre-conditioning and post-conditioningin rats with IR injury.

Purpose:To evaluate the efficacy of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ non small cell lung cancer.Methods:From 1991 to 1996,21 patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ non small cell lung cancer were treated.According to the 1997 UICC Staging System, 3 patients had stage Ⅰb disease, 2 stage Ⅱa,and 16 stage Ⅱb.16 patients were confirmed by histopthology,and 5 cases by cytopathology.18 patients had squamous cell carcinoma,2 adenocarcinoma,and 1 mixed squamous cell and adenocarcinoma.21 patients were treated by 6 Mv X or 18 Mv X, received 56 Gy～70 Gy (total dose), at 2 Gy per day.Chemotherapy: 19 patients were treated by MVP(MMC?VDS?DDP). 2 squamous patients were not treated with chemotherapy.19 patients were treated with chemotherapy after radiotherapy 1～7 weeks,and were treated 1～5 cycles.Results:The overall 5 year survial for all patients was 19%.19 patients have died,13 died of tumor,and because of local failure and metastasis.6 patients died of other causes.Conclusions:Non operative treatment is an effective treatment for non small cell lung cancer.

Objective To explore the application value of DOSE index score in the peitients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.Methods 122 cases of plateau COPD patients were followed up for 12 months,and we recorded and analyzed the patient's health and life.We also recorde FEV 1 and DOSE scores of the patients with COPD,and record the COPD risk events,including the number of respiratory failure and death,and the times of hospitalization,total such confinement,outpatient expenses,hospitalization expenses,mMRC,and scored in the number of exacerbations,etc.Results The DOSE index score was negatively correlated with FEV1％ pred (r=0.73,P ＜ 0.05) for 122 COPD patients,and were positively correlated with mMRC (r=085,P ＜ 0.01),the annual number of exacerbations (r=0.71,P ＜ 0.01),respiratory failure (r=0.65,P ＜ 0.01),heart failure (r=0.50,P ＜ 0.01),number of outpatient service (r=0.12,P＜0.01),hospitalization time (r=0.70,P＜0.01),the totalsuchconfinement (r=0.66,P＜0.01),outpatient expenses (r=0.13,P＞ 0.13),hospitalization expenses (r=0.65,P＜0.01).ROC curve was used to analyzed the cut-off point and curve area of COPD DOSE index.Conclusion The DOSE index is a simple COPD assessment tools,and is closely related to the prognosis of patients and health.

Objective To measure the outcomes of the cochlear implantation for patients with Warrensburg syndrome in comparison with non-syndromic patients with sensorineural hearing loss. Methods 16 of 1 300 Waardenburg syndrome patients who received cochlear implants at PUMC hospital were reviewed in this papers. The authors will discuss the effects between Warrensburg syndrome and non- syndromic patients with sensorineural hearing loss by means of the Parents Evaluation of Aural-Oral Performance of Children (PEACH). Results There were no statistical difference in quiet, in noise, in overall results and in conversation on the phone between Warrensburg syndrome and non-syndromic patients. There was statistical difference between in quiet and in noise in every group. Conclusion The auditory perception and speech recognition between Warrensburg syndrome and non-syndromic patients with sensorineural hearing loss is same, and the results in quiet is better than that in noise.
