Objective To evaluate short-term fowllow-up results of castable ceramic-IPS Empress Ⅱ onlays in restoring severe tooth defects with low occlusogingival dimension from clinical aspects.Methods 41 units of the onlay were fabricated and applied in 37 patients,who were divided into experimental group and control group.The experimental group were restored with IPS EmpressⅡcastable ceramic onlay which was bonded by a dual-cure adhesive system.The control group were restored with mental onlay which was bonded by glass-ionomer cements.All these cases were followed at 6 and 12 months after cementation of the restorations.Metewands were established to evaluate its clinical effects.Results Onlay made from IPS Empress Ⅱ castable ceramic demonstrated natural and esthetical appearance.In addition,proximal contact,retention and marginal fit of the restorations were good.No gingivitis was found.Conclusion The reliability of onlay made from IPS Empress Ⅱ castable ceramic is greatly improved due to the strengthening effects of the lithium disilicate structures.In addition,the better esthetics compared to resin filling technique makes it a comparatively ideal all-ceramic system for onlays.

Objective To understand and analyze the infection status of human parasites in Nanchang City, so as to offer a scientific basis for control of parasitic disease. Methods In 2014, a survey was performed according to the scheme of The 3rd National Survey of Principal Human Parasites. Intestinal parasites were surveyed among the residents in Jinxian County and Anyi County, Qingyunpu District and Qingshanhu District in Nanchang City, including the soil-transmitted nematodes (Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura and hookworm), Enterobius vermicularis, tapeworm and intestinal protozoa. Clonorchis sinensis was surveyed among the residents in Qingyunpu District and Qingshanhu District. Toxoplasma gondii was surveyed among the residents in two rural areas (Nanchang County and Xinjian County) and two urban areas (Donghu District and Xihu District). The ovums of the soil-transmitted nematodes, Clonorchis sinensis , tapeworm and other helminths were examined by the Kato-Katz, while Enterobius vermicularis among children was examined by cellophane anal swab, trophozoites and cysts of intestinal protozoa by saline smearing and iodine smearing , and IgG antibodies of Toxoplasma gondii by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results Intestinal parasites were surveyed among 2424 residents in the whole city, in which 2414 residents were tested for the infection of soil-transmitted nematodes and tapeworm;1875 residents were tested for intestinal protozoa infection;74 children were tested for eggs of Enterobius vermicularis; 539 residents were tested for Clonorchis sinensis; and 2400 residents were tested for Toxoplasma gondii. Six kinds of intestinal parasites were found citywide, with a total infection rate of 9.49% (230/2424). The infection rate of soil-transmitted nematodes was 8 . 70% ( 210/2414 ) , in which the infection rate of Ascaris lumbricoides was 0.04% (1/2414), the rate of Trichuris trichiura was 0.91% (22/2414), and of hookworm was 7.83%(189/2414). The infection rate among 3 - 6 years old children of Enterobius vermicularis was 22.97% ( 17/74 ) . Tapeworm and Clonorchis sinensis were not found . The infection rate of intestinal protozoa was 0.21%(4/1875). The positive rate of Toxoplasma gondii's IgG antibody was 5.17% (124/2400). Conclusions In Nanchang City, the infection rate of soil-transmitted nematodes (Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura) and intestinal protozoa was lower. However, the infection rates of hookworm, Toxoplasma gondii and Enterobius vermicularis among 3 - 6 years old children are increasing in local areas. That should be the focus in prevention and control of parasitic disease in the future.

Objective To investigate clinical characteristics of relapsing polychondritis(RP)and to improve early recognition for it.Methods Clinical and laboratory data of 56 patients with RP were analyzed retrospectively.Results Ratio of number of male patients to female ones was 1.2.Age at onset was(46?11)years(ranging from 27 to 71)and average interval between onset and diagnosis was(21? 35)months,(8?6),(16?31)and(29?37)months for patients initial onset with auricle,respiratory tract and joints involved,respectively.Site involved included airway in 40 patients(71.4%),auricle in 32 (57.1%),joints in 32(57.1%),eyes in 27(48.2%),nasal chondritis in 25(44.6%)and inner ear in 13(23.2%).At initial stage of the course,17 patients were misdiagnosed as respiratory infection (30.4%),nine as perichondritis(16.1%),six as pulmonary tuberculosis(10.7%),five as rheumatoid arthritis(8.9%).Seven of 40 patients with airway involvement received metallic stents for their tracheobronchial stenosis.Four patients whose condition never improved after regular therapy all had respiratory involvement.Conclusions Patients of RP with initial onset at non-auricle,non-nasal sites tended to be misdiagnosed.Prevalence of airway involvement was not so low with a poor prognosis in patients of RP.

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of malaria and to discover the regularity of malaria outbreaks in Nanchang City from 1950 to 2015, so as to provide a scientific basis for developing control strategies after the goal of malaria elimination has been achieved. Method Malaria related data, report forms and work summary in Nanchang from 1950 to 2015 were collected and analyzed to indicate malaria distribution characteristics via the descriptive epidemiological methods. Results The total number of malaria cases reported in Nanchang City was 1449878 from 1950 to 2015. The particular years with the three peaks of malaria epidemic from 1950s to 1970s were 1954, 1970 and 1977. The climax of annual mean incidence rate of malaria (6948.75 per 100 thousand) was reached in 1970. Totally 1449739 local recurrence cases were reported between 1950 and 1999. There were 484292 local recurrence cases (accounting for 68.80%, 484292/703911) that were diagnosed in the malaria epidemic seasons, May to August. There were 44931, 25684, 22614 and 5842 cases reported in Nanchang County, Xinjian County, Jinxian County and Qingshanhu District, which ranked the top 4 of epidemic focus areas ( accounting for 90 . 65%, 99071/109293) between 1980 and 1989. The 13245 cases reported between 1972 and 1985 in the three county/districts (Jinxian County, Xihu District and Wanli District), included 8513 cases of male and 4732 cases of female. The 126 cases reported between 2005 and 2015, included 122 imported cases who were mostly returnees after overseas labor output and 57 falciparum malaria cases with a increasing trend year by year. There was no correlation between the seasonal change and the occurrence of malaria. Conclusions The comprehensive prevention and control measures based on eliminating the source of infection can effectively control the epidemic of malaria. It is suggested that the surveillance on imported falciparum malaria cases should be the focus in prevention and control of the disease at the late-stage because the epidemiological characteristics of local malaria cases have died out completely.

Objective To explore application of the bolus-triggered technique and optimal match between collimation and pitch of MSCTA in intracranial and cervical arteries.Methods(1)The small-dose tests were performed in 19 healthy volunteers and the theoretical threshold was obtained by the time-density curve.(2)forty healthy volunteers were divided randomly into two groups and the scanning parameters were as follows.Group A:collimation 1.0 mm,pitch 1.750. Group B:collimation 2.5 mm,pitch 0.625. Statistical significance was determined with the X~2 test and t test(?=0.05).Results(1)In 19 volunteers,CT value 4 seconds before the peak was 75 HU,the CT value at the beginning segment of the carotid artery and the C_1 segment of internal carotid artery was in accordance with the standard.(2)Image quality ofⅠ,Ⅱgrades artery structures of group B was superior to that of group A.Image quality ofⅢ,Ⅴ grades artery structures of group A was superior to that of group B.Conclusions(1)MSCTA in intracranial and cervical arteries can display systematically the cerebral and carotid arteries.(2)The bolus-triggered technique can improve the image quality of the target vessels.The image quality of the MSCTA of intracranial and cervical arteries is better with the threshold of 75 HU on the basis of 3.5 ml/s injection rate.(3)On the basis of the same other parameters,the optimal scanning parameters are a collimation of 1.0 mm with a pitch of 1.750.

Objective:Our aim was to study the relationship between factor v Leiden (FⅤL) mutation and Chinese Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS). Methods:Twenty-nine BCS patients (25 patients with sporadic BCS,4 with familial BCS ),29 healthy persons were detected for FⅤL mutation with PCR-RFLP.Results: FⅤL mutation was detected in 3 of 4 patients with familial BCS. Two patients in A family and one patient in B family had FⅤL mutation. The mutation was heterozygous. The mutation frequency was 0.0517 in 29 pationts with BCS, 0.3750 in 4 with familial BCS.The frequency of FⅤL mutation in patients and healthy persons showed no statistical difference,but frequency of FⅤL mutation between patients with familial BCS and healthy persons showed significant difference.Conclusion:The FⅤL mutation was related to Chinese familial BCS, but not related to Chinese BCS.

Objective To observe the effect of T-2 toxin on growth and development of rat epiphyseal plate of left knee and metaphyseal bone of femur and tibia in normal and low nutritional status, to find out possible pathogenic factors of Kashin-Beck disease and provide experimental basis for early intervention. Methods Ninety 3-week-old Wistar rats, weighing 60 - 70 g, were randomly divided into three groups: control group(general feed), T-2 toxin + general feed group, T-2 toxin + low nutrition feed group, thirty rats in each group with equally sex ratio. T-2 toxin (1.0 mg/kg) was administered orally 5 times a week via a gavage needle for 4 weeks. The change of hair, activity and body weight was observed. After 1, 2, 4 weeks, the epiphyseal plate of left knee and metaphyseal bone of femur and tibia (including distal femur and proximal tibia) were collected. Specimens were processed with HE and Masson staining. The morphology of chondrocytes and matrix collagen content in epiphyseal plate was observed. Trabecular bone volume fraction in tibial metaphyseal bone was analyzed by Image-Pro Plus 6.0 software. Results In the control group, rats were in good movement and hair with light, but in T-2 toxin + general feed group and T-2 toxin + low nutrition feed group, rats were found with reduced activities and hair with dark color. Body weights(g) of the control group, the T-2 toxin + general feed group and the T-2 toxin + low nutrition feed group were 81.0 ± 6.2, 79.0 ±5.1, 77.0 ± 7.5, respectively, by the end of first week; 101.8 ± 6.7, 97.0 ± 6.8, 93.0 ± 5.3, respectively, by the end of second week; 151.1 ± 15.7, 126.5 ± 11.9, 106.5 ± 11.5, respectively, by the end of fourth week. There was significant difference in groups by second week and the fourth week (F = 9.72, 41.65, all P ＜ 0.05 ). There was significant difference among multi-groups by the fourth week(all P ＜ 0.01 ). Under light microscope, at the second weeks, coagulative necrosis of chondrocytes was found in hypertrophic zone in the two groups with T-2 toxin; at the fourth weeks, cell necrosis increased. Masson staining showed collagen staining in the two groups with T-2 toxin significantly turned to clear pale coloration, indicating that the collagen matrix was significantly reduced. Image analysis showed there was significant difference in groups at the second and fourth week(F= 9.72, 41.65, all P＜ 0.05)in tibial metaphyseal trabecular bone volume fraction. There was significant difference between T-2 toxin + low nutrition feed group[(0.55 ± 0.12)％, (0.21 ± 0.0)％] and control group[(0.67 ± 0.09)％, (0.51 ± 0.14)％] by the second and fourth week(all P ＜ 0.01 ). Conclusions Under normal nutritional status, T-2 toxin can induce hypertrophic epiphyseal cartilage necrosis, collagen content decreased in epiphyseal plate, metaphyseal trabecular bone formation disorders; in the low nutritional status, T-2 toxin can lead to rat epiphyseal necrosis and significant metaphyseal bone disorder, but whether the performance is related to Kaschin-Beck disease needs to be studied further.

Objective To evaluate the effect of various iterative reconstruction methods on phase analysis of gated myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). Methods Thirty consecutive patients scanned by the Philips CardioMD system were recruited into this study. The gated SPECT (GSPECT) data were reconstructed with filtered backprojection (FBP),maximum likelihood expectation maximization (MLEM),three-di-mensional (3D) resolution recovery MLEM (AST),attenuation corrected (AC) MLEM,AC and 3D Monte Carlo scatter corrected (ACSC) MLEM methods. Parameters of left ventricular ( LV ) dyssynchrony ( phase standard deviation and histogram bandwidth) were measured using the software SyncTool. Paired t-test was used to compare the differences of the LV dyssynchrony indices between FBP and MLEM,AC MLEM,ACSC MLEM,AST respectively. Results The phase standard deviations of stress GSPECT MPI for FBP,MLEM,AC MLEM,ACSC MLEM,and AST were 11.6°,10.9°,11.2°,11.6°,11.4° respectively;while the histogram bandwidths were 35.7°,34.3°,35.1°,36.9°,35. 1 ° respectively. The phase standard deviations of rest GSPECT MPI for FBP,MLEM,AC MLEM,ACSC MLEM and AST were 15.2°,14. 5°,15.4° ,15. 4°,14.8° respectively; while the histogram bandwidths were 47.3°,46.4°,46.4° ,47.9°,46.1 ° respectively. No statistical significance was observed between the FBP and various iterative reconstruction methods for both the stress and rest GSPECT MPI study (t:-1. 179 to 1.554,P＞0.05 forall). Conclusion The standard FBP reconstruction method is accurate enough for the measurement of LV dyssynchrony indices using the widely used clinical software SyncTool.

OBJECTIVETo compare the inclinations of third molars of patients treated orthodontically with and without premolar extractions.

METHODSRecords of 37 first premolar extraction patients and 32 nonextraction patients were examined. The pretreatment and posttreatment panoramic radiographs were analyzed. The angles were measured between the long axis of the third molar and the occlusal plane and between the long axis of the third molar and the long axis of the second molar. Changes in third molar angulations from pretreatment to posttreatment for two groups were compared by Mann-Whitney U-test.

RESULTSThere were statistically significant difference between the extraction and nonextraction groups in the median angle formed by the long axis of third molar angulation relative to the occlusal plane (P<0.05) and the second molar (P<0.05) in mandible but not in maxillary. In the extraction group, at the end of the orthodontic treatment, the mandibular third molars showed more uprighting than did the maxillary third molars.

CONCLUSIONOrthodontic treatment involving premolar extractions improves mandibular third molar angulations.

OBJECTIVETo investigate effects of garlic oil (GO), age and sex on n-hexane metabolism in rats.

METHODSThe Wistar rats were used as experimental animals. (1) Intragastric administration: n-hexane group (3000 mg/kg n-hexane), GO treated group (80 mg/kg GO ig. an hour earlier than 3000 mg/kg n-hexane), then blood was taken from tails of rats at 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 h points after n-hexane administration. (2) Intraperitoneal injection: n-hexane group (1000 mg/kg n-hexane), GO treated group (80 mg/kg GO ig. an hour earlier than 1000 mg/kg n-hexane), then took blood was taken from tails of rats at 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 h points after n-hexane injection. (3) 7 rats each group of 6, 8, 10 weeks age were administrated by 3000 mg/kg n-hexane intragastrically, then were taken blood from tails at 16, 20, 24 h points after administration. (4) 7 male and 7 female rats of 8 weeks age were administrated by 3000 mg/kg n-hexane intragastrically, then were taken blood from tails at 16, 20, 24, 28 h points after administration. The gas chromatography was used to determine the metabolite 2, 5-hexanedione concentration of n-hexane in serum and 2, 5-hexanedione concentration was compared between GO and no GO treated rats, different ages and different sexes.

RESULTS(1) Intragastric administration: 2, 5-hexanedione concentrations in serum of n-hexane group and GO treated group had the peak 19.2 and 12.3 µg/ml at 20h and 24 h points. Compared with n-hexane group, the serum 2, 5-hexanedione concentration of GO treated group was lower at time points prior to peak and 2, 5-hexanedione eliminating process was slower after peak. (2) Intraperitoneal injection: effects of GO on the serum 2, 5-hexanedione concentrations was very similar to intragastric administration, 2, 5-hexanedione concentrations in serum of n-hexane group and GO treated group had the peak 15.0 and 6.7 µg/ml at 12 h and 16 h points. (3) Comparison of the serum 2, 5-hexanedione concentrations of different weeks age rats: The serum 2, 5-hexanedione concentrations of 6, 8, 10 weeks age rats were 25.5, 15.0, 12.8 µg/ml each (8, 10 weeks age significantly lower than 6 weeks age) at 16 h point; at 20 h point, they were 24.7, 18.3, 15.0 µg/ml each (10 weeks age significantly lower than 6 weeks age); at 24 h point, they were 11.0, 14.7, 8.1 µg/ml each (10 weeks age significantly lower than 8 weeks age). (4) Comparisons of the serum 2, 5-hexanedione concentrations of different sex rats: the serum 2, 5-hexanedione concentrations of male and female rats were 22.5, 17.2 µg/ml each at 16 h point (different significantly); at 20, 24, 28 h points, they were 27.6, 22.9 µg/ml, 24.6, 19.1 µg/ml, 19.1, 13.8 µg/ml each (different non-significantly).

CONCLUSIONGO reduces production of 2, 5-hexanedione in serum generated by n-hexane in rats; the metabolic capacity of low age rats on n-hexane is stronger than high age ones.
