OBJECTIVETo explore optimal choice of surgical treatment for subtrochanteric fractures in older children.
METHODSA retrospective study of 36 older children with subtrochanteric fractures was performed between January 2010 and January 2012. Among them, 18 patients (11 males and 7 females) aged from 7 to 13 years old with an average of 9.4 were treated with titanic elastic nail (TEN) fixation, 4 cases were Type II A, 3 cases were II B, 2 cases were II C, 4 cases were III A, 3 cases were III B according to Seinsheimer classification. Eighteen patients (10 males and 8 females) aged was from 8 to 13 years with an average of 9.6 were treated with locking compression pine (LCP) fixation, and 3 cases were Type II A, 4 cases were II B, 3 cases were II C, 4 cases were IIIA, 2 cases were III B. Fracture healing time, postoperative complications (including wound infection, failure and breakage of internal fixtion, deformities of angular on the sagittal view, deformities of coxa vara) and recovery of hip joint function were observed and recorded.
RESULTSAll children were followed up from 15 to 36 months with an average of 21. Fracture were all healed, the time ranged from 7 to 16 weeks (mean 9.5). Three cases in TEN group occurred mild deformities of angular on the sagittal view, 3 cases occurred deformities of coxa vara and 2 cases occurred limb shortening; while 1 case occurred mild deformities of angular on the sagittal view, and no deformities of coxa vara and limb shortening occurred in LCP group. No early close of epiphyseal injury, avascular necrosis of femoral head occurred. Clinical efficacy were evaluated by Sanders standard, 14 cases got excellent results, 3 cases were moderate in LCP group, while 9 cases in excellent, 4 in moderate in TEN group. There were no significant differences between two group in recovery of hip joint function and complications.
CONCLUSIONFor the treatment of subtrochanteric fractures in older children, the efficacy of LCP fixation is better than that of TFN fixation, which has advantages of reliable fixation, and less complications.

Objective To investigate the potentiality of adhesion of S. pn to type Ⅱ pneumocyte (A549) in inducing tyrosine phosphorylation of A549 cell proteins and the function subcomponents involved in. Methods Labelled S. pn with FITC for the observation of kinetic characters of adhesion in vitro; The tyrosine phosphorylation of A549 cell proteins induced by S. pn was examined by immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Results The adhesion of S. pn to A549 cells was in a time-and dose-dependent fashion suggesting the specific interaction; Tyrosine phosphorylation induced by adhesion was dose-and time-dependent and was mediated by the surface proteins of S. pn. Conclusion S. pn adheres to A549 cells and triggers the signal cascade in which the surface proteins of S. pn play a vital role.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of glutamine on parenteral alimentation in patients with severe craniocerebral injury in ICU. Methods 120 patients with severe brain injury in our hospital from November 2013 to November 2014 were selected as the research object.According to the random number table method, the 120 patients were divided into experimental group and control group, 60 cases in each group. The patients in the experimental group received glutamine parenteral nutrition support, while the control group received conventional parenteral nutritional support. The serum total protein, albumin, the complications and malnutrition-inflammation score(MIS) scores of the two groups were compared. Results The serum total protein and serum albumin levels of the experimental group post-treatment were significant higher than those in the control group (P<0.001).The complication rate in the experimental group was 15.0%, significantly lower than the control group of 55.0%(χ2 =21.099,P<0.001).The patients of normal MIS score in the experimental group were obviously superior to the control group ( 70.0% vs.33.3%, χ2 =16.151, P <0.001 ). Conclusion Adding glutamine to parenteral nutrition support therapy in the treatment of patients with severe craniocerebral injury can effectively improve the nutritional status after operation and strengthen nutrition support.

Albino rats fed on crops from endemic and non-endemic districts of Ke-shan desease, were used in this experiment, which was studied by 85Zn tracer metabolic method after 8 weeks feeding. Uptake of 85Zn (ZnCl2) by blood, heart, liver, kidneys and brown adipose tissue were determined at 24 and 72 hours after injection of this tracer respectively, and its distribution was thoroughly examined. The results revealed that the uptake of 8aZn was higher in the groups fed on crops from endemic districts, particularly significant in liver, kidneys and brown adipose tissue. This may reflect the lacking or deficiency of zinc in the bodies. The regular differences of 85Zn between two groups were certainly related to the crops produced from endemic or aon-endemic districts. In other words, there should be some differences between crops from endemic and non-endemic areas. Thus more attention should be paid to the factors in endemic crops, which induced lacking or deficiency of zinc in the experimental animal and to its relationship with etiology of Keshan disease.

ObjectiveTo investigate the expression and localization of midkine (MK) in human hepatocellular carcinoma. MethodsIn situ hybridization and immunohistochemical analysis for MK were performed on samples of both tumor tissues and paratumor tissues from HCC and benign liver tumors. ResultsThe distribution and localization of the MK transcripts′ signals determined by in situ hybridization were similar to those obtained by immunohistochemical analysis. Most HCC tissues showed enhanced positive reaction within cytoplasm to both MK probe and MK immunostaining. There was no significant difference in clinicopathological parameters between MK negative and positive cases of HCC. ConclusionsHuman hepatocellular carcinoma overexpresses MK at the mRNA and protein level.
