2.Fecal Bacteriotherapy for Recurrent Clostridium difficile Infection: A Systematic Literature Review.
Korean Journal of Nosocomial Infection Control 2012;17(2):70-78
BACKGROUND: Over the past several years, Clostridium difficile has become a major healthcare-associated pathogen. Fecal bacteriotherapy has been reported as an effective intervention for treating recurrent C. difficile infection by restoring the normal intestinal microbiota. METHODS: Articles on fecal bacteriotherapy were collected through PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases using the keywords "Clostridium difficile," "feces," "fecal transplantation," "fecal microbiota transplantation," and "fecal bacteriotherapy." Using a systematic literature review, variables of interest from articles that met the inclusion criteria were extracted and summarized. RESULTS: Among 141 articles that were published in English from January 1, 2000 to August 31, 2012, 8 studies were selected for analysis after assessing the titles, abstracts, and full contents. Fecal bacteriotherapy procedures varied with respect to donor selection, screening, infusion route, and preparation of the suspension. Donors were mostly family members or relatives, and donor screening included tests for blood borne and stool pathogens. Selected infusion routes were colonoscopy (62.5%), nasogastric tube (25%), and enema (12.5%). The success rate was reported to be 73-100%. There was a lack of a standard procedure for fecal bacteriotherapy in all of the selected studies. CONCLUSION: Fecal bacteriotherapy is an effective intervention for combating C. difficile infection that has a high success rate and no adverse effects. This therapy would be helpful for infection control in hospital settings by facilitating early eradication of C. difficile infection.

5.Molecular Dissection of Bombyx mori Nucleopolyhedrovirus orf8 Gene
Virologica Sinica 2009;24(4):315-322
Viruses including baculoviruses are obligatory parasites, as their genomes do not encode all the proteins required for replication. Therefore, viruses have evolved to exploit the behavior and the physiology of their hosts and often eoevolved with their hosts over millions of years. Recent comparative analyses of complete genome sequences of baculoviruses revealed the patterns of gene acquisitions and losses that have occurred during baculovirus evolution. In addition, knowledge of virus genes has also provided understanding of the mechanism of baculovirus infection including replication, species-specific virulence and host range. The Bm8 gene of Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) and its homologues are found only in group I NPV genomes. The Autographa californica NPV Acl6 gene is a homologue of Bm8 and, encodes a viral structural protein. It has been shown that Bm8/Ac 16 interacts with baculoviral and cellular proteins. Bm8/Ac 16 interacts with baculoviral IE1 that is facilitated by coiled coil domains, and the interaction with IE1 is important for Bin8 function. Ac16 also forms a complex with viral FP25 and cellular actin and associates with membranes via palmitoylation. These data suggested that this gene family encodes a multifunctional protein that accomplishes specific needs of group INPVs.
6.The immunomodulatory effect of curcumin in sepsis
International Journal of Pediatrics 2012;39(2):177-179
Sepsis has become a widespread and very complex issue for modern critical care medicine. It is undoubtedly of great theoretical and clinical significance that we should strengthen the study of sepsis and explore new treatments and drugs. It has been found that curcumin had anti-tumor,anti-inflammatory,anti-virus,antibacterial,antioxidant and other pharmacological effects, low toxicity, and a good potential for clinical application. Moreover,it was thought to be potentially immunomodulatory in the last two decades.A number of experimental studies had elicited that curcumin could be used for sepsis and septic shock. This article reviews the immune regulation mechanism of curcumin in sepsis.
7.Progress of treatment in children with patent ductus arteriosus
International Journal of Pediatrics 2012;39(3):220-223
Patent ductus arteriosus is a common congenital heart disease in children.Effective and promptly treatment can prevent complications, such as pneumonia, congestive heart failure, infective endocarditic and pulmonary artery hypertension. The treatments include medication, transcatheter intervention and surgery. The vast majority of the patent ductus arteriosus can be cured by transcatheter interventional therapy now.

9.Drug therapy of renal cell carcinoma
Journal of International Oncology 2008;35(6):464-466
Immunochemotherapy is still the primary drug therapy of renal cell carcinoma(RCC), and chemotherapy is effective too. The combination of gemcitabine and cisplatin is the standard regimen now. How-ever, emerge of targeted therapeutic agents has altered the treatment of RCC. Multitargeted tyrosine kinase in-hibitor, such as sunitinib and sorafenib, and mammalian target of rapamycin (roTOR) inhibitors( temsiroll-mus), and anti-tumor monoclonal antibody, such as bevacizumab, have already become the first line election.
