Objective To explore the relationship between the level of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP),CRP 1059G/C gene polymorphism and cerebral infarction(CI).Methods The CRP 1059G/C genotype and allele frequencies were assayed by polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragments length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in 105 patients with CI and 121 controls. The level of serum hs-CRP was detected by immune-turbidimetry.The relationship between the condition of CI patients, the level of serum hs-CRP and CRP 1059G/C genotype and allele frequencies were anaysed. Results Compared to the control group, the CRP 1059G/G genotype and G allele frequencies in CI group were statistically higher,G/C+C/C genotypes and C allele frequencies were statistically lower(all P

AIM: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of combined wavefront - guided and aspheric laser in situ keratomileusis ( LASIK ) to correct myopia and myopic astigmatism.
METHODS: Prospective study. Forty-five patients ( 62 eyes ) with myopia and myopic astigmatism were randomly dividied into two groups:the wavefront-guided and aspheric LASIK group and the wavefront- guided LASIK group. Safety, efficacy, predictability, ocular higher order aberrations(HOAs), and contrast sensitivity under mesopic condition were compared at 6mo postoperatively.
RESULTS: Both platforms had equal safety, efficacy and predictability. At 6mo after operation, total HOAs, spherical aberration and coma increased in both groups(P<0. 01 ). The changes of total HOAs and spherical aberration in wavefront-guided and aspheric group were significantly less than those in wavefront-guided group ( P<0.05 ) , while the change of coma between two groups was not statistically significant ( P = 0. 657 ). Contrast sensitivity in the wavefront-guided and aspheric group recovered to preoperative levels under mesopic conditions at all spatial frequencies ( P > 0. 05 ), while contrast sensitivity in the wavefront-guided group recovered to preoperative levels at all spatial frequencies(P>0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Wavefront-guided and aspheric LASIK induced less HOAs and associated with better mesopic contrast sensitivity compared with wavefront - guided LASIK.

To establish a convenient and rapid method for identification of Pseudostellariae Radix by molecular identification, the rDNA-ITS sequences of Pseudostella riaheterophylla and its adulterants had been aligned to find out specific fragment. The specific primers against the fragment were designed and the PCR amplification conditions were optimized. The fluorescence reaction of the PCR products colored by 100 x SYBR Green I was observed under UV. The concentration of reaction buffer included 5.5 μL DNA Taq polymerase premix, 10 pmol Tzs-2F and 10 pmol Tzs-2R, 20-80 ng template DNA, and plus double sterile distilled water to 25 μL. The PCR thermal profile was as follows: predenaturation at 95 degrees C for 1 min, followed by 30 cycles of denaturation at 95 degrees C for 5 seconds, primer annealing and extension at 56 degrees C for 15 seconds, then it was extension at 72 degrees C for 30 seconds. The fluorescence reaction of Pseudostellariae Radix showed green fluorescence, while adulterants had not. Extraction, amplification DNA and all steps of molecular identification could be completed successfully in 40 minutes. The approach could amplify DNA template of Pseudostellariae Radix specificity, and its product with 1 μL 100 x SYBR Green I could engender green fluorescence under UV. The method was simple and accurate, so it could be used for identification of Chinese traditional medicine.

To establish a molecular identification method for Bletillae Rhizoma, this paper extracted genome DNA from Bletillae Rhizoma and its adulterants. The sequences of rDNA ITS2 were sequenced after amplifying. Then multiple alignments of ITS2 were constructed phylogenetic tree with Neighbor Joining by MEGA 5. 1 and found out SNPs loci. The result showed that rDNA ITS2 region could identify Bletillae Rhizoma and its adulterants. There existed the SNPs loci, which could identify Bletilla striata and B. ochracea. Furthermore, we designed specific primers against the SNPs loci of B. striata and B. ochracea, then screened primers and optimized the PCR amplification conditions. Finally, the DNA of B. striata and B. ochracea were specifically amplified by BJ59-412F, BJ59-412R and HHBJ-225R. The length of amplification products were respectively about 350 bp and 520 bp that were effectively identified of B. striata and B. ochracea. While, the adulterants of Bletillae Rhizoma were no-reaction occurring. To sum up, the amplification conditions of the primers can identify B. striata, B. ochracea and their adulterants successfully at the same time. This method was easy, time-saving, and reliable, which can be used as a rapid method for molecular identification of Bletillae Rhizoma.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2016;32(9):789-793
Objective To compare the effect of radionuclide bone imaging and MRI in locating responsible vertebrae after osteoporotic vertebral compressive fractures (OVCF).Methods A retrospective analysis was made on 25 patients with OVCF treated by percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP)from May 2015 to December 2015.There were 4 males and 21 females,at age range of 63-87 years [(73.3 ±6.16)years].The fractured vertebrae included 2 T4,3 T5,2 T6,2 T7,5 T8,3 T9,3 T10,7 T11,9 T12,11 L1,10 L2,2 L3,5 L4 and 1 L5.Cervical imaging examinations (X-ray,bone mineral density,MRI,radionuclide bone imaging) were performed on admission.Oswestry disability index (ODI) and visual analogue scale (VAS) were estimated before operation and 1 d after operation. Results of MRI and radionuclide bone imaging were compared. Results A total of 64 vertebrae were included in our study.Thirty-six vertebrae were recognized as fresh OVCFs by MRI,and 40 by radionuclide bone imaging.Kappa-test indicated the results of the examination methods were statistically significant (P <0.05).Specificity (96.6%) and accuracy (98.4%) of MRI were higher than radionuclide bone imaging bone scan (82.8%,92.2%).Conclusions Radionuclide bone imaging has a high consistency with MRI in locating responsible vertebrae after OVCF,but MRI is associated with higher specificity and accuracy. In exceptional cases, radionuclide bone imaging can partly replace MRI as a way to locate OVCF.

Neurology Asia 2013;18(2):195-202
Cognitive impairment is a common complication of diabetes. Hippocampus plays an important role
in cognitive function. In hyperglycemia, synaptophysin, a crucial synaptic vesicle membrane protein
in hippocampus neuron is found to be down-regulated. Recent evidences have shown that angiotensin
IV can facilitate memory acquisition and recovery. However, whether it can also improve cognitive
functions of diabetic rats with cognitive disorder, and the possible mechanisms are uncertain. Hence,
the objectives of this study. Forty fi ve Sprague Dawley male rats were randomly divided into three
groups: Control, diabetic group and diabetes with angiotensin IV treatment group. The cognitive
functions, mainly learning and memory of the rats were evaluated using Morris water maze task. The
synapses ultrastructure, relative mRNA concentrations and protein expression levels of synaptophysin
in hippocampus CA1 area were estimated using transmission electron microscope, RT-PCR,
immunohistochemistry and western blotting, respectively. Our study showed that in the diabetic rats with
angiotensin IV treatment, the cognitive impairment as measured by Morris water maze task improved,
the ultrastructure of synapses in hippocampus reversed, the relative mRNA concentrations and protein
levels of synaptophysin in hippocampus signifi cantly increased, when compared with diabetic rats.
We conclude that angiotensin IV plays an important role in improving cognitive function of diabetic
rats. The possible mechanisms are up-regulating the expression of synaptophysin and normalizing the
ultrastructure of synapses in hippocampus.
