Objective To investigate the changes of high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1),glutathione peroxidase(GPX3) in thyroid carcinoma and thier relationship with pathological characteristics. Methods The levels of HMGB1 and GPX3 were detected by using ELISA in 153 cases of thyroid cancer,120 cases of benign thyroid nodules and 120 healthy controls. The changes of HMGB1 and GPX3 in the patients with thyroid cancer were analyzed.Their application value in thyroid cancer was analyzed by using the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve. Results The plasma HMGB1 level and the HMGB1 positive expression rate in the thyroid cancer group were higher than those in the benign thyroid nodules group and control group(P<0.05),while the plasma GPX3 level and GPX3 positive expression rate in the thyroid cancer group were lower than those in the benign thyroid nodules group and control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the levels of plasma HMGB1,GPX3 and the positive rates of HMGB1 and GPX3 between the thyroid benign nodule group and the healthy control group (P > 0.05).The plasma H MGB1 expression in thyroid cancer was closely related with the infiltration degree, clinical stage and lymph node metastasis(P< 0.05),and the GPX3 expression was related with the tumor stage and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).The ROC curve showed that the sensitivity and specificity of HMGB1 and GPX3 for diagnosing thyroid cancer were 76.3% and 85.5%,70.8% and 82.2% respectively. Conclusion Plasma HMGB1 and GPX3 expression levels are closely associated with the occurrence and progression of thyroid cancer.

Objective To investigate the influence of pain on liver function recovery after hepatectomy Methods Clinical data of 257 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into effective analgesia group(NRS ≤ 3 points)and ineffective analgesia group(NRS > 3 points)according to the digital hierarchy(NRS). The serum liver function indexes including ALT,AST,TBiL, ALB and PT were compared in 2 groups. Results There was no significant difference in preoperative liver function between 2 groups but the levels of ALT ,AST ,PT and TBIL at 1st ,3rd ,5th and 7th days postoperatively were lower in effective analgesia group than those in ineffective analgesic group after surgery(P<0.05). The incidence of the delay of liver function was lower in effective analgesia group than that in ineffective analgesic group. Conclusion Effective analgesic treatment can reduce liver damage and accelerate liver function recovery.

Homoacetogens are a group of microorganisms with application potential to produce chemicals and biofuels by the bioconversion of synthesis gas. In this study, we collected waste activated sludge samples to screen homoacetogens by Hungate anaerobic technique, and studied the effect of pH on acetate and alcohol production from H2/CO2 gas. The mixed culture contained Clostridium ljungdahlii, Lysinibacillus fusiformis and Bacillus cereus. Acetate concentration achieved 31.69 mmol/L when the initial pH was 7. The mixed culture containing homoacetogen could converting H2/CO2 to acetate, which provides an efficient microbial resource for the bioconversion of synthesis gas.

[Objective]To investigate the prophylactic effects of intra-articular injection of salvia miltiorrhiza on joint adhesion. [Methods]Twenty-four Japanese male rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups. All right hind knees were made in this way: the auterior wall of suprapatellar bursae was scraped, the posterior wall of suprapatellar bursae and the infrapatellar fat pad were cut off. Each knee was injected with physiological saline 0.3 ml for group A, sodium hyaluronate injection 0.3 ml for group B, and salvia miltiorrhiza injection 0.3 ml for group C. All right hind knees were immobilized in the extension position with a long leg plaster cast for 4 weeks, and injected weekly.[Results]After 4 weeks, the joint movement range in group B or C was larger than that in group A (P<0.01), and there was no significant difference (P>0.05)compared to group B and group C. The scoring of joint adhesions in group B or C was smaller than that in group A (P<0.01), and there was no significant difference(P>0.05)compared to group B and group C. The scoring of histological changed of the synovial membrane in group B or C was smaller than that in group A (P<0.01), and there was no significant difference(P>0.05)compared to group B and group C.Total collagens content of the synovial membrane in group B or C was smaller than that in group A (P<0.01), while that of group C was less than in group B(P<0.01). [Conclusion]Similarly to sodium hyaluronate, salvia miltiorrhiza can effectively prevent joint adhesions.

Objective To establish a simple and practical superparamagnetic immunochromatographic test strip for rapidly monitoring human serum level of CA72-4. Methods Water-soluble carboxylated super-paramagnetic nanoparticles were prepared with a modified one-step hydrothermal synthesis method. Magnetic probe was prepared by immobilizing specific antibody (mAb1) onto the surface of nanoparticles. Following with optimization and assembly of the test strip , we evaluated sensitivity , specificity , stability of this method for serum CA72-4 detection. Results The optimized test strip provided not only the qualitative results, but also the high sensitivity quantitative detection through stable magnetic signal. The detection limit was 0.83 IU/mL. One hundred clinical samples ( 70 positive and 30 negative ) were measured to assess these test strips with high sensitivity (99%) and high specificity (93%). The test strip and magnetic signal possessed high stability. Conclusion A rapid and quantitative detection of CA72-4 by the test strip was accomplished. This method is rapid, sensitive and quantitative, possessing great potential in large sample screening or in-home testing.

Objective To explore the capability of diffusion weighed imaging (DWI) in differentiating malignant cervical lymph nodes from benign ones in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients, and to assess the appropriate b value in 3.0T MR DWI. Methods Conventional MR and DWI scan were performed in 50 patients with histopathologically proven NPC and 20 healthy volunteers with GE 3.0T MR scanner, and neurovascular array 8 channels head and neck unite coil. DWI was performed with single shot spin-echo echo-planar imaging (SE-EPI) sequence at 4 different b values (600, 800, 1000,1200 s/mm~2). The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values between metastatic lymph nodes of NPC patients and benign nodes of volunteers were compared. Results The mean ADC value (×10~(-3) mm~2/s) of metastatic cervical lymph nodes of NPC at different b value (600, 800, 1000, 1200 s/mm~2) was 0.808±0.112, 0.769±0.098, 0.732±0.095 and 0.696±0.083, respectively; the mean ADC value (×10~(-3) mm~2/s) of lymph nodes of volunteers was 0.993±0.172, 0.967±0.165, 0.903±0.157 and 0.855±0.122, respectively (P<0.05). When b value was 800 s/mm~2, and ROC cut-off point was 0.873×10~(-3) mm~2/s, the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and accuracy was 88.41%, 69.43%, and 75.22%, respectively. Both the satisfying images and the accurate measurement were acquired. Conclusion As a rapid and sensitive new MR technique, DWI can offer help in discriminating benign and malignant cervical lymph nodes in NPC patients.
