Objective To explore the correlation of the apoptosis of peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) with plasma 8-iso-prostaglandin F2? (8-iso-PGF2?) level in order to confirm the peroxidation damage of hyperbilirubinemia in neonates with jaundice.Me-thods One hundred and twenty-nine neonates who were 2 to 7 days old were divided into 4 groups:slight jaundice (43 cases),moderate jaundice (38 cases),serious jaundice (18 cases),and healthy control(30 cases)groups.Plasma 8-iso-PGF2? levels were assayed by enzyme immunoassay(EIA),and the apoptosis rates of PBMC were determined by flow cytometry. Results 1.There was no significant difference in the apoptosis rate of PBMC between normal and slight jaundice neonates (P=0.108);apoptosis rate of PBMC was increasing with the aggravation of jaundice.2.Plasma 8-iso-PGF2? level in normal neonates was 14.74?6.71 ng/L,there was no difference between normal neonates and neonates with slight jaundice(P=0.502).Plasma 8-iso-PGF2? levels in neonates with moderate and serious jaundice were much higher(Pa=0).3.Positive correlation existed between plasma 8-iso-PGF2? level and PBMC apoptosis rate (r=0.602 P=0).Conclusions Hyperbilirubinemia can induce peroxidation damage, resulting in increase of PBMC apoptosis.Plasma 8-iso-PGF2? level can accurately eva-luate the peroxidation damage in neonates with jaundice.

The study aims to investigate the incidence of bacterial vaginitis(BV) in female patients with condyloma acuminatum. In eighty-seven female patients with condyloma acuminatum, the incidence of BV was 37.93%. The incidence of relapse of condyloma acuminatum was markedly higher in patients with complication of BV compared with those without BV. The results suggested that vaginal infection may contribute to relapse of condyloma acuminatum.

Objective To explore the diagnosis and surgical management of juxtapapillary choledochoduodenal fistula and to evaluate endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) in the diagnosis of juxtapapillary choledochoduodenal fistula. Methods A retrospective clinical analysis was made in reference to the diagnosis and operative intervention for a total of 47 cases of juxtapapillary choledochoduodenal fistula. Results Forty seven fistula cases were diagnosed among 3*!800 patients undergoing ERCP. Thirty four cases were complicated with cholelithiasis and 19 bile duct pneumatosis. Thirty eight patients were operated on including choledocholithotomy in 7 cases and hepatojejunostomy in 31 cases, in which hilar choledochoplasty was added in 4 cases, and 5 cases underwent concomitant hepatic segmentectomy. Conclusion ERCP is the most valuable method in diagnosing and guiding surgical management in juxtapapillary choledochoduodenal fistula.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the parenteral nutrition formula's character of all-in-one-mixed preparation and pre-mixed preparation applied for hospitalized patients in China.MethodsWe collected parenteral nutrition (PN) prescriptions in hospitalized patients with various diseases at dispensing centers of 6 hospitals in different areas of China. Statistic analysis was made by nutrients application, total liquid, nonprotein calories, total nitrogen, ratio of non-protein calories and total nitrogen, and ratio of glucose and fat. A comparison was made between all-in-one-mixed and pre-mixed preparation as to all the indices. Results The nutrients supply in all-in-one-mixed PN preparation, as well as in the pre-mixed PN preparations of 3 different energy degrees can meet the basic nutrition requirements of most patients. The total nitrogen supply in all-in-one-mixed PN prescriptions meets nutrition requirements in most patients, but the ratio of non-protein calories and total nitrogen[( 180-250) : 1]and the ratio of glucose and fat (0. 56-1.26)were significantly different from what a doctor would recommend[( 100-150) : 1, 1.0]. While the ratios in the pre-mixed PN preparation on 3 different energy degrees are more consistent with recommeded values, which are at 167 and 0. 8 respectively.ConclusionsAll-in-one-mixed and pre-mixed PN preparation have their own individual advantages and limits, and both of them can meet the requirements of most hospitalized patients. More attention should be paid to the nutrients proportion when doctors prescribe all-in-one-mixed PN preparations.

Objective To observe the effect of breviscapine on the open probability(Po)and the average open time(To) of L-type calcium channel in the hippocampal neurons of the whole brain ischemia-reperfusion rat model. Methods The whole brain ischemia rat model was established. At the reperfusion periods of 1.5 h,3.0 h,4.5 h and 6.0 h,the hippoeampal CA1 neurons were dissociated abruptly and the Ca~(2+)electricity of single channel on the neuron membrane were recorded with cell-attach model of patch clamp techniques. The Po and To of the L-type calcium channel were an- alyzed and the effect of the breviscapine was observed. Results Different concentrations of breviscapine can decrease the Po and To of the L-type calcium channel in hippoeampal neurons, particularly within 3 hours after ischemia-reperfu- sion. Conclusions Breviscapine has protective effect on the cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Objective To analyze the influence of mode of delivery on post-neonatal gut microbiota using polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) technology. Methods From April to August in 2013,thirty healthy urban full-term neonates in Nanjing City were enrolled in the study, including fifteen exclusive breastfed ones (seven born of caesarean section and eight born vaginally) and fifteen mixed feeding ones (eight born of cesarean section and seven born vaginally).Stool specimens were collected on the 28th day after birth and bacterial genomic DNA was extracted and examined by PCR on 16S rDNA V3 variable region.Bacterial community profiles were obtained by DGGE.Diversity and similarity differences of the gut microbial community structures were analyzed. Two independent sample t test or Chi-square tests were used for stastistical analysis. Results (1)Diversity analysis showed that among exclusive breastfeeding infants, the Strip number and Shannon-Weaver Diversity Index of gut microbiota in infants born abdominally were significantly lower than those born vaginally [9.71 ±4.27 vs 15.12±4.19,2.13±0.39 vs 2.61±0.32,both P<0.05],but the Simpson index of gut microbiota was significantly higher [0.13 ± 0.04 vs 0.08± 0.03,P<0.05],and no significant difference was shown in Pielou Index (P>0.05).In the mixed feeding group, the Strip number and Shannon-Weaver Diversity Index of gut microbiota in infants born abdominally were significantly lower than those born vaginally [10.88±3.23 vs 16.29±5.38,2.26±0.37 vs 2.66±0.31,both P<0.05],the Simpson index was higher, but together with the Pielou Index, neither showed significant difference (both P>0.05).(2) Similarity analysis found that gut microbiota from neonates born of same mode of delivery mostly gathered together and had much more similar structures. Conclusions In the post-neonatal period, the species and numbers of gut microbiota in infants born abdominally are all behind of those born vaginally. The predominant microbiota in babies born of cesarean section are more prominent, and gut microbiota in vaginal delivered babies are more uniformly distributed.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(01):-
Objective To evaluate the role of multidetector CT(MDCT) and high magnetic field MRI in diagnosis of small cystic-solid renal mass. Methods Fifty-two cases with small renal cystic-solid mass(≤3 cm) were consecutively collected, including small cystic-solid renal cell carcinoma(n=25),carcinoid(n=1),complex cysts(n=16),small angiomyolipoma(n=7) and benign cystic nephroma(n=3).All were examined by both 1.5T MRI and multidetector CT at intervals between 3 days and 2 months. Results All cases were proved by pathology.Multi-planar reconstruction techniques were useful for MDCT in differentiating small cystic-solid renal mass, with the sensitivity of 98.1%,which was as high as MRI.However, the accuracy for MDCT was 71.2%,significantly lower than that of MRI(90.4%)(P=0.001).MRI helped to identify the components and structure of renal masses, and behaved better in the detection of pseudo-capsule of renal cell carcinoma(57.7%).Conclusion High magnetic field MRI may play an important role in the diagnosis of small renal cystic-solid masses, and it may be feasible as a noninvasive examination when CT can not make the ultimate determination.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(15):2834-2837
Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are a kind of pluripotent stem cells derived from bone marrows, which can not only support hematopoiesis, but also have capabilities of multidifferentiation, high-proliferation and self-renewing. They have become one of hotspots in stem cell studies. Studies on in vitro intervention with BMSCs with TCMs have made remarkable progress in recent years. According to the findings, some traditional Chinese medicines can promote proliferation of BMSCs, some can inhibit the apoptosis of BMSCs, while others can induce BMSCs to differentiate into multiple cell types, such as osteoblast. Furthermore, some studies also involved relevant action mechanisms. The authors summarized the advance in relevant studies by reference to relevant literatures of this field.
