Journal of Environment and Health 1989;0(06):-
Objective To find the chemical elements whose contents are abnormal in the soil of the high prevalence areas of birth defects in Shanxi Province. Methods 131 soil samples were collected from the high and low prevalence areas of birth defects respectively in 2005, the contents of 16 elements were determined with inductively coupled plasma (ICP)machine. The data were analyzed with regression and nonparametric tests. Results The total content of elements in the soil of the high prevalence areas was significantly higher than that of the low prevalence area. Compared with the low prevalence area, in a high prevalence area, the content of Mo, As, Pb, Ni, V and Se in soil was abnormal, Mo, As, Ni and Pb showed a significant relationship to the prevalence rate of birth defects, in another high prevalence area, the content of Sn, Se, Mo, Zn, Sr, Pb, Ni, Fe, V, Ca, Cu, Al, Mg and Na was abnormal, Pb, Mg, Ca, Al and Zn showed a significant relationship to the prevalence rate of birth defects. Conclusion Maybe the abnormal content of Mo, As, Ni, Pb, Mg, Ca, Al and Zn in the soil is one of the risk factors for birth defects.

Purpose:To evaluate the efficacy of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ non small cell lung cancer. Methods:From 1991 to 1996,21 patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ non small cell lung cancer were treated.According to the 1997 UICC Staging System, 3 patients had stage Ⅰb disease, 2 stage Ⅱa,and 16 stage Ⅱb.16 patients were confirmed by histopthology, and 5 cases by cytopathology.18 patients had squamous cell carcinoma,2 adenocarcinoma, and 1 mixed squamous cell and adenocarcinoma.21 patients were treated by 6 Mv X or 18 Mv X, received 56 Gy~70 Gy (total dose), at 2 Gy per day.Chemotherapy: 19 patients were treated by MVP(MMC?VDS?DDP). 2 squamous patients were not treated with chemotherapy.19 patients were treated with chemotherapy after radiotherapy 1~7 weeks, and were treated 1~5 cycles. Results:The overall 5 year survial for all patients was 19%.19 patients have died,13 died of tumor, and because of local failure and metastasis.6 patients died of other causes. Conclusions:Non operative treatment is an effective treatment for non small cell lung cancer.

Object To compare the HPLC fingerprints of Flos Chrysanthemi from different habitats Methods With Inertsil C 18 column, gradient elute was performed by mobil phase containing acetonitrile water (2% tetrahydrofuran, 0 1% trifluoracetic acid) The flow rate was 1 mL/min and column temperature 30 ℃ Different breeds of Flos Chrysanthemi from various producing areas and other species from the same genus were comparatively analyzed Results It is discovered that the HPLC fingerprints from different breeds of Flos Chrysanthemi have a strong comparability They have 16 mutual peaks and among them four are from the ten strongest peaks, two from the ten strongest peaks or stronger peaks The fingerprint data reflect the affiliation on producing area and genetic relationship of differnt breeds of Flos Chrysanthemi, and also characteristic features of each breed Conclusion This method can be used to establish the HPLC fingerprints of different breeds produced in different areas

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2009;34(1):63-66
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of yizhi jiannao granule concentration fluid (YCF) on the expression of peptidyl-prolyl-cis-trans isomerase A (Pin1) and high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) mRNA in the hippocampus of senescence accelerated mice Senile-Prone8(SAMP8).
METHODS:
Six-month old SAMP8 mice were randomly divided into a YCF group and a model group. Six-month old SAMP8 mice were served as a normal control group. The YCF group was ravaged, while the model group and the normal control group were gavaged with double-distilled water for 8 weeks. The hippocampus was taken out for examination. The expression of Pin1 and HMGB1 mRNA was measured by RT-PCR.
RESULTS:
In the YCF group, the level of Pin1 mRNA increased, and the level of HMGB1 mRNA decreased compared with that of the model group.
CONCLUSION
Yizhi jiannao granules can prevent Alzheimer's disease by increasing the Pin1 level and decreasing the HMGB1 level.

BACKGROUND: Because of the specificity and complexity of hepatic portal, carcinoma of bile duct of the hepatic portal is a difficulty in the surgical treatment. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the safety and feasibility of simultaneous pancreaticoduodenectomy and liver transplantation for the end-stage hilar cholangiocarcinoma. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Pathology demonstrated a middle or low differentiation of hilar cholangiocarcinoma, and left, right hepatic duct, together with lobus quadratus were invaded. The tumor metastasized to hilar and posterior pancreatic lymphonodes, without involving the head of pancreas, duodenum and stomach. The function of transplanted liver recovered smoothly, and the endocrine and exocrine functions of pancreas were kept well. CA19-9 dropped to the normal levels. The patient recovered and discharged at 1 month after surgery, and still survived after one year follow up. These suggest that simultaneous pancreaticoduodenectomy and liver transplantation as a treatment of hilar cholangiocarcinoma are safe and feasible.

Parthenogenetic embryonic stem cells (pESCs) derived from bi-maternal genomes do not have competency of tetraploid complementation, due to lacking of paternal imprinting genes. To make pESCs possess fully development potentials and similar pluripotency to zygote-derived ESCs, we knocked out one allelic gene of the two essential maternal imprinting genes (H19 and IG) in their differentially methylated regions (DMR) via CRISPR/Cas9 system and obtained double knock out (DKO) pESCs. Maternal pESCs had similar morphology, expression levels of pluripotent makers and in vitro neural differentiation potentials to zygotes-derived ESCs. Besides that, DKO pESCs could contribute to full-term fetuses through tetraploid complementation, proving that they held fully development potentials. Derivation of DKO pESCs provided a type of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) matched pluripotent stem cells, which would benefit research in regenerative medicine.
