Journal of the Korean Knee Society 1997;9(1):62-66
Fifty-nine knees with a specific diagnosis of mediopatella plica syndrom; under arthroscopy were treated by arthroscopic resection. The patients were se1ected for arthroscopy only if the symptoms had continued after a course of physical therapy and medication for at least three weeks. Seven patients were lost in follow up period. Fifty-two knees were reviewed after mean period of 21.5 monl;hs (range 12 to 37). The results were graded as excelient (61.5%), good (25%), poor (9.6%) and failure (3.9%). Majority of the patients ratect their result as excellent or good. We concluded that with the meticulous resection of the pathologic plica with arthroscopy, good result can he expected with resumption of athletic activities and no or mild pain in knee joint.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1981;16(2):480-483
Fatty tumours are,the most common soft tissue tumours whereas they are among the rarest tumours in bone. Dahlin quoted an incidence of 1 in 1, 000 of all bone tumours, and fatty tumours in bone are almost single intraosseous lipoma and of four types; I. Soft tissue lipomata or liposarcomata, secondarily affecting bone. 2. Parosteal lipomata. 3. Intraosseous lipomata. 4. Liposarcoma of bone. Here we report a case of multiple intraosseous lipomas in a 23 year old woman.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1981;16(2):442-446
Ten cases of fracture of the carpal scaphoid analysed clinically and treated by admission at Department of Orthopedic Surgery, National Police Hospital during the period of 1975 to 1980. The results were summerized as follows: 1. The mode of the injury were consist of 3 in football game, 2 in judo, 2 in army training and 1 in fallen from height, 1 in slipping down, 1 in direct blow and almost falling down by outstretched hand. 2. Of the 10 cases, there were 9 male and 1 female patients. This result showed marked predominence of male over female patients and most commonly occured between 20 and 29 of age. 3. In 8 cases, the fracture was found on the waist of the carpal scaphoid. 4. Nonunion of the carpal scaphoid were noticed in 8 cases. 5. 2 cases of the recent fracture, there were appeared by rechecking X.-ray after 2 weeks. 6. The good results were obtained by bone graft according to method of Russe.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1987;22(2):509-514
Soft tissue coverage of heel defects has long been a difficult problem. In 1982, Iron reported eight cases of heel defects in children using an ipsilateral posterior thigh flap with use of the Hoff-man's skeletal fixation apparatus for immobilization. We report three cases of heel defects treatment in children using ipsilateral posterior thigh flap and detach flap in an average 13 days with aid of single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT) for evaluation of circulation status of flap.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1999;42(11):2558-2563
OBJECTIVE: Endometriosis is a disease affecting a large population of women all over the world. A local sterile inflammation occurs in the peritonel cavity of patients with endometriosis. It suggests that immunological events play a major role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. We have studied the levels of serveral T cell and monocyte derived cytokines, especially IL-6 (promoter of immune response) and IL-10 (inhibitor of immune response), in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis to characterize the change of immune response that occurs at the site of endometriosis. Method: This study was performed in Hallym university hospital from October, 1997 to October 1998 and enrolled 29 women with gross or microscopic findings of minimal to severe endometriosis in case group, and 28 women without visual evidence of pelvic endometriosis and with benign gynecologic disease in control group. IL-6 and IL-10 levels in the peritoneal fluid were determined using commercial ELISA and compared between endometriosis and controls and between fertile and infertile women with endometriosis and according to the revised American Fertility Society classification. RESULT: IL-6 was higher and IL-10 was lower in the peritoneal fluid of endometriosis group than of control group. Cyclic variations in the IL-6 concentrations were seen in endometriosis group : the concentrations in the secretory phase were significantly higher than those in the proliferative phase. In endometriosis group, IL-6 concentrations of infertile women were higher than fertile women. Both IL-6 and IL-10 in the peritoneal fluid of endomtriosis group did not show significant correlation according to r-AFS stages. CONCLUSION: Increased IL-6 and decreased IL-10 levels in the peritoneal fluid may be related to infertility and pathogenesis in the endometriosis, suggesting that partially contribute to the disturbed immune regulation observed in endometriosis.

International Eye Science 2017;17(7):1209-1211
AIM: To evaluate fundus findings in patients with intracranial aneurysm (ICA) to determine the relation between ICA and distinguishable retinal features.METHODS: We analyzed the medical records and ocular images of 46 patients with previously diagnosed ICA referred from the Neurosurgical Department. All patients underwent ophthalmologic evaluation including fluorescein angiography (FAG).Furthermore, the presence of drusen, macular degeneration, cotton wool spot, hard exudates, retinal hemorrhage, arteriolar attenuation, A-V crossing signs, arm-to-retina time, and A-V transit time were evaluated. The results of ICA patients (Group 1) were compared with those of 22 idiopathic epiretinal membrane patients with unaffected eyes (Group 2).RESULTS: Mean ages were 60.02y (Group 1) and 60.68y (Group 2) respectively (P=0.70).The prevalence of hypertension was similar in both groups. No case with retinal macroaneurysm was found in either group. The presence of drusen, macular degeneration, cotton wool spot, hard exudates, retinal hemorrhage, arteriolar attenuation, and A-V crossing sign was not significantly different between the two groups.Mean arm-to-retina time was not significantly different in two groups, either.CONCLUSION: We cannot find any evidence that the patients with ICA shows specific changes in the FAG and fundus.
